"If we're going to talk to the clerks at Rumblemountain's office we should head over there before they've gone home for the day. Grigory says, thinly veiling his displeasure at the inefficiency of interrupting Dr. Lynch's work and their own to brainstorm about their next move. "Maybe they'll remember someone coming in to look for blueprints of West Naos Market and Irefoot Hall and hopefully recall any other buildings they were interested in."
"I still think it's important to find the fellows at House Hynter who sold Kinman the enjoiner fragment and the antiques dealer from the West Naos market to see if they know more about it than he did. It's a shame we didn't know about the enjoiner fragment this morning or we could have saved ourselves a trip back to West Naos as well."

Krojun Hora |

Ignoring Grigory's displeasure Krojun says: "So what should we do first? I agree a talk with the clerks might be the first thing to do. I also think we should talk to the Hynter boys and hear what they have to say and if there are more fragments. I think we should check other shops even if they say there aren't any more." And adds after a short pause: "It's good to talk without worrying about who is listening."

Dublaine |

Ignoring Grigory's displeasure Krojun says: "So what should we do first? I agree a talk with the clerks might be the first thing to do. I also think we should talk to the Hynter boys and hear what they have to say and if there are more fragments..."
"Lets not forget this new post challenges us all, to work in ways we've never had to before, to face crimes that themselves are a challenge."
Dublaine added, somewhat amused that as a team they were clearly still finding their way.
"Anyway I think Krojun is right, Grigory you've already mentioned seeing the Clerks, first that seems like our first move. As for the Hynter boys, where might we find them? We ought to leave some indication as to where we are, in case the others return before we finish."

![]() |

House Hynter is in the Marble District, should be easy enough to find them if we head there after stopping in at the City Planner's Office. As far as the others meeting up with us... I think the easiest thing to do is have Dr. Lynch and Lady Trace go back to West Naos Market when they're both finished with their work so they can find out if there was an enjoiner fragment in that antique shop and ask about the tattooed Shoanti and Varisian witch Kinman mentioned and head back to headquarters. If they're not at West Naos Market when we manage to make our way back there, it won't take long to figure out whether they've been and gone."
"So... Off to the City Planners then?"

Eudonius Lynch |

Eudonius left the autopsy room momentany to join the others in conversation. He is wearing a white leather apron stained with red. After hearing his copanions exploits for the day speaks.
OK, it sounds like a plan. When you talk to the city clerks remember to use Miss Rumblemountain as an instrument of intimidation. She sounded unpleasent enough to be well feared by her subordinates...
Turning to the MSI secretary when she enters the room.
Mrs Brigglespan, would it be possible to have a messanger deliver a note to Lady Trace at the library to meet me at the West Naos Market when she is done?
And after she is gone.
I just want to add gentleman that you be carefull. As we dig deeper in this mysterty we come closer to unveil the culprid. It would be best if we are all together when that time comes.

Dublaine |

"Thank you for the warning doctor, you're properly right." Turning his attention to Grigory and Dublaine: "I will take the time to head past my shaman and ask him about any Skoan-Quah presence. I will do it on the way back from the clerks and Hynter boys."
Dublaine nodded in agreement before gesturing with his hand and adding "Right now we've sorted out what we're doing, lets get to the City Clerk office before they close up

![]() |

I'm going to preemptively post as though we're already at the City Planner's Office... If I'm getting ahead of what's going on, I'll just recycle this post. Two contingencies based on the dice, using whichever is more advantageous.
Diplomacy1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
"We're with MSI, investigating the West Naos and Irefoot Hall collapses," Grigory announces as he strides through the door.
If Diplomacy is successful:
"Ms. Rumblemountain told us you two had 'mis-filed' the blueprints for those structures and we were hoping you had been able to locate them... We also need to know if there had been anyone in here recently asking about those blueprints specifically."
If the diplomatic approach fails:
Intimidation 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
"And you fellows might just be on the hook as accessories to murder if we don't get some answers about those 'mis-filed' blueprints Ms. Rumblemountain seemed so upset about."

Nazard |

Okay, busy week-end. Let's see if I can get caught up...
Mrs. Brigglespan nods and mentions that there's a local delivery service she uses for such things. She scribbles a note down (in still elegant hand-writing) and heads out the door.
The rest of you head out and towards the Civic Building in Keystone. You notice with some amusment or chagrin that you walk right past the Stone of Seers where Lady Trace is currently doing her research on your way there, and just around the block, find your destination.
Upon your arrival, you find the doors open and go in. A sign indicates the City Planner's office, which is also open. Upon going inside, you see two men sitting behind desks with stacks of paper in front of them and on the floor.
One man, a name plaque on his desk reads "T Canolbar", is a balding man in his mid-forties. He shows evidence on the outside (and inside!) or his rumpled coat of having eaten a few too many sugar-powdered pastries at his desk.
The other man is little more than a boy, his desk devoid of name plaques. Pimples cover his lanky facial features and a mop of limp brown hair covers the teen’s eyes.
Canolbar dusts crumbs off his stomach as he stands up, and the hand he extends to you is covered in a paste of powdered sugar and saliva. "Good afternoon, gentlemen. What can we do for you?"

![]() |

"Ms. Rumblemountain told us you two had 'mis-filed' the blueprints for Irefoot Hall and West Naos Market and we were hoping you had been able to locate them... We also need to know if there had been anyone in here recently asking about those blueprints specifically." Grigory repeats, forcing himself to shake Canolbar's hand.

![]() |

"I'll also need both of your names and where we can reach you outside of this office, just for our records." Grigory adds, curious to see if it elicits more signs of anxiety from pimple-face.

Dublaine |

I'll see if I can aid Grigory in that I'll take a perception check also. Someone looks like they've been rumbled. 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Looking past Grigory and Krojun, Dublaine let his eyes scan the room, taking in all the details his keen sight could find before coming to rest on the younger of the two clerks.

![]() |

Good call, Krojun... Sense Motive: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Maybe Lynch was right about one of the clerks being involved after all. Pimple-face definitely seems to be acting suspicious so far.

Nazard |

Pimple face does go even paler at the mention of records. "Our names?" he asks, almost a squeak.
Canolbar wipes his hands on his coat, though whether to remove powdered sugar or sweat, you can't tell.
"I'm sorry to disappoint, good sirs, but we have as yet been unable to locate the missing blueprints. As for people asking about blueprints, nobody ever asks for the things, except Thora."
Bluff check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Need I say any more? :)

![]() |

"Yes, names. And where we can find you after business hours in case we need you for further information."
"And let's just cut to the chase... We know the blueprints we're looking for weren't 'accidentally mis-filed' like you told your boss and from the looks of things your attempts to locate them have consisted of little more than sitting around stuffing your face. We need to know where they are and who has them. We also need to know if there are any other blueprints that you fellows 'accidentally mis-filed.'"

Nazard |

Grigory, I'll use your Intimidate roll from earlier.
Even though Grigory's stare and words are directed mostly at the fat man, it's the younger one who cracks.
"Terry, this is serious. We're in real trouble here. We have to tell them about that guy! You know that's what this is about!"
"Jimmy, shut your stupid face!"

Dublaine |

Dublaine looks to up the anti and put pressure on the pair, "Oh dear, this doesn't look good does it officer Reinhold, clearly obstructing an investigation. Clearly with holding evidence. What do you think gentlemen, when the Judge gets to hear about this? Seeing as we've yet to get to the big fish, there are a lot of angry merchants and some fat taxes that the city won't be seeing on account of lost incomes. I think he might want to make an example of anyone connected to these 'accidents'! Don't you?
The last words were said in a long drawn out fashion, with an evil look from the whip like elf as he cast a sideways glance at the clerks inviting his friends to join in, by giving them boys an alley to side with them.
Good cop anyone?

Krojun Hora |

Me, me, me
"I'll be honest with you, I'll do my best with the city to help you out, if you just come clean now" Krojun adds after Dublaine's statement. He continues: "Think of this as an opportunity to help yourself and not someone, who doesn't care what happens to you." Then specifically to Jimmy: "I know it is scary, but be smart about this and help yourself."
In all honesty Krojun means what he says, if needed a diplomacy 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

![]() |

Nicely played, fellas. Guess I'll be the "medium cop" which seems fitting anyway based on my alignment.
"You need to tell us if there were any other blueprints 'mis-placed,' right now!" Grigory says, his voice gaining volume and severity with each word, then returning to a normal tone before he begins his next sentence.
"It would look much better in the eyes of the court if you 'saw the error in your ways' and helped us stop any future collapses. Otherwise, we'll be forced to consider both of you willing accessories to murder and make sure you're tried and treated accordingly."
Turning to the younger of the two clerks, Grigory softens his tone slightly. "You're just a kid, how'd you get yourself mixed up in something like this anyway? You'll make things a lot easier on yourself by cooperating with us. We can do a lot more to help you out of this mess than your chubby pal over there would be able to do."

Nazard |

"Me? I didn't do anything! It was all Terry. He took the money, not me!"
Terry, clearly seeing that he's been thoroughly ratted out, slumps down into his chair.
"No, they didn't get misfiled, and I never sold nothing. But...there was this guy."
"He was totally freaky, like, even scarier than you dudes. Though he did kind of look like you," Jimmy adds, glancing at Krojun.
"He said he was from some oversight committee for the Council, and needed to check on our record keeping. He gave me a hundred gold to take a long lunch. I tried to tell him he just had to file a proper requisition, and could keep his money, but he wasn't interested. I just figured he was new and didn't know how things worked in Magnimar, you know, being Shoanti and all, and hey, we all know the Council's got more money than it knows what to do with. Not going to hurt none to get some of it for myself."
"Of course, you know, I still have forty of it left. Ten for each of you, no reason not to share the wealth, one underpaid civil servant to another."

![]() |

I assume that all the quotes are Terry with the exception being the first line and the one directly attributed to Jimmy?
"So neither of you have any idea what files he took?!" Grigory shouts, becoming visibly enraged. Too bad I don't have barbarian rage powers!
If they can't tell us which blueprints are missing...
"You'd better figure out exactly which blueprints are missing pretty quickly if you want to avoid having attempted bribery thrown on top of all the other crimes we can charge you with!"

Dublaine |

"You'd better figure out exactly which blueprints are missing pretty quickly if you want to avoid having attempted bribery thrown on top of all the other crimes we can charge you with!"
Dublaine starts to count off the charges, so as to add to the heat Grigory was pouring on...Attempted bribary of a officer...say 6 months and public flogging. Oh and loss of job, of course.
Then there is not following proper procedure regarding the whole process, no asking for formal identification etc. Say another 6 months and a fine of 500gp. But then we get to the big ones. Assisting in the destruction of property and the manslaughter of an innocent night watchman. Oh I think they might qualify you for an all expenses paid trip, doing 40 years in Magnimar's finest dungeons or we can go the shortcut with a one way trip to the noose.
At this Dublaine slams his slender hand down hard on the counter, leaning forward his piercing gaze looking right into Terry's face.
"Now stop stalling and start back peddling! Because unless you start to help this investigation, your life, such as it is, will be over!"
[ooc] Ok dice roll coming up. I can roleplay intimidation in my head but on the basis of a bad roll, who know what I'll end up sounding like...just saying ;-) 1d20 ⇒ 15

Nazard |

Canolbar, already freaking out from Grigory's tirade, nearly swallows his back teeth as Dublaine's hand comes crashing down on his desk. A few tears leak out the sides of his eyes, and he barely turns away from the elf in time before hurling half a dozen undigested donuts onto his desk. It's hard to tell with all the blubbering he's doing, but your pretty sure Jimmy is actually asking for his mommy.
Once he's finished his throw up, Canolbar grabs Jimmy, shakes him, and cajoles him into getting the blueprints manifest do they can see if anything else is missing. "We'll find if anything else missing! Promise! It'll probably take a few hours," he finished weakly, "if you'd like to come back then?"
He's so freaked out at this point that he doesn't even bother disguising his intent should you three decide to leave them to their "work".

Krojun Hora |

"I'm sorry but that's not an option and you know that. Now came down and tells us what happened from the beginning, it'll make it easier if you come clean now." Krojun says firmly as he walks over and pads Canolbar on the shoulder.
I would like to ready an action to grapple Canolbar should he attack me

Nazard |

You can't technically ready actions outside of combat, but at this point, the only way Canolbar would have the stomach to actually attack somebody would be with its contents.
Canolbar, hope once bloomed, now withers. He winces at Krojun's gentle touch. "There's nothing else to tell. He gave me the bag of coins, and I took Jimmy out for a long lunch. When we came back, the guy was gone, and nothing seemed disturbed, so we figured he'd seen what he wanted and left."
Canolbar and Jimmy lead you into the records room, and the two go to work, comparing the manifest to those blueprints still accounted for. It seems that, despite their other failings, they do keep well-organized records, making the two other missing blueprints all the more glaring in their absence. In addition to the blueprints for West Naos Market and Irefoot Hall, those for Rimblesnuffin's Fine Jewelery and the Millis family manor are also missing.

Dublaine |

In addition to the blueprints for West Naos Market and Irefoot Hall, those for Rimblesnuffin's Fine Jewelery and the Millis family manor are also missing.
At last we can try and get a get a jump on this character, now all we have to do is work out how we can police two places at once?

![]() |

At least we've got some time to figure that out... Seems our summoner likes to work at night. As for Jimmy and Terry, I'm for getting a description of the suspect, taking the remainder of the gold he gave Terry as evidence and leaving them alone after reminding them they won't be hard to find and we have the option of costing them their jobs and likely sending them to jail if the information they gave us turns out to be unreliable.

Krojun Hora |

"I think you need to tell Mrs. Rumblemountain about his yourself, so doesn't here it from anywhere else before. I'll keep my word and talk your case, you did right, but that might not be enough." Krojun says to both of them as they help Grigory with his last inquiry.

![]() |

Hmm... Either the forehead tattoo only shows up when the eidolon is summoned or our summoner has a henchman.
"Glad the two of you came to your senses and decided to help us. We can't promise anything, of course, but your assistance will certainly look favorable to the authorities if they should pursue further discipline. Also, we'll be needing the remainder of the coins our suspect bribed you with, Terry. I wouldn't count on getting them back any time soon, so I hope you haven't made any large purchases on credit recently."
Once he and his MSI squadmates are out of earshot, Grigory whispers: "If this guy's willing to drop 100 gold just to get four blueprints, that enjoiner must be pretty powerful when it's operational."
"If the missing blueprints are an accurate indicator, he's halfway finished collecting the pieces and he knows where the others are. I think we need to get one of the remaining fragments for safe-keeping and then stake out the other location."

Dublaine |

Too late to edit my post... it should have said we needed "the remainder of the coins our suspect bribed you with as evidence, Terry."
Right what shall we do first? Bearing in mind we need to both try and locate the items and stake out the sites!
Dublaine, looked to his companions, "Criminals are getting worse and worse, we'll have to start making an example if even institutions like this fine establishment have been infiltrated with corruption. But right now we've got more pressing tasks at hand." casting a long knowing look back at the Clerks, Dublaine finished with a knowing look. A look that couldn't mistaken for anything else other than they best not come to their attention again, or they'd regret it.

![]() |

Which of the two newly discovered targets is closest to our current location? If we'll go past the library on the way we might as well stop in and tell Lady Trace about the new iformation.

Nazard |

The address for Rimblesnuffin's puts it in Vista, while Lord Millis' manor is in the Marble District. Both are on the Summit (you're currently in Keystone, which is an area of the Shore). There are maps of Magnimar on the website. While they don't have these buildings labeled, the districts I just mentioned are indicated.
If you decide to swing by the library, enough time has passed that Trace will just be finishing up her research. I think Eudonius' autopsy was to be done before that, so it's up to him whether he shows up at the Civic Building, joins Trace at the library, or hangs at HQ with Mrs. Brigglespan.

"Should we head back to headquarters by way of the library? Might be able to regroup with Lady Trace and Dr. Lynch and then head up to the Summit since we've got three locations of interest to investigate up there." Grigory asks.

Dublaine |

"Should we head back to headquarters by way of the library? Might be able to regroup with Lady Trace and Dr. Lynch and then head up to the Summit since we've got three locations of interest to investigate up there." Grigory asks.
Dublaine nods in agreement, "But we'd best explain things on the move, now we've got a lead..." He said leaving the obvious implication hanging in the air.

Lady Tracy Shannon |

Yeah Finally out of the library!
Lady Trace comes walking out of the library alongside another girl, "Thanks for the help Kayla, I can not tell you anymore until the investigation is over but I will see about afterword. Right now I need to...Oh Dublaine and Grigory, I was just on my way back to the office, did you find anything? Sorry Kayla, I will see you this evening. Bye." She waves to her friend and walks along with the others while they explain everything they found, and she explains her findings.

Dublaine |

"...Right now I need to...Oh Dublaine and Grigory, I was just on my way back to the office, did you find anything?"
Dublaine nodded, a trace of a smile played over his lips, but allowed the others to fill Lady Trace in.
Or just assume you are up to date and we're going to go back to get the good doctor
