Once his friends are away from the door, Ulrich opens it and shouts a command to the dogs which do not seem to mind much. (Close.)

Instead, one of the canines dashes towards Ulrich, its fangs visible and ready to strike.

Reacting to an approaching threat, Elyna blasts a flame at the dog (Got cover; miss) while Pahleg throws a bolt of lightning at the dog. (Hit!)

Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
CMB vs CMD 13: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
You fall prone.

The rushing dog tackles Ulrich while biting him, knocking him down.

A figure cloaked in crimson robes slowly approaches from behind the dogs. His stature and green skin showing under the hood suggest he is a half-orc. "..."

Round 3

Elyna backs out slightly and gathers fire to hurl it at the canine assaulting Ulrich, "So much for muzzles."

5-foot step to AP/19, using burning infusion.
Ranged Touch Attack (Elemental Overflow): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Damage (Elemental Overflow): 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (5, 5) + 5 = 15
Miss chance due to firing into melee? (not sure if it applies while Ulrich is prone): 1d100 ⇒ 33

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that toasts the second wolf.

Round 3

"So much indeed, it looks like we will have to fight now." he comments as he moves past Elyna towards the second wolf and the half-orc. He thrusts his rapier directly at the creature, finally delivering the charged spell he had been holding for the larger part of the day.

Move Action to AU 19, Standard Action to attack Wolf #2. DC 13 Fort Save or 1 point of Strength Damage.

Round 3

The cloaked half-orc approaches the door.

Kekkle delays to 14.

Pahleg throws another bolt of lightning, this time aiming at the wolf at the back, Touch attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 (I think it also got cover?) but misses the mark.

Elyna's fire crisps the wolf that tackled Ulrich down. It lets no sound as it collapses down. (I don't think there's a miss chance when shooting into melee, but there is that -4 penalty to attack, which could be negated by Precise Shot. Hit anyway.)

Kekkle jumps over Ulrich, avoids a pool of burning liquid next to the wolf, and thrusts his rapier at the creature. Fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 The wolf does not seem to mind the weakening effect of chill touch, but does let out a silenced yelp.

The remaining wolf leaps at Kekkle, in an attempt to bite him. Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 Kekkle readjusts his position to avoid the attack.

Ulrich, want to do something?

Ulrich rises, armor clanking like silverware thrown down a stairwell.
Rising from prone as a move action- attack of opportunity provoked.

"You had your chance, beast!", he shouts, swinging his blade at the wolf.

Longsword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 151d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Sorry for the hold up, I've had a tough time connecting to the boards this weekend.

Round 4

Kekkle takes his focus from the wolf momentarily to address the half-orc. "I don't know who you are, and I don't much care. Stand down now, I don't wish for any further bloodshed."

An ironic statement, given that he is attempting to stab the wolf yet again.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Ulrich 0 lol

Ulrich stands up and rushes into the room, past Kekkle and the remaining wolf. (No wolves within easy reach. It was either this or go next to the wolf AU20, standing on the pool of burning oil. That's some fire damage and may catch on fire.)
AoO: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 (Miss)

Round 4

Without a word, the cloaked half-orc raises his arm and casts a spell. Fire erupts from his hand. Burning hands: 4d4 + 5 ⇒ (4, 2, 1, 4) + 5 = 16
Wolf Ref: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 Success, goes down anyway
Kekkle Ref: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 Fail
Ulrich Ref: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4 Fail
(Kekkle is at -9 hp, Ulrich is at 8 hp)

The sudden attack catches Kekkle off guard, who was not expecting friendly fire. He falls down unconscious.

GMPC Seeing a sudden blast of flames, Pahleg enters the room and channels energy. 2d6 ⇒ (5, 4) = 9 (Kekkle is at 0hp, Ulrich at 17hp. Elyna didn't receive healing, unfortunately) Kekkle regains consciousness, but is still weak.

GMPC Elyna enters the room and shoots fire. Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15Damage: 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (4, 1) + 5 = 10 The silent pyromancer goes down. (You know the drill: execute for souls, or keep alive for some reason)

Combat over.

With no obvious threats in sight, you investigate the assailant. His crimson cloak appears to be magical. A shortsword, previously unseen, hangs on his belt.

Advancing past the blazing chamber, the party finds itself on one side of a long, 20 feet wide tunnel. Just like in the previous chamber, numerous pools of burning oil fill the tunnel. The burning oil produces light in the dark tunnel (dim light), but the smoke that rises from it may hamper one's vision. Luckily some tiny holes, an inch in diameter, can be seen on the ceiling: otherwise breathing might become a problem.

As Ulrich takes a step forward, an arrow whistles right by him, landing on the wall in the back. It had come from beyond the smoke, and indeed, the one who shot it is visible, if a bit obscured by the smoke. A humanoid shape, for sure, but any details beyond that may be challenging to identify. "..."

(In these conditions, the Perception DC to see a visible creature is 5 + 2 per 5 feet away from it. As an exception to the general rule about rolling Perception, please roll two Perception checks whenever you take actions in this tunnel.)

Another arrow whistles from beyond the smoke, aimed at Pahleg. Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 Damage: 1d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + (3) = 7 It finds its way to Pahleg's shoulder.

Elyna delays.

Pahleg delays.

Kekkle advances in the hazy tunnel (I'm putting you behind Ulrich soon-to-be location, BH25. OK?) Kekkle notices an archer standing behind a pool of oil, just about to nock another arrow. He appears to be a young male human with blondish hair. Kekkle points in his direction as a sign for others.

At that moment, another arrow flies at Kekkle, coming from farther in the tunnel. Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 It flies way off.

GMPC Ushio advances. Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 Sees the same archer as Kekkle did.

Round 2

The visible archer takes a step back, nocks an arrow and fires it at Ulrich. Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 Ulrich's shield arm is quicker, and the arrow sticks to the wooden shield.

Elyna attempts another fire blast, this time hitting the mark with efficiency: the archer goes down.

Pahleg picks up a pebble (which seems quite thrilling), casts light on it, and tosses it down the hallway. (Not sure of the action budget here, but... no effect?)

Kekkle (a good assumption, yes. (Un)fortunately for you, the archer was already taken care of by Elyna, so I'll have you cast and hold the spell and move you forward to BG30, ok?) channels energy into his off-hand with only a thought and rushes forward in the tunnel. Perception 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15 Perception 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
As he does so, he begins to see two more shapes amidst the smoke, one right next to him. With a bow in hand and expressionless face, this person seems like a fetchling male. Hard to say about the other one.

The fetchling archer turns to Kekkle and fires his bow. Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 Kekkle dodges to the side, avoiding the shot.

GMPC Ushio rushes forward, avoiding fire and fired arrows, moving past his kin.

Ulrich (my bad, I probably should have chimed in earlier and said that Elyna's shot was enough), with the archer already defeated, advances in the tunnel.

Followed by another one, aimed at Ushio as well. Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6 The second shot seems to leave a painful wound on Ushio, who is now barely conscious. 0/9 hp

Elyna runs towards the action, followed by Pahleg.

Kekkle maneuvers behind the fetchling archer, who is now effectively surrounded (has leather armor, btw) but still defiantly evades Kekkle. (Don't forget to roll miss chance.) Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Kekkle notices yet another humanoid shape at the farthest end of the tunnel, likely another archer.

The surrounded archer drops his bow (free), takes a sidestep (5ft), draws a dagger(move...) and stabs Ulrich with it. Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 Ulrich blocks the attack.

Ushio remains calm and does not move, to prevent his wounds from becoming more severe, still providing a flank for-

Ulrich, who takes a step to his left and starts slashing at the enemy. With +2 from flank, that confirms. The evasive fetchling still hangs on, but seems just about to fall down (0 hp, feel free to mini-gm his downfall if you land a blow.)

Third archer nocks an arrow and shoots at Kekkle Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7 landing a hit.

Simultaneously the fourth archer does the same at Ushio. Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1 The arrow grazes him, and while the wound is not deep, Ushio falls down unconscious.

GMPC Elyna shoots a fireball at the archer in the distance. Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 78 Attack: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 7 - 4 = 5 However, Ulrich and Ushio get in her way.

Pahleg moves to Ushio's side and heals him, bringing him back to consciousness. (5/9 hp)

Kekkle advances and takes a stab at the third archer, but the archer's armor absorbs the hit. Kekkle sees this one is a female human, her tanned skin tone suggesting Zinn origin. Her face, like all the other archers so far, shows no emotion.

Archer number two clumsily attempts one final stab at Ulrich, Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 but in vain.

Ulrich cleanly decapitates the fetchling. Accompanied by a spurt of blood, the head flops on the floor as its body fades to ashes and dust.

Round 5

I think everyone agrees that this battle (1) has been going on for too long and (2) is just about over now, so after these two's turns you autowin. OK?

The Zinn archer hops backwards and shoots at Kekkle. Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5 Kekkle's wounds start to feel heavy. (2/14 hp by my calculations)

The last archer also targets Kekkle. Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6 In spite of his wounds, Kekkle finds strength to dodge the arrow.

After a few more seconds of gory battle, the party emerges victorious.

Combat over.

Obtained 34 souls.
Only 1 was killed: 3 of them are still unconscious

From frisking these four assailants, the party finds 3 longbows (1 of which is masterwork), 1 shortbow, a total of 35 arrows, 4 daggers, 4 suits of leather armor.

The backstabber's perfect tool. Most dangers in the Labyrinth come head-on, but the most vicious ones may be caused by betrayal.

Leather Armor

Armor, made up of pieces of hard boiled leather carefully sewn together.

Standard leather armor. Worth 1 soul.

Typical hide used is that of cattle's. Seeing as there are very few animals in the Labyrinth... what manner of creature's hide is this made from?

Pendant

A pendant made of fool's gold. Scratched and old, the only value it has is sentimental.

Apparently this pendant offers some mental comfort for its original wearer, but to an outsider it's just junk.

Did I really take that much damage? I though I only got hit once, towards the end.

Kekkle goes about finishing off the survivors.

"Perhaps this is something I should be reluctant to admit..." he says "But I really wish they would scream. It makes me uncomfortable, the incessant silence on the part of most are foes 'till now. If not screaming then groaning, grunting, I'd even take insults at this point."

"Given the trials we have endured as a unit, we should be able to admit as much to each other. I agree; these glassy-eyed fools disturb me and I hope that we shall not share their fate. More lucid company would be welcome."

Ulrich sighs, picking over the items left behind.
"A bow is wasted on me, as my eye is a serious liability. But I shall take one if the rest of you have little interest. Pahleg or Elyna- perhaps you'd like this crossbow and I'll take a longbow? Or we can leave this all as grist for our friend the Merchant."

"Don't have a need for weapons. I just wish one or two of them were a little shorter. I'd look like a child stumbled through her father's wardrobe in one of these. Those trinkets look intriguing though. Anyone hazard a guess what they are? Think they're madical perhaps?" Elyna says looking at the armor as well as the pendant and talisman left behind.
