I have class reunion today, and tomorrow and Monday are going to be hard for me. One of the youth from our ward was killed in a car accident on Tuesday. The service will be monday. I am not sure if I will be in a mind frame to post before tuesday.
Jerram
Sounds good. Excited to get going for our first battle!

I am back and should be able to respond to posts in the normal manner. Thanks for the time and cosideration

Welcome back.

How far across is the street.

So I am assuming that I did not break, lose, or drop any items. The stealth rolls were to help with rear movement. I was not sure how many perception checks if any more you would want but I figured stealth would be more important. If only I could have gotten rolls like those on my jumps it would have been great.
Anyway, I hope that I was not holding up the group and it I was I apologize for that.
Shadara Windless
Understandable. I have had to work split shifts the last couple days to help wife with kids when they get home from school cause she has not felt well. Hope all is getting better.
Jerram
Sorry for all the confusion Shadara, I figured 60 ft was too far to sign and tried to send a secret message, but failed miserably on my roll.
Shadara Windless
Thats ok it worked out well.

I am waiting to hear from richard. If I do not hear from him or have any other imput from all by monday night (utah - time) I will DM the next part of whats happening.
So here is your chance to make any additional comments/actions etc. before the grove entry.
I'd also love to hear feed back on the game. It helps me gauge alot of things.

Having fun in game. Was thinking that we might get attacked on the way to see gigi. Anticipation on how battles will go is getting higher each day. Almost think it will be where you tell the story of the battle without much in the way of interaction due to the rolls and requests you have asked for previously. Whether it is interactive or a narrative of the battle I am excited to see what and how it happens.

Sorry for the absence my work is severely understaffed atm and I've been forced to take a lot of overtime and when I'm done I barely have any energy left to do anything. But things have slowed down and we have people coming in so it should go back to normal soon.

Mang Unless otherwise stated, I will assume that strong talon is with you and not flying right now. You said he landed as you entered the grove.
Decide as a group where you entered the "map"-- I believe you should be able to mark where your individual guys are
thanks shadara for feed back. I am glad that the delay I chose for combat is helping iwth the anticipation. That definitely was my intent.
Any other inpput/feedback??
Mang Fu Ha Saan
On entry of the grove, yes I decided to have Strong Talon land, I may change that if I feel that Mang Fu Ha Saan should have reason to be suspicious.
Jerram
Down by the headstones? It seems like that would be the most wide-open area to come into. I've kind of marked where Jerram would be if that were the case. But I'm not particular.
Also, I can tell what most of the stuff on the map is, what about the lines? Are those rivers? If so maybe we ought to be entering from the other side according to the description.

Starting by the headstones makes sense to me. The lines look too widespread to be rivers.
I edited myself into the map. I couldn't see the triple arrows on the map after exiting Edit mode, so I changed my symbol to some sort of mathematical Q from this page. Hopefully, it's distinct enough to be useful.

Herkymr, is Gigi a man or a woman? I can't remember, and my sentences feel awkward when I can't use he, him, she or her.
I'm enjoying the game and looking forward to combat. I wish the story would move at a faster pace, but as I said the last time you asked for feedback, I'm glad you're laid back about post rate. This needs to be a game, not a second job.
I hope we're past the point of introducing major players. Right now, we have the rakshasa and Kharif as villains, with the Yellow Scorpions, the Copperhead Conglomerate, and the Order of the Eternal likely supporting them. Kharif and the rakshasa work against each other, so the villains have some internal strife.
For allies, we have the druids, represented by Gigi; the Witches of the Covenant, or at least Marry, their former head; the good dragons, who appear to like going around in elf form; the Sentinels, including Quinten's parents; the People who Came Before, or at least someone who knows about them, the Painted Dwarf; the ancient Infected Vitras; and whatever creature delivered a prophecy to Jerram. Assuming we're able to heal the triumvirate's daughter, we should get support from her and perhaps the oracle of water as well.
In the background, Milos and the Order of Blackwolf are working independently to address the storms, Triv is hunting Infected and Fifth Port is struggling to cope with an influx of refugees as the storms continue to spread.
I like this setup, but as my question about Gigi suggests, I'm having trouble keeping track of the characters. I might create an index to help, but I think we should keep the major players around the current level. That way, we'll be able to follow and contribute to the story even when we're busy with work, family, and other hobbies.

yes male.
the lines are small streams I had no way to lable them that made sense and was going to note it but forgot to.
Also just a quick reminder that especially when we get into combat and puzzle type situations it is very important to suspend our knowledge from our characters knowledge thus not metagame.
Metagaming ruins a lot of fun and frustrates others.

Sorry for not posting. Between Church conference and finding out that my dad was trying to build a roof on his own and get it finished before the rains started, my weekend kept me well away from computers. I read up on the posts and tried to update the map today but either I don't understand how or am not very gifted with this program. I should be parallel to Jerram one row of headstones over to the left of him.

It took me a while to figure it out. To add your market:
1. Select the icon next to your name and copy it.2. Click on the map. You should see a box with sizing handles around it and a toolbar beneath it.
3. Click "Edit," the first option in the toolbar. The map should appear above the rest of the document.
4. At the top of the map, you should see a row of icons, with the second-to-last being a T in a box. Click that.
5. Your cursor should change to a cross. Click and drag to create a small textbox with where you want to place Shadara.
6. Paste your icon into the text box.
7. Select the icon and click the "Text Color" icon, an A with a bar underneath it that may be underneath "More Options."
8. You should see a box with various colors. Click the one you want to use for Shadara.
9. Click "Save & Close," a blue button that should be in the upper right corner of the image edit window.
Google appears to save the document itself automatically, so you're done.

The map is linked to in my header. Also, I think I've got you in a good spot Shadara. Do you want to take a look at it and see?
Edit: I also changed your symbol, because the one that was there wouldn't show up once the image was saved.

Perfect, Thanks Jerram. Thank you Quinten for the instruction. I will see how it works the next time we need to update the map.

Herk,
I saw the post on the gameplay page and wanted to address it here. I went back a couple of times thru the story from the point of meeting the little creature that we followed until Mang "hulked up". I was trying to play off of Mang's response as from what I understood he was with our group. With the events that have happened so far in the game my character is a little jumpy at this point and is not going to offhandedly ignore when someone doubles in size and starts freaking out. I don't believe that my character would be able to see any danger but she would still look around for it.
Basically she am treating Mang's change as a "boy who cried wolf" kinda thing. This is the first time he has done it so she is readying herself and trying to figure out why he is freaking out. If nothing comes of this other than him literally getting a big head, then she might not react as quickly next time. Did I miss something in the read thru?

My perception check post has Quinten look around instead of studying the graves because Quinten didn't want to disturb the vines. You asked for a perception check. I figured it had something to do with the coming conflict, so I wrote a post that led logically to him looking around rather than merely making a roll.
While I'll admit I might have written something else if I didn't know out-of-game that a combat was coming, Quinten being worried seems reasonable to me. I've been assuming the groves play a major role in feeding Fifth Port, which suggests that the druids interact with outsiders occasionally.
If that's true, they should have places to meet where guests would be comfortable for an extended period. A clearing that reminds people nature can and will erase signs of civilization seems like an odd choice. It would make guests nervous instead of showing them how amazing nature is and encouraging them to ally with its protectors.
Quinten is looking for a possible explanation, not a threat, but I'll admit I'm hoping he'll spot the threat I know out of character is coming. I'm sorry if that's taking some of the fun out of the ambush. I'll try to be more careful in the future.
Having said that, I hope you won't hold the metagaming against me too much. This is the first genuine combat we've had in a year and a half, so I'd like Quinten to do well. It'd be frustrating to have him disabled in a surprise round. Pathfinder is a combat-oriented game, so I've got a host of abilities I've been itching to use that are rarely relevant outside combat.

I wasn't blaming anyone or calling anything in particular out. Part of what I was hoping you all have done...explain your train of thought for the posts. It helps me to understand you all as players and characters.
If I see an obvious blatant metagame, I am apt to pm the peson to discuss it. However if it does occur multiple times and the pm convo doesnt solve it ....then and only then do I penalize it.
I am glad you all are excited over the combat.
So, am I....been trying to set it up and find a "good flow" for it from other games and forumns. I think think think and hope of course, that I have got how to do it worked out.
With that said, when you make combat rolls....feel free to explain in detail the "cool actions" you take not just I swing my sword at the ugly monster hitting him for 5 pnts.
Put rolls in spoilers.
If the "action" fails, I will update the post with the result.
Anywho hope this helps.
Do We Have an updated character map yet?

Yes. From Jerram's header, here it is. It might be worth adding boxes at the top for Strong Talon and Quinten's summon.

When Mang Fu Ha Saan first entered the grove he was met with polite gestures and hospitality. Was lead through the populated areas and met Gigi with formal ritual.
This event occurred with haste on the part of the Shrew, an apparent lack of respect for the others given that is was a directive by Gigi to seek them out and return. Mang Fu Ha Saan learned two days ago his tribe is dead, a bounty is placed on them, the guide ran them through a dense unoccupied region with great haste making them follow quickly (an apparent tactic to prevent direction keeping), a clearing surrounded by dense foliage makes it easy for ambushing enemies to see the whole party without being seen themselves. Mang Fu Ha Saan made a perception check (with a high result) but as of yet received no feedback on the result so is not acting on any information outside of the reasons stated.
Mang Fu Ha Saan is a warrior, and he is on edge because of the past couple days, it makes sense to react this way.
