Haterivet
Looking intently at the flames, monk concentrates, and after a while whispers something to Vairos. Then he starts dancing elegantly through the flames.

Bug runs through and gets hit, falling at the second jet, two seconds later getting fried by the jet again and again, his screams echoing in everyone's ears!
Kazmuk tries to run through and falls to the last jet and more screams ensue till they cease!
Voice: "The flame jets claim their first two victims!"
Menas Kriger
that is harsh, what have i woken up to find.
After having read the plaque Menas arrives to the fire trial smelling the burning meat in the air. "Well, this looks like a good plan."
Perception for anything hidden 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Looking around the room and spotting Varos looking at the flames as well Menas turns to him, "So does the Midnight Lord think he can get you and me through this Varos? It would seem my pact with Kazmuk has gone up in smoke..."
I wonder what happened to that other caster, maybe she will do some healing on the way through the flames...
resistance and guidance would be very useful here, i will hold off making rolls until Varos gets back and we can hammer out some agreement details. i will also be waiting for Gaza since if/when she drops some aoe healing i want to be there to leech some off.
Kwin Avassar
Kwin focuses on the flame bursts, seemingly lost in thought for half a minute. Then, putting his dagger in his teeth to free up his hands, Kwin darts forward.

Emilian
Emilian watches the monk suspiciously, and turns concerned looks towards Menas and Quain. Unwilling to leave them, he also doesn't want to get behind. Some of the healing or other boons promised to those who finish first would come in quite handy right about now.
"You can do it, guys," he calls back to them, wincing as the effort of speaking cracks the burned skin of his shoulder.
Kwin Avassar
Kwin easily passes the first 2 jets but the last scalds her on the leg but she makes it through.
You changed Kwin's gender with your use of pronouns; is that intended to be a hint at the extent and the nature of the burn wounds? o_0
Menas Kriger
Menas watches Kwin intently as he passed through the gauntlet of fire, perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9, trying to find a pattern between the prisoners he has seen suceed and the prisoner that have failed.
Something is not right here, defensive magic from Varos can't hurt my chances but I do not think this is entirely based on agility.
DM_Slaughter
The three jets of fire continue to shoot off in random order, awaiting its next participants, the smell of burned flesh in the air. Those who have made it through find that the corridor ends in a dead end. When they look around, they bump into what feels like another pedestal with a plaque, but without being able to see or read the words, they can't activate its magic. Sorry, for the next Trial, you all go in at once. But don't worry your times are frozen so you do not accumulate more time waiting for the stragglers.
Voice: "Six have passed, two have died, five left to take the test."
Quain
If Quain is not allowed to take 20 while observing the participants take the trial, here is my perception check 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24.
I will also be out of touch until Sunday 2 PM your time, as I'm going camping for the week end. So if there is no new information given by this check, I'll post my reflexes check.
Having spent a long time watching the other succeed or fail, Quain eventually launches himself through the fire

Gaza will help Justified to bind his wounds but not magic not yet, his help will have to be proven for that.(the lack of hp healing is ooc only in this case).
She will completly soak herself (and justified if he wants) in created water then tries douseing a flame jet. If nothing special happens then she will watch and see if any jets go off twice in a row. Or if there is a space above or in the middle wwhere she might levitate through with enough momentum.

If nothing special is gleaned from the above, then she will time her jumps at the end of each flame spurt hoping to minimize dmg if she actually gets hit.
Will roll soon, on my phone till Sunday and need to look. Up my bonuses and how to get brackets on my phone.
She will have levitate active so she will hopefully float through if anything happens

I hope having soaked myself shivering helps , after all if you soak your hand in water then you can stick your hand in molten lead and come out unscathed.
Varos
Looking at the flames and thinking for a while, Varos uses this moment to send his prayers to Dark God and soon the darkness begin to swirl around him, covering his body in small faint of blackness Guidance +1 and Virtue +1 temporary hp
Listening the request of Menas and thinking he agrees The Midnight Lord indeeds help when asked... but he is a fickle God but I am just a humble servant of his. I will extent my protection on you but for that I need to have some kind of proof that you will not betray me later
As he speaks he touches Haterivet and grants blessings of Midnight Lord. Looking once more at Menas, Varos touches his forehead and darkness begin once again whirl.
Plan is like this, if we manage to survive the flames, we stop in both rows where the flames wont touch us and I will grant each time to us a chance to survive the next burst of flames.. Let the Midnight Lord help us with this as he turns and jumps forward
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Menas Kriger
Accepting the Midnight Lords blessing Menas bows his head to Varos, "For what its worth you have my word Varos, i will defend you when the time comes." Menas looks toward Justified, "You may need some help as well friend..."
Bouyed up by the Kuthites magic Menas makes ready for the trial. Moving with Varos he takes the clerics arm and keeps them both close to Gaza as she makes her move. We stay within 30ft of her so if she heals herself(i think both she and varos failed the first save)we pick up some heals as well.
Finally taking the plunge he holds his shield toward the flames to give himself and the cleric a fraction more breathing room and places himself between the cleric and the flames. If Varos can claim some kind of cover bonus for me or my shield he probably should.

Menas Kriger
Breathing out a nervous breath and patting out what remains of the fire in his hair and beard, "Well that was bracing! Nice job Varos, the Midnight Lord must need us both for something." Moving close to Haterivet he holds out his hand to the monk, "Together..."
If I had the ability to heal i would definately not want to risk taking another hit from the flames before i used some, healing is no use to anyone dead. I think in the middle of the fire while he is recasting spells is the best time to chat with Varos, i doubt anyone else can hear anything over the fire.
Menas Kriger
I posted it public anyway, and i have to do something to pass the time while Varos casts spells. Also there is no reason not to plan surviving the next jet, planning not to survive the next jet seems even more unreasonable :p even if someone wants to listen in while we're in this room the sound of the jets would cover a whispered conversation that wasn't right next to your ear i would guess. I'm sorry if it looks like I'm playing the result, but i do not think there is any difference between doing it in the fire or next to the fire other than looking more shady if we stop in the middle of the fire and do it. I was hoping everyone looking back seeing me and Varos having a conversation in the flames would stir up some drama while we wait for the last few reflex saves.
Morgthar the Ravenous
Morgthar pops his head out of his cell, as he realises that everyone appears to have moved on. With a mental shrug, he trots off up the corridor and touches the plaque, pulled forward to the First Trial.
He waits for those in front of him to move through the jets and then cocks his head to one side before attempting to get through himself.

Morgthar hisses as he is caught by the second jet.
Justified*
|
Gaza will help Justified to bind his wounds but not magic not yet, his help will have to be proven for that.(the lack of hp healing is ooc only in this case).
It was Menas' wounds that Justified was asking for help with. He is not wounded.
She will completly soak herself (and justified if he wants) in created water then tries douseing a flame jet.
Justified gladly accepts the created water, catching some in his hands to drink as it splash over him. Thank you my lady. May your god be with us both as we try to complete these challenges. If your god could provide guidance or resistance I recommend it for the both of us.
Justified*

After what seems like a long time of contemplating the flames Justified suddenly moves. There is a strange look across his features; resolve or confidence, its hard to tell.

Perhaps overconfident, the third jet singes the Shoanti's left thigh but he can still walk fairly well.
Since Quain posted he would be out camping for the weekend, we can move on and he will catch up.
Voice: "11 of 17 have crossed, 1 left to try, and 5 are dead. A second of silence for Bug and Kazmuk. Guess it doesn't pay to be a goblin or a dwarf! All the Quain supporters are holding their breaths as he waits to try. Miraculously, the never say die Menas is still alive. Kudos to Haterivet for passing unharmed and to Cirnos for surviving all three blasts! Everyone else was wounded and/or badly wounded by the fire so take that into consideration as we move on. Place your bets!"
With all but one of the prisoners through, the pedestal with the plaque becomes visible. It reads:
TRIAL #2
"In honor of Gozran, the fourth month of the year, I give you the Test of Water!"
When you read it, you are again transported!
Varos
Varos breaths and look at his side and see some horrible burning. Deciding that it is better to wait for while until using his precious spell to heal himself, he turns and looks at Morgthar
Glad to see you alive, brother. I see you are burned as well but with more people together we can manage rest of the trials
DM_Slaughter
I know it's the weekend, but for those whose curiosity is torturing them, I will post the description of the Trial and then you may post/PM at your leisure your actions (wait for Gaza to heal, jump in, etc.)
Again, you appear in a 15' corridor, this time immediately feeling a chill air that to your open burning wounds, feels very soothing. As you proceed west again, you see a massive pool of water over green marble stone, which is radiating the intense cold. Obviously, the temperature is not at the freezing point, but it's very close so you can imagine how cold the water is. The corridor extends over the pool, like a platform. You see a ladder from the platform leading down into the water and another similar ladder attached to another platform on the other side of the pool, 50' away. The water level is 15' below the platform. The map will make it much clearer. Your Trial awaits!
Emilian
Seeing as how others are getting the same idea as he, he dispenses with subtlety and openly studies the walls on either side of the water to see if there are toe and hand holds for climbing.
He unfixes his shield from his arm and stows it somehow in his rags and makes an attempt to climb out along the wall, a foot or two above the level of the floor.
Basically, if he finds that the wall is about a "DC 15" wall, he'll try it, otherwise, he'll wait and see what happens when people try the water.
Climb: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Justified*
|
Well seeing that menas needed help not that part was for him I guess though when I heal after first jet I would try to get justified and whoever else is in his group. And kwin if possible. If bug is just at neg and not dead then him too hopefully.

Justified's burns heal visibly, but not completely with the blast of positive energy. He looks over to Gaza and smiles his gratitude. How badly are you burnt? he asks her. That water looks numbingly cold. Can you swim?
Justified then goes over to the ladder, inspecting it for stability and even testing it with his weight unless he sees flaws in it. He then peers into the water looking for potential aquatic predators.
Two perception checks
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 - inspecting ladder
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 - peering into the water
