Koldur checks the perimeter of the tent finding a few tracks but none leaving the tent. Saren with expert precision slices down several more undead which were slowly looking for their next meal. Oscar goes back to the central tent to look for documents. The few remaining grunts/thugs/bandits tend to their wounds and stick to themselves. The two hobgoblins come over to Koldur, weapons sheathed. The more outspoken one asks, "Will you hire us?"
There is several chests in the room two with locks, two without.
Her bed is mostly made of furs and a few blankets.
An iron wash basin is in one corner as furs line most of the walls.
An assortment of weapons lay on a weapon rack near the opening flap.

Koldur looks them both up and down. His brows knit together as he considers their request.
"What are your asking wages?" He asks them, knowing that these hobgoblins are more like the merceneraies that he has come across.
| Koldur of the Axe |
Koldur considers their wages and then looking at them up and down.
"Pretty steep prices but you must have the skills to back them up considering we just went through a patch of zombies." he says casually.
"Other than gold. What else do you fight for or do you have no other interests?" the question seems casual though those who know Koldur is pretty certain the dwarf has a reason.

Koldur you think they are 2nd or 1st level fighters.
One of the hobgoblins has a serrated Longsword and a buckler, the other has a ransuer. They both look strong enough to carry their weapons with ease and the breastplate armor on their bodies. They appear much better equipped than most of the bandits.
The hobgoblin responds directly and to the point, "We fight to make our selves stronger. To serve Gorum in the walk of death. Finally to protect our comrades. We never thought Kressele or her bandits as our own, we had hoped it would be better but were proven wrong. I am Kreig and this is Doam."
Your group might want to decide what to do with the bandits, loot the place, decide if you want to stay or move on. You all level up the next time you rest. Post in discussion your roll of hp and choices for the level up.
Sable Soren
|
Sable comes back after finishing off the few undead that remained around the camp. He checks out a few of the tents around the camp before coming up to Koldur and the hobs. With blade on his shoulder in a relaxed stance he asks, "What do you think Koldur? Do we have room for them?"
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
| Koldur of the Axe |
Koldur grins.
"Get stronger?" Good I used to run such training ground and should we all survive this and you're willing, I'd be more than glad to bring you there and allow you the training you need."
Turning to Sable, he gestures towards him for the Hobgoblin's benefit.
"This here is Sable, the finest swordsman or one 'o the finest swordsman I've met. I be thinking we need more muscle and these two seems like they can handle themselves in a fight. Gorum would have seen them fallen in glory if they have not."
Opening his pouch, Koldur retrieves 30gp.
"Payment for 3 weeks from here. I'd hire you and I'd be glad to exchange pointers with you as well. Our Lord in Steel would be Pleased"
Sable Soren
|
Sable gives the hobgoblins a grand bow with sword in hand, "I am glad to have more willing and able men at arms with us. Please excuse me, Oscar is calling." With that he does a standard salute with his blade, sheathes it and heads into the main tent to find Oscar going through the papers and then the chest. He helps with the search.
He asks Oscar, "And what are we looking for precisely?"
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
| Koldur of the Axe |
"Aye Praise be Gorum! Now let us see what one of our companions have found shall we?" With that business done, Koldur walks towards where Sable is heading.
Sable Soren

Sable takes his time to look over the documents then points out some interesting points:
'Communication between the Stag Lord and Kressele (likely bandits).
There are fey and the necromancer getting involved with the bandit business.
There were some plans to attack the outpost.
The normal activity = mites, kobolds, their bandit movements, and dealing with other folk in the area.
We should look into the several trappers in the North and a ferryman in the South.'
| Koldur of the Axe |
"Well now I assume this Kressele is the woman who escaped. We can either take this staglord out or see about reinforcing the outpost they speak off." Koldur frowns.
Sable Soren
|
Sable smiles back and offers up his point of view, "Hunkering down to have the advantage sounds good to me. Also it appears to be the outpost with the dwarves."
| Koldur of the Axe |
Upon being pointed out that the outpost hit would eb the one with the Dwarves, Koldur chuckles which soon becomes guffaws.
"Oh the poor things. DO they know that there has being a change of hands?"
Turning to the Hobgoblins, Koldur asks
"Would you happen to know anything about the bandit's plans?"
| Koldur of the Axe |
Koldur nods.
"I guess that's that. We should endeavour to find out then."
| Koldur of the Axe |
Koldur shrugs as he studies the hoof prints.
"Perhaps we follow the hooves?"
Sable Soren
|
"First I think we should talk with the bandits outside. Oscar you are likely best with words would you take point." Sable asks graciously.
He will assist Oscar in talking diplomatically with the wounded bandits outside. diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 +2 to your roll

Within the locked chests you find mostly blood stained items of worth. About 80 gp of equipment. I will let you pick items out of this stock. There are also several pouches of coins, mostly copper and silver equalling 230 gp. About a dozen glass bottles of booze is within as well.
The weapons on the weapon rack are not mastercraft but include a war axe, rapier, longsword, short sword, multiple daggers, two throwing daggers, a short bow, and three javelins.
| Oscar Cray the III |
Very well Sable
Oscar heads out to go talk to the bandits he gather them around an deliver the following speech Automatic Detect Evil / -5 to diplomacy checks or other social checks done with evil aligned individuals for your party
There are only so limited options for you. For those of you who feel that they can repent of any evil deeds and try to set a course for a new start i will hear out your confession. This is the chance to unburden your soul. For those of you who do not and to not meet my standards a swift death is the best i will give after judgment is passed. Those of you who pass the test will be free to go. I would suggest a change of life. And for those of you who really want this are to change can join of efforts to cleanse and pacify the land
Diplo: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
| Koldur of the Axe |
"Aye what he said." Koldur adds on
Diplomacy Aid Another 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 What a way to restart this....
Turning to his companions he gestures towards the two hobgoblins.
"These two are on the level. I'd gladly pay them and if they do prove true, I'd recommend to my Hired Company back home as well. Fighters as good as them would prove useful." he grins.
| GM Wolf |
The bandits don't like what Oscar is saying. They seem hesitant but listen. With the offer of gold on the table they nod to each other. There appears to be no leaders amongst the bandits. Though one of them speaks up, he wears the only black boiled leathers in the group, "Sorry fellow we really don't understand what you mean by all that. If you are willing it looks like we can offer to help, for some coin."
The hobgoblins nod their heads in recognition. The halfling and the woman stand off to the side, the halflings handy work likely healed many of the bandits.
| Oscar Cray the III |
Ha so you want to bargain then why don't you and i go talk about it over in the commanding thent.
Oscar will signal to Koldur The rest of them may go or stay as they please or even work for us for coins it makes no matter to me.
oscar can contribute coins to employ the ex bandits. The idea here is to create a patrole force for the pieces of land we already explore and are under our control. The Evil bandit gets death as a punishment...
| GM Wolf |
With Oscar's cool completion and smile the bandit has no clue what is in store for him, his leg appears to have a wound on it and wobbles over to the tent with Oscar.
So Oscar what kind of signal? Are you trying to send a silent message? If so that would be a bluff check.
The other bandits continue to try to rest the best they can.
Sable Soren
|
Sable moves over to be in between the tent and the bandits. Blade still in its sheath and stretching his aching body.
| Koldur of the Axe |
Grinning, the dwarf offers no objection.
"Well boys. Rest up. We can explore future options for later but It'll be better than what you have now. We can be more then this but no shortcuts. I see good men and women here. No need for useless deaths. What say you all?" Koldur mingles among the ex bandit as he lobbies for them to turn over a new leaf. He envisions a new mercereny company.
| GM Wolf |
The bandits respond positively though not very excitedly. One of the ex-bandits ask, "What would you have us do? Many of us were more or less forced into being a bandit, many of us are hunters or farmers from the area."
The bandit hobbles into the tent the best he can and takes a seat next to the table.
| Koldur of the Axe |
"We intend to free this area. For now we need soliders. Once we have freed some land, you can go back to being what you were. Farmers and Hunters alike. At least now in future you'd have the skills to defend yourself. Give us a chance. Let us build a new home together."
Koldur urges.
Diplomacy I guess 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
| GM Wolf |
The ex-bandits respond, "We understand what you are saying but we don't want to deal with Kressel or the necro. More so the necro, you bring back her unholy symbol of power and we will band behind you. Until then is there a place we can recover? Where is your base?"
The ex-bandits seem more agreeable now after Sable's words, and let the issue die for the moment.
Sable Soren
|
Sable shrugs his shoulders and whispers in his old friends ear as he leans down, "I understand what they are saying. It might be safer for them either with us or at the dwarven fort. We can decide what to do once Oscar is done within."
He then speaks up hoping to settle the slightly riled ex-bandits, "I am sure we will all come to an agreeable conclusion, but allow us a few minutes to figure out what we will be best."
diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
| Koldur of the Axe |
"Agreed."
Turning to his companions,
"I'd say we at least find them a place to rest while we deal with our adversaries. The question is where."
| Reknar Heldergast |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Reknar nods at both his companions, after listening to the words from the 'former bandits', and noticing their attitude - "If they mean what they say, they may deserve a second chance, and a place to rest indeed"
The man lets the thought linger, and follows after Oscar into the tent.
| Koldur of the Axe |
Koldur sighs.
"Sack or do I need two?" directing the question to Oscar.
Sable Soren
|
"Koldur is asking if you need just one sack or two for the body? Should we use the tent to discuss or shall we go over to the one of the necromancer?" Sable asks without much emotion. He doesn't seem to care really, likely more likely wondering if Oscar made much of a mess in Kressel's tent.
| Koldur of the Axe |
"What Sable said." Koldur affirms his question since disposing of the body would have to be done anyway.
| Reknar Heldergast |
Oscar exist the tent
Evil has been meet with a swift and just punishment he says to no one in particular as he exit the tent
Reknar throws a sidelong glance at Oscar as the man does not specifically address him, and follows inside. Looking at the beheaded bandit, he methodically searches the corpse for anything of value without a word, and turns back out.
"So much for redemption" - he shrugs at his companions - "I guess it beauty is not the only thing on the eye of the beholder" - he chuckles - "He got unlucky the beholder was Oscar"
"What Sable said." Koldur affirms his question since disposing of the body would have to be done anyway.
"Depends on whether you want to bury the corpse with its head or not" - the man continues without skipping a beat - "Let's just get it done and decide where we will allow the others some pause and respite" - he finishes, joining Koldur for the grim task of burying the dead - "Once this is done, we head to the dwarven fort then?"
| Koldur of the Axe |
"Yes. I see no problem with that. We rest and then make our way to the dwarven fort." Koldur shrugs.
