This is going to be the place for everyone in the Lost Lands Mega-Campaign to participate in discussion about the campaign at large.
Right now that means all the players in "The Wizard's Amulet", "The Mouth of Doom", and "Valley of the Shrines".
There's no gameplay thread attached to this discussion thread.
This thread is going to serve several important purposes as the structure of this campaign takes shape but for now it's just a place you guys can chat if you want.

Janna - The Storm Maiden |

perhaps this thread would be a good place to post out campaign journals.
just a thought really.

Wilfort Spindlethwaite |

I found some threads about PbP advice, and Doomed Hero is working on one specifically with PbP GM advice! I'm really excited these tips will help me master the pace and momentum of PbP.
Have you guys seen these threads before?
Yes, all 3 are excellent.

Ridley Blix |

I've read Painlords before and think I skimmed through Doomed Hero's. The third is completely new to me though, and I'll be looking through it as well as revisiting the other two.
Hmm...campaign journal could be an interesting idea. Would there be anything even remotely similar to the Pathfinder Society of Golarion? More in the vein of an organization that would distribute the tales of adventurers, either reported or fictionalized? Printing press exist in this world?

First topic for the group.
Division of Loot.
Andrek aka GM Blood has an excellent loot tracker google-docs spreadsheet. I made a copy for the Wizard's Amulet group, and I suggest Raziel the treasurer of Mouth of Doom adopt it as well for his group.
If you guys haven't figured it out yet, WBL is kind of out the window in this campaign.
You can end up poor and magic-less, rich and still magic-less, loaded with magic and still somehow poor, or practically monty-haul, all depending what happens.
My tabletop group doesn't find that the usual loot division practices work out well, they have stopped "bidding" on items or tracking who got what percentage of each haul, etc.
The dungeons and lairs tend to have a lot of flavorful items that can be way over WBL, rather then just the standard big six stuff.
If a PC finds something in my home-group everyone thinks of it as that PC's property, but if that PC kept it when it was clearly in the interest of the party for the item in question to be in the hands of someone who could use it better, the party would give that PC a hard time.
They stockpile almost everything they find in hidey-holes and track it all, in case they need it for hirelings, new PC's (who come in severely under WBL), or in case their stuff gets sundered or robbed.
They have multiple Party Fund sheets, each designated to an area or container or location, like "Basement Storage Unit in Bristleback Inn" etc.
I'm thinking we have to stay pretty organized for PbP mega-campaign though, or it will become a mess to track who goes with what if say, Jerrid and Astor and Kevezyat head for Rappan Athuk while Damien and Vhillish head for Slumbering Tsar.
Check out the loot-tracker and tell me what you all think about approaching division of loot.
Special thanks to GM Blood for the spreadsheet!

Actually that spredsheet is a little wrong.
Jerrid gave the pearl of power to Janna who in turn gave it to Leo as thanks for healing her (and he is kinda cute).

I think GM Blood made that fancy spreadsheet. It will be good for us to all use the same template for uniformity across the campaign.
Me and the other treasurers have our work cut out for us inputing everyones gear into the trackers, so everyone please make an effort this week to see that your profile pages have gear listed clearly with values and weight.

you want Janna's .por file as well?

And yes the real world is frequently stupid. It's generally considered good form for pbp to give a heads up to your games if you will be unavailable for more than 24 hours. Of course this isn't always possible but it's something to strive for. Glad you're back at any rate :)
I personally would love to have a super-fast paced game but the fact is, that simply wasn't a stipulation during the recruiting for this round. I have at times tested the waters a bit to see how fast I could push things, but that was experimental, to see what kind of momentum the medium can handle, as a reference for myself.
I'm elated that a few players like Damien and Raziel and Hound can keep up with me without getting confused, but it would be disingenuous of me to expect more from the others than they signed up for.
Damien's point still holds of course, communication is always good, but if someone hasn't posted in over 24 hours I take it for granted that I have permission to bot them, so it's really no big deal whether they have announced what is going on in RL or not.
Ogrim doesn't usually post more then once a day, and sometimes misses a day, but when he does post he always seems to be aware of what is going on, and he never complains about missing out on anything that happened when he was gone. I think that's better then posting something in a rush before you take a minute to review what's going on and get your bearings. Sometimes he's the only one who hasn't gone yet in initiative and we wait a while for him to show up, but so what? I know if I need to bot him I can.
Announcing what's going on in RL is fine and good, but I don't really care why anyone is absent unless it's because they are losing interest. Then I would want to know about it for sure.

I will generally check the threads a minimum of 3 times a day. Before work, after work, and before I rack out for the night. If things are pretty active, I will check more than that.
If I'm traveling with family for the weekend I might not check quite that often.
I will usually give warning if there is likely to be a delay. But yes, if I haven't posted for 24 hours, feel free to bot or skip me.

My vision for this campaign is that somewhere down the line it will be possible for you guys to assemble teams for specific missions. Sort of like raiding in MMO's.
The beauty is, a team could end up together because of common interest in a particular adventure seed or plot hook, or for build synergy, but also for similar posting availability and pace preference.

Vhillish Quarrelwick |

Typically I'm around but its governed by workload; like Wilfort I'll try and check/post ahead of work and when I get back. If the oilfield is quiet then the odd (during day) post will be sneaked in :)

Raziel Drakan |

I like the idea Grimmy - now if only we could dispatch of those gnolls, and loot their massive treasure...
I am also usually around during the day - most of the time in front of the PC. As some of you already know, I am taking University classes at night, which eats up part of my possible posting periods (that should be over in May though... At last...)
Also, I am in Europe, so there's that.

DM Grimmy |
A few players have mentioned being overwhelmed by the fast pace at times while a few others seem chomping at the bits so it's worth noting that there will be room for both types if I can figure out how to pull off what I'm envisioning.
The trick is going to be syncing in-game time and PC levels between seperate adventuring groups.
I have pulled it off in table-top.

This was my inspiration for this kind of campaigning. I really recommend you guys read it if you are intrigued about how this might work.

Damien "Wet" Winters |

Thanks for sharing this, so far it seems like a wonderful concept and I think we can pull it off!
As far as the posting thing goes, I hope I didn't come across as being annoyed by the wait, was just offering friendly advice based on how most pbp's on these boards run.
I can generally check the boards multiple times a day so I can generally keep up with the pace fairly easily, but when it's slow I just see it as a chance to check up on other things :)

Janna - The Storm Maiden |

I like the concept.
I don't know why, but the concept of "Fairy Tale" came to mind
probably because I don't do the MMO stuff.

GM Blood |

I like the fast paced. I check most days a couple times at least. Will be a grand experiment in any case, excited to see where it goes!
FYI, thanks for the kudos on the spreadsheet but I must admit I just edited a loot sheet from one of my Age of Worms games so I cannot take credit for its awesomeness!
