The game begins at a dive in the red-light district of Magnimar. The Leather Goddesses of Castrovel (The Lashunta Race) are just finalizing their plans for the invasion of Golarion. The PCs have been abducted by the Leather Goddesses for the final testing of the plan which will enslave all of humanity. Unless this nefarious plan is stopped, Golarion will be turned into these twisted vixens' pleasure dome. Despite the PCs possible motives, this outcome is considered unfavorable.
The Solar System
The Planet Castrovel
That's right! A classic interplanetary space opera.
- This will be an "old school" game - and rules lite; meaning combat downplayed. Emphasis will be on player interactions with eachother, the monsters, their environment; on exploration, and on story. If you've played with me before you know these things are what I think makes a great pbp game!
- I will be doing very few maps. Players may make maps of our progress or post maps for combat, I will accept the maps any player posts as if I posted it myself. But if no one has time to make maps, then I don't either, and we can play out the action in our imaginations just like in the old days:) This works just fine in pbp if done right.
- 15pt buy, and please, no attribute can exceed 20 after all modifiers, to start with. Min/Maxers and powergamers, I'm sorry, I just don't have the stamina to run a game like that! I expect this to be 80% rpging, 20% combat.
- Start with fighter max gold. I will lvl you when it's time and treasure will be handled on a "after this encounter your total wealth should be XYZgp." basis. You can buy or own anything in the books accept unique items, which you must ask for. I will then drop them in the game...ifyou can pry them from the leather goddesses hands!
- Any race/class is fine, although I might axe something like anti-paladins. If you decide to be a summoner you will track all that crap yourself! I won't do it!
- Although the title sound lusty and the themes will certainly be there, we will keep this game Rated "Pathfinder Messageboard Friendly." The theme will be nothing more than innuendo and joking. A normal minded femenist should feel comfortable in our game.

Yeah, y'all got the right idea! The concept comes from Infocom's 1985 classic text adventure Leather Goddesses of Phobos. A true classic of earth literature, right up there with Earnest Hemmingway and Jane Austin's novels. Just a strait (of course), PG-13 rated adaptation. I just based the story arc on that old game...

![]() |

I'd love to participate, but I am afraid it would bring out the creep in me, and that would make me sad.
Nah, it will be tame. I just have a soft spot for that old text adventure.
@Arwyne: A druid would do well on the steamy jungles of Castrovel.
Sir Willard the no-nonsense Paladin works. He, and everyone else, just needs a back story that brings them to the Screaming Harpy Saloon on Dockside Ave in Magnimar where our story begins...

Irnk, Dead-Eye's Prodigal |

Dotting for the moment. Will have to figure out just which luckless, feckless lad (or lass) will find himself (or herself) thrust into the embrace of destiny...
edit: How do you feel about Synthesists? I had a Halfling Synthesists with the Childlike feat I made up as a kind of Rudyard Kipling's Kim meets Ben-10 concept for another game that never went anywhere...

![]() |

-Sythesists should fit right in. I can totally dig this space-agy concept of it.
-Renegade Lashunta is a great idea!
-Inquisitor of Calistra is perfect. Lashunta's hate freakin' Calistra, I think!
If you choose to be from Castrovel you'll have to tell us in your backstory how you landed your sorry tail on Golarion in the first place...
Also, I use characters backstory's as fodder for my games, so writing your backstory is a great way to tell me indirectly what you hope to see happen in our games.
Thanks to everyone who is showing interest!

Hmm. I'm actually starting to like the idea of a Lashunta scientist who is visiting Golarion. At what level will we be starting? The idea I have in mind truly takes off at level 6.
Essentially, the character was sent to Golarion to study the races, history, et cetera. She was chosen for her command of the Aegis' abilities, and was essentially left on Golarion a few years ago until such time that she could make her suit take her back to her home planet.
If starting at level 2, then she is an Aegis 1/Archaeologist 1.
I don't know much about Lashunta naming conventions, however.

Are you planning on having the group travel to Castrovel?
What is the deadline for character submission?
What is your position on the playtest's classes?
Whether they go to Castrovel, well, that's up to the group! Deadline: whenever we get 7 or 8 players. As for play testing, would you get much feedback out of this rules lite game?
Someone asked about starting level. Let me throw it out to the group - I am fine with starting as high as lvl 4 if the group decides. I always feel like i'm cheating as a player if I don't start at lvl 1, lol!
Counting off, I've so far got:
-Tatu "Tanque" Skarskind
-Scientist Lisa
-Vanna Barahal
-Celes Sontiri, the girl with no back-stori (yes it rhymes!)
If you live in Northern Hemesphere (of Earth) don't forget to go outside right now and check out the eclipse!!!

Googleshng |

(Or in a couple hours, depending on time zone.)
Anyway, time to get serious here. Here's a sheet (yeah yeah, still need feats and equipment). And here's a bit more of a general backstory/pitch:
Still, stubborn as he is on the subject of magic, he tries to be friendly to any youngsters he meets, hoping to open their minds to disciplined study... and maybe get a vollunteer to help with his equipment.
Naturally, the notion that there might actually be life on other planets strikes him as simply preposterous. Castrovel's orbit takes it far too close to the sun to play home to anything but toxic vapors, and Akiton is just a cold red rock. Clearly.
Waiting to see if I make the cut before setting an alias up... if only because this here avatar is perfect for this thread, and I'm not going to just switch to some dull old nerd yet.

Since the sorcerer class seemed to be already used, I've decided to go with an gnome bard with the archivist archetype. I have kinda started a sheet for her but since we don't know what level the game starts at I wasn't comfortable filling it out. Here is her back story
Years later, and after reading the astronomy section of the college three times, Figit began to travel to other schools and universities to see what they could tell her about the stars. More importantly, however, is the burning question of is there any way to get there. Now Figit wanders the globe, looking for a way to travel to such an exotic local such as another planet and meet it’s people. However, she knows that she has to put in the work and actually learn all about the subject before attempting anything stupid in her quest.
Also, Googleshng, maybe our back stories could be connected in that I am your student/volunteer? That could be fun.

Tatu "Tanque" Skarskind |

Well I prefer 1st as well, not only for character inception but because I like the difficulty of the first few levels (must be the ol' grognard in me...) but I am fine with 3rd or 4th to give us some more rounding out. I'll make Tatu at 3rd then I can always lower/raise him if needed...
Should have him finished in a few hours...

Tatu "Tanque" Skarskind |

Actually just made Tanque first level Fighter for now pending final level decision… Not going to go into Bard after all - with 7 or 8 characters there should be enough support...
Tanque was born in a bawdyhouse, his father, Linton “Squint” Skarskind, a bard of no small disrepute, his mother died when Tanque was quite young – the woman’s colleagues taking the child as their own - the lad's father an inconstant and ineffective parent.
Linton, a dashing, gallivanting ne’erdowell similarly met his demise when Tanque was less than a decade old. Orphaned and with no strong male role model, Tanque grew to maturity surrounded by the painted ladies of the floating world of faux-decadence and debauchery, his days spent drifting among his peers in rough and tumble games of physicality and rude explorations of Magnimar.
In time Tanque left the red light district and sought his own way; first as a porter for a nightsoil carter, then in a tannery, a chandler and a cooper. Tanque was however ill-suited to manual labor – while a strapping lad, and a hard worker, his imagination was always leading him astray. He finally gained employ with a Chelish caravan as a guard, crisscrossing Varisia, always returning to Magnimar where Tanque would bring new trinkets to his multitude of adoring aunts. Eventually Tanque earned enough to equip himself with armor and weapons of his choice, and a reputation as a solid blade.
Though not particularly bright, Tanque is possessed of an abundant curiosity, and a wisdom gained from an upbringing watching people and their decisions. Tanque is friendly and prepossessing, though he can be inwardly cautious in his dealing with strangers. His heart is kind and his mind clear.

Victor Jankowski, Private Eye |

The dame walked in and I knew I was looking at trouble.
She had trouble written on her like a matinee marquee.
It wasn’t a good day to be hung over, and the papers on the desk looked up at me with their screaming bold red printed words, “FINAL NOTICE”, “TERMINATION OF SERVICES,” and “OVERDUE.” A guy like me can only do so much and with my secretary out on maternity leave I was scrambling to keep the office from drowning in debt while I kept my eyes open for a good mark, a solid case, you know a cheating husband, missing rich uncle, anything that could pay forty a day plus expenses, but things were cold in Magnimar, right good and cold.
Damn Pathfinders and their Society of Adventuring Heroes. This town needed another group of these clowns like it needed another two-drink limit, upscale, wash your hands and face, street side, white linen table , boulangerie. Me? I never liked donuts anyway.
Then she walked through the door. She had a face a boy would leave his mother’s home cooking for, and a body that started at three inch red high heels and went all the way up to a pile of dark hair you could get lost in. And those eyes. Big eyes, big cry-me-a-river bedroom eyes that said, “Vic, you’re gonna be a sucker for the rest of your life.” I took one look at those big eyes, and I knew I wasn't going to like what she was going to say.
She told me a story about strange goings on in a dive down in the red light district and then she dropped a stack of Glens, five dollar gold coins, on my desk and said, “Please.”
Yeah, that’s right. This dame with the front-row seat hips and the long red nails said please and told me she wanted to know everything I could find out. She was ready to put four hundred in my pocket and hinted that there was a lot more where that came from.
I took the case, and put three hundred in the top desk drawer and stashed the other hundred in my coat pocket, just below the four inch dirk I kept close, just in case. Finally, a good case. The red light district was my old stomping grounds. Maybe Dolly was still dancing at Round Buckle’s. Be as good as place as any to start. And mother used to always say a little hair of the dog that bit ya will do the trick every time.
Oh, sure, the names Victor, Victor Jankowski, but people call me VJ and I work the streets of Magnimar. I’m a Private Eye, and this was the case I always knew I’d live to regret.
Anyone else thinking about playing a rogue?

Okay, looks like starting at level 4 will work. This is good, we can cruise for a while without disrupting play while everyone tires to level!
Roster so far:
-Tatu "Tanque" Skarskind
-Scientist Lisa
-Vanna Barahal
-Celes Sontiri
-Professor Quinto Addermire
-Figit Pattal
-Victor Jankowski. I thought for sure I was watching a Bogart movie while I read this backstory. Almost choked on the cigarette smoke in my imagination. Nice work.
Did I miss anyone?
Dudes/dudettes, we are going to pummel Celes' pimp at some point early in this game, I can see that coming already!

Victor Jankowski, Private Eye |

If Vanna is in the same “dive” that I am in, can I call it “Round Buckle’s”, I’ll approach her. I'd like to start here, then get a clue that sends us, who ever meets here, to the Sreaming Harpy with a plan of action.
Round Buckle’s is a dive, but more than a few times it’s been home. I picked a dark corner and order up a Short Fuzzy from the bar. I’d have had my drink standing at the bar, but I thought I recognized an acquaintance, Tanque Skarskind, Tatu they call him, standing at the end of the bar. I’ve been on the wrong end of his foot a time or two. That fellow will send you looking for a cleric who won’t ask any questions if you cross him a time or two, and I was in no mood to play it safe.
Then a cool blond walked in.
She was out of place. She looked like she fit in here as well as a kobold fits in at a samsaren tea party. I couldn’t tell a thing about her, but she had class, that you see from a mile away. I picked up my drink and approached this tall dame before she could find a seat.
”So, doll face. What’s a class act like you doing in dive like this on a Friday night? The names Victor, Victor Jankowski, but friends call me VJ. What do you say, can I help you find a table and maybe we can get to know each other better?”

Scientist Lisa |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Lisa watches as the man joins the new girl. She had seen him hound every woman in the establishment, and had begun to loathe him for his needlessly complicated speech.
She walks over to the man despite herself, allowing her ectoplasmic helmet to dissipate, revealing her strikingly attractive face.
"Sir, why are you so intent on invading everyone's privacy?" She asks, hoping to draw his attention away from the poor girl.

Dangit! Does this mean you have closed out recruitment? Yesterday was mid-terms for me so I didn't have time to solidify the character.

D'oh, spend some time researching Psionics rules and Scientist Lisa has usurped my concept. Would 2 Lashunta be too much?
Elai C'tara
Lashunta Psion (telepath).
Elai was a diplomat, skilled in diplomacy, and occasionally intel for the Leather Goddesses of Castroval, however she was kept in the dark as to their full plans, after stumbling across them one night after filing extensive reports on a newly discovered people, she was horrified by the depth of her sisterhoods depravity and fled through the portal network to try and warn the rulers of Goloarion.
Sadly for all her diplomatic prowess no-one would listen to her, and she finds herself in a dive bar in (wherever we start off).

Well, I'm a crash-landed researcher sent by the Goddesses a few years ago, so the concepts are different enough that we should be fine. Plus, I'm a skill monkey/frontliner and you're a full caster.

Victor Jankowski, Private Eye |

Sure, it would have gone swell, like butter on fish, then I heard that sound…
hssssssst
And I knew it was her.
“Why, hello, Lisa, um, Miss Lisa,” I was never sure how to address the strange but stunningly handsome girl. She was a pest. I’d done my best avoiding her, and likely she’d done the same. It was a shame really. I’d always wondered what she looked like under that strange fish tank she walked around in, and it wasn’t a long stretch of the imagination to think that below that angelic face was a body built for danger, and I could be the man to turn up the heat. But she was a smart girl, yeah a real smart girl. She could see through me like the glass at Jack’s delicatessen, and I knew there was little I could do to extract myself from the situation so I played nice, hoping to see if I could find out what brought this bookworm to the bar in the first place and at the same time keep the leggy blond from ducking out of my sight.
You got me there, Miss Lisa. I’m a big nose sticking myself in places where I don’t belong. You’d think a fella like me would have learned his lesson by now, but not VJ he’s a sucker for meeting new people. Now, this place is a haunt of mine, but I don’t normally see you stepping around this part of town. Are you looking for somebody? Maybe I can help you out. You never know, a friend can be someone you never expected.”

Vanna Barahal |

So level 4 then? Will get myself leveled up later tonight.
Vanna walks into a bar needing a place to sit down. She hates this part of town. People harass her constantly. Making a mental note to buy less expensive clothing, a man approaches her not even a minute after stepping into the bar. Now I'm getting irritated. Was supposed to relax in this place. Then another woman comes to her side, an elf maybe. Feeling my temper rise, I don't need someone's help, especially against rabble from the underbelly of this city.
"Yes. I would prefer a quiet place to sit. Find me a table and buy me a drink." You aren't sure if this was a request or a command, but you get the feeling she has practiced this speech for years, the way it naturally rolled of her tongue.

oh god what will happen to us in the campaign XD
"Well, I was hoping a big city like this would be more cultured than my old town, but apparently not. You've proven me wrong many times over already. Why do you insist on flirting with every female you meet, Victor? Everywhere I go, you're hitting on some female there, often me."As she speaks, Lisa motions for the blonde girl to get away from Victor.

”Aw, Miss Lisa, you got me all wrong. Flirt, why you’re implying I’m not sincere. Me, I’m just a nice, good natured boy from the neighborhood who likes the company of a good looking broad. You aren’t going to fault me for being lonely now are you? Now, we know each other, but I was just introducing myself to this lady here, and by the sound of it she needs a quiet table and strong drink. And, she already asked me so nicely to fix her up, so, join us and I’ll buy you a drink as well. What do you say, pax?”
I hold out my hand to Miss Lisa and give her my best half smile
”Name your poison, Dolls.”
I then gesture to the corner table
”And if you’re uncomfortable, I’ll ask a friend to join us, so its boy, girl, boy, girl and nobody has to feel left out. This little stick of fire is called Lisa, that’s the only name I know, and I’ve told you my name,” I say if Miss Barahal follows me to the table, ”But I didn’t get your name, and if you want to keep that close to your, um, chest, well then Doll that’s fine by me. What should I call you?”
