After seeing Deverin, Brandark heads to Cevah's with Abacus's leather armour.
Cevah, do you have some good steel for this, as well I wish to change this for good steel as well.
Brandark shows her his heavy wooden shield.
I would like something a little faster to put on, but not as problematic over carrying.
I wish to change my heavy wood shield for a quickdraw steel shield, along with changing the armour for abacus.

"I will sell you a Light Quickdraw Steel Shield in exchange for your Large Wooden one for 40 gpcs. You will need to go to the Red Dog Smithy if you want barding. But be careful with Das Korvut though, the kids in town have a little rhyme for him:
“Here comes crazy-man Das Korvut,
Mad as a cut snake in a wagon rut.
See how his chops go bouncity-bounce?
How many people has he trounced?

Done Cevah, and thank you for the info
Brandark asks for a bit of help setting it up the first time.
He then hoists the barding onto his shoulder and makes his way to the red dog smithy.
GM Mazra
At the Red Dog Smithy, Das is focused on making shovel heads, when Brandark inquires about the barding, he stops without looking at the Dwarf, "Can't you see I am busy. GO AWAY!" Then he pauses, looks up at Brandark with Savah, then nods approvingly, "Chain, Scale or Plate?"
Just an aside: Savah's is an Armory. She buys weapons and armor from many different merchants that pass through or sail into port. She, however, is not an armorer or weaponsmith. She does, upon occasion, commission Das to make a specific weapon or armor.

Wondering if you have any chain in stock
Chain shirt barding, Gp value 400 by book
Also, just to clarify, I was after a heavy pack horse, and that was what I read it as at the stables.
GM Mazra
"Not in stock. It would take about a week to hammer out enough chains for the barding," the gruff man says. Though onery, he comes across as reasonable.
He would manufacture it for 350gp. The horse is of the same breeding as a warhorse, but lacks the temperament. The Keleshite horses are like Arabians, strong boned, agile and easily trainable. Though not a true draft like a Clydesdale, the horse would fall into the heavy pack horse category.
Brandark Plainswalker
Well, if it will take you a week, could you make this Lamallar instead of chain, I can give you the cost of materials right now, and rest upon our return.
I am Assuming that we should be back in a little over a week.
Steel Lamallar barding will be 600 gp by book. Material cost 200 by crafting skill costs
GM Mazra
"Steel Lamallar? I can make that. 250gp now and 250gp upon delivery. Who are you going to war on? Never mind, I really don't want to know," the big strong metal worker frowns at Brandark.
Bonus time: I just paraphrased from a video game. A reward is in your character's future if you can name the Video Game and where the phrase is mentioned in the game.
Brandark Plainswalker
That works for me
Brandark shakes the hand of Das to seal the deal
He then grits his teeth, and makes his way to the general store in order to top up his food, and spikes, along with a couple of other things.
Will subtract 3 gp to say that I restocked my food and other useables. :)
Edit, will have to spend more than 3, forgot banner, and a few other things, Military Saddle 20, Banner Complicated 20, Compass 10, Medium sized tent 15 works out to 95 with the +50% increase. :( plus restock, comes to 98
No idea on the game. Sounds like something that world of warcrack would say. :)

3 cheers for Kelvin
The only thing that I think might be left, would be a purchase of a cure light wounds wand for us. But I am ready to go.
Kelvin Fleetwood
Yea, slow internet is bad, but it saves me over $100 a month for 6 months while we are at the camper and $20 a month over the winter to keep the telephone line, so I'll put up with it since I only really do email and pbp. It only seems to be this bad on the big weekends as we were here for two weeks before this weekend and it was relatively fine.
After distributing the wealth "should we buy a wand of curing? I will contribute to the cost."
Brandark Plainswalker
I think we should, but contributions, should not be necessary. That is why I was putting together a communal pot of money
Will subtract the 750 from our communal pot, I guess Stone looks after that wand ?
Brandark Plainswalker
After paying for the wand out of the communal pot, Brandark passes the wand to Stone.
Something to make healing us a little easier He grins at Stone.
Brandark will then go to the gem merchant to reduce his coinage to more transportable form.
He will also reduce the communal fund to an easier form to carry.

Ameiko smokes a hog throughout the day. That evening she serves the high portion for dinner in honor of the heroes. The lower portions she finely ground with maize and tomatoes and prepared a complimentary stew.
Shalelu did not take her traditional Rusty Dragon bath this evening, instead she enjoyed double portions of Ameiko's stew with the local red wine. She also informs the party that she is not going to Magnimar. Instead, she will begin scouting out the Devil's Platter. She tells the party she will meet the party back at the Rusty Dragon in one week. She turns in early.
Day Twenty-One
Shalelu was already gone when the party awakes.
Brathana is up early preparing morning breakfast. She fries up some breaded tenderloins from the previous evenings leftovers. You could cut it with a fork. She serves it with eggs and fresh biscuits with a milk gravy, she tells the party, "Too bad you are leaving for Magnimar today, tomorrow I will have fresh sausage links to serve."
As the party leaves town, many citizens follow the party from the stables and across the river.
On the Lost Coast Road toward Magnimar:
Random Encounter Chance: 1d8 ⇒ 1
You cross over the Turandarok River and Trail leaving Sandpoint behind. The sea is to the party's right, a hilly region leading into the Devil's Platter is to their left. It is not long that you cross a small stone bridge over Cougar's Creek and into the simple farmlands of the Ashen Moors. You notice farmers busy in their fields on this cloudy but rain free morning.
You steer away from the coast along the Brinestump Marsh to the party's right, eventually crossing the Soggy River. The party will notice that the farms South of the Soggy River appear deserted. You will cross the Foxglove River and then through a section of the Whisperwoods. The cloudy days has transitioned into a steady rain, slightly slowing the party, as the horses carefully negotiate the stones and ruts along the road.
Brandark Plainswalker
Brandark gives Brathana a cheeky kiss when he comes in from the stables.
A wonderful meal, my thanks He grins at her.
He then sits down to take part in the welcome meal and then get ready for the trip.
A little later
Rain, why rain
Brandark hoists his gear a little better on him in a futile attempt to keep the worst of the rain off him.
Elektra Stardancer
Meal:
Taking quite a load, for her, still about half what the more martial inclined characters eat, Elektra enjoys the party like everyone else. But in the morning after waking up, she will take great care to work her morning gymnastics to get rid of her extra calories.
Ride:
After a few hours of pondering, Elektra will remark something to the others."I know some of you lack some items that help them resist spells. Maybe we can get some nice cloaks in Magnimar, I thought maybe with a symbol for our adventure company and I can enchant them. Easiest, and fastest would be an item to ward you from dweomers. Anyone interested?"
GM Mazra
As Elektra makes inquiry of the party on this gloomy day, she senses something is about to happen.
Creature's Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Elektra can react in the Surprise Round. Everyone else needs a DC16 Perception check or better to react. You can roll it, while I prepare and set up the encounter, or I will roll it for your PCs a little later.

@Garrath - In the Surprise Round, all you would have been able to do is dismount, as a move action if you don't roll a DC 20 Ride Check for a Fast Dismount. You can take your roll in Round One if you like.
The Ghouls move to engage.
Brandark still has a Surprise Round action. This maybe a situation where going last is a plus. He can attack. Also go ahead with your Round One actions.

This third Ghoul does manage to bite Stone for 5 points of damage. Stone needs to make two DC 13 Fort Saves. The first from Disease and the Second from Paralysis.

Round One
Hasted, Kelvin slices and dices a Ghoul, nearly taking it down.
Elektra forms a pit under one of the Ghouls.
Garrath truly hacks up a Ghoul.
The Ghouls attack. One gets a claw into Kelvin. Stone is bitten by one. Another gets a Claw into Elektra. And yet another nearly kills Garrath's Horse, paralyzing the beast where it stands.
