Janna - The Storm Maiden |

Glad to see edwardsobel putting lots of content on the wiki page! +100 individual bonus XP to his character Janna.
yayy, of course didn't do it for the xp, but I'l accept it anyway.

What I'm interested in most right now is campaign journal/adventure logs, and character profiles on the obsidian portal site.
Journals:
Campaign Journal's are always good for netting the whole party XP.
Jerrid just posts his right in gameplay or discussion and I've been migrating them over to the adventure logs section on the obsidian portal page where they aren't buried under pages of posting.
logs/journals can take any form, from a diary, scrawled notes, or even ooc log of events.
I know MoD has only been adventuring together as a party for one day so there's only so much journaling possible, but I will say that sometimes the devil is in the details.
Profiles:
The Obsidian Portal character profile has just two sections, one for crunch and one for fluff.
100xp bribe is on the table for anyone who basically just fills out the profile with at least a non-trivial amount of content because I've been met with reluctance trying to get players registered there before but I really think it's going to be a key to the health of the campaign and the success of the party.
Any kind of fluff/bio/description is welcome but the best kind of fluff you can put here is a drive/motivation.

Will try and nail something down with Vhillish on the OP this weekend DMG - work brutal, home manic too - once I get some quality downtime I'll hopefully get something up.

Hopefully it isn't too hard to get people back and posting after my absence. It was totally unforeseeable but kind of a funny story.
Usually when I work big touring productions I'm just a stagehand, and I don't get show-called (I get cut when the actual curtains open, and called back when the show ends). But this week there were a lot of sick calls in the costumes/wigs department so I was staying for showcall doing costume quick-changes on stage.

I'm sure we'll be back and rolling in not time DMG.
Nothing to worry about, you were only out a couple days and we all understand about work getting crazy. Just glad you made it through in one piece. I know just how nuts even small stage productions can be!

It's ok, I understand the need! I've been going non-stop as well. I have been checking in regularly, but have only been commenting while necessary. I promise I'm not going anywhere!

Cool, I have a few days to devote to the campaign. Breather from the busy spring work schedule.
We're getting close to the point where the different parties feel each other's presence in the game world, so I'm going to be looking at a couple of resources to support that aspect of the campaign.
I purchased D20Pro, Realmworks, and an Ascendent account on Obsidian Portal.
I also figured out how to layer a numbered hex-grid over the campaign maps in GIMP. Next I'm going to work on re-making the map to be more legible and easy to understand visually.

Ghaelja Waldhaar |

Have you tried MapTools? It is really easy to just import a pdf and then drop a grid on it. Takes a few minutes to get the grid sized right, but once you have done this it is pretty easy.
If you do this, I discovered that it is much easier to use the vision blocking tools to black out everything, and then just make the parts you want visible visible.
EDIT - ah, stupid hex grid. Yeh, I have a hard time believing this, but have not yet seen how to do a hex grid in Maptools.

MapTools seems really cool, I did mess around with it a while back. I bought D20Pro though because they happen to have a whole bunch of content specific to these adventures I'm running. I don't know if I'll end up actually using it as intended (VTT) any time soon, but I can grab screen captures of the maps and throw them up on google docs for the PbP combats. I think this has a couple advantages over pulling them out of the pdf's and doing the same thing. For example a lot of the pdf dungeon maps are at a 1 square = 10', and the D20Pro content is already gridded at 1 square = 5'. That's the biggest thing. Maybe I can get some use out of the fog of war too. At the very least I'm supporting a cool company.

Damien "Wet" Winters |

For of war would be useful for indoor combats. But yeah, I agree that the best part is being able to adapt the maps built at 10ft squares easily. That us always a huge pain when I run games.
I'm excited to hear you're upgrading the already excellent quality of this campaign. I look forward to seeing the new world map!

DM Grimmy |
Yeah, it has been problematic using the world map I have had so far. It's a low-res scan of a hand-drawn fan made map made by someone on the necromancer games forum years ago.
Most of the players have found it illegible. When I look at it, I have no trouble making out the labels, but I guess that could be because I'm so familiar with the place names and layout, so I know what I'm looking at. If the text is a little blurry, I guess my mind just fills in the blanks because my brain knows "of course that's Bard's Gate" or whatever.
Anyway, I have been thinking about trying to make a better map in GIMP for a while but the only thing is, the official ones are not that far from being released. It would be a lot of work to do only to have the official maps come out, and I knew I'd be especially frustrated if there was a significant difference and the maps I made were rendered obsolete, because then I'd have continuity issues.
Bill Webb was cool enough to email me a sneak preview of the working copy of the master map though, hand-drawn by Greg Vaughan! So now I know the fan-made hand-drawn map I've been using is consistent with what they have coming out. So I'm going to go ahead and make a more legible copy in GIMP from what I have.

Raziel Drakan |

I have no experience with GIMP, though I have been wanting to give it a serious look for a long time now. Strangely my days don't seem to stretch beyond 24 hours, no matter how hard I try ;)
Grimmy, you were talking about 'official maps' - what maps would these be? Another release from Frog God Games, or Paizo?
And also, I hope everyone had a happy Easter :D

Astor Evisthan |

I've used GIMP quite a few times, but not for anything particularly advanced. There are a lot of youtube tutorials though, so that's what's helped me really figure stuff out. My crowning achievement was morphing my friend into the Monopoly guy.
