Be it so known

The bearer of this charter has been charged by the Swordlords of Restov, acting upon the greater good and authority vested within them by the office of the Regent of the Dragonscale Throne, has granted the right of exploration and travel within the wilderness region known as the Greenbelt. Exploration should be limited to an area no further than thirty-six miles east and west and sixty miles south of Oleg’s Trading Post. The carrier of this charter should also strive against banditry and other unlawful behavior to be encountered. The punishment for unrepentant banditry remains, as always, execution by sword or rope. So witnessed on this 24th day of Calistril, under watchful eye of the Lordship of Restov and authority granted by Lord Noleski Surtova, current Regent of the Dragonscale Throne.

Kingmaker AP with GM Mustache Rules of Gameplay

Only a handful of Play by Posts campaigns make it out of the first book of an AP, let alone finish. The 2 biggest culprits seems to be 1) lack of GM and players pushing the action forward, and 2) lack of organization. Let's set some expectations so that doesn't happen to us!

Character Sheets and Rolls:

1. GM Rolls: Initiative and Savings Throw for players. In order to keep the game moving, GM will often do these rolls rather than have simple things take days.

2. Knowledge Checks on Monsters- GM will give the knowledge check and DC for it when you first meet a creature. It will be up to you to roll it as a free action, and then also take your normal turn right away. The GM will post the result of the knowledge check on his next post. Other knowledge checks, in the course of exploration, will be up to the player to initiate. Simply make the roll, no need to ask first.

3. Block Initiative: To keep combat moving, players will be able to go anytime their character is bolded in the initiative tracker. This means several players may go at the same time; the action will officially be recorded to be of greatest benefit to the PCs. (In other words, that bard buff will come before the fighter swing, even if the fighter officially comes first). For monsters, I will typically group similar mobs in a block initiative also. Different types of monsters may get different initiatives, but likely only in boss fights.

4. Going too slow: If you don't take your action in combat fast enough, I will delay your action until you do go and you will take the new place in the initiative order whenever you do move. If it takes too long-- a handful of delays, I will start botting you and reach out to see what the problem is.

5. Tracking actions: In combat, write what you do out as such: I draw my weapon (move action), take a five foot step (free action), and then swing at the monster (standard action). You can use "ooc" tags if you want, but not required given the extra time that takes in getting a post up.

6. Player Stats: Players will keep their character up to date on their alias page, i.e. see one of my characters . Though, you don't need to keep track of inventory, that will be done in the linked spreadsheet.

7. Vital Stats: Players track their most important stats in the race line of their alias (see character link above)

8. Buffs and Debuffs: Players track their buffs/debuffs/conditions in the class line of their alias (see character link above)

9. Accounting for To-Hit and Damage: When rolling do not say: d20+13. Instead, write it out: d20+5+3-2+3 where each number stands for s specific bonus. Then after the roll, write what they were (BAB, strength, power attack, weapon enhancement). This means a lot of writing. Ok, red alert genius idea, we will just make that part of the loot tracking spreadsheet. Enter your normal rolls into that and copy and paste from it. That will also make it easy to bot you.

10. Wow, do I ever hate comprehend languages. We are going to pretend that spell does not exist. A first level wizard spell should not nullify the entire concept of different languages in the game.

Posting Expectations, Removing Players:

1. I expect one significant post a day that moves the action forward. More are even better; don't let the one post a day thing keep you from writing more. Post as much fun dialogue or banter as you want with the party. Keeping momentum moving forward is the most important thing in making sure our game is successful! I care more about forward momentum than I do about 1-2 people dominating things. If you feel like someone else is dominating the thread, that is your fault, not theirs. My opinion is that you should post more to match them.

2. If players don't post as required consistently, consistently refuse to follow guidelines above, or cause trouble by stirring up drama in the group in gameplay or real life discussion, the GM reserves the right to remove the player from the game. If you have real life issues or vacations come up, please send GM a private message or mention it in the Discussion thread if it is not confidential. I can bot players as needed.

Crafting GM Mustache style:

1. Generally speaking you can accomplish 1000 gold base price per day if you craft while adventuring. Only one item per day can be made! (You can craft three scrolls or three potions as long as the base price <=1000).

2. If you dedicating an entire day to crafting, get 2000 gold accomplished. (You can craft six scrolls or six potions in a day as long as the base price <=2000).

3. Player spends 50% of the full cost of the item (or when upgrading, 50% of the difference between the base item and final price of the upgraded item)

4. Have the proper feats and proper spells needed. A scroll of the needed spell is fine. (usually just google search the item you want to figure this out)

5. Make the proper crafting or spellcraft check. If making multiple potions or scrolls, make multiple checks. A natural one on the roll does not equal auto fail nor does a natural 20 equal autosuccess.
You can choose to take a 10 on this check, or roll for it.

6. If you roll for it:
If you fail by greater than 10, the error causes you to lose all gold you spent and you can choose to try again.

If you fail by less than 10, you lose half the gold you spent and you can choose to try again.

If you succeed, item is created successfully.

If you succeed by greater than 10, roll a d100. Getting a >90 means the item was created masterfully and the GM will add some type of bonus to the item. Not applicable to consumables.

7. Example. Crafter wants to create a ring or protection +1. Base cost is 2000. Since he is adventuring at the moment and just spends time here and there crafting, it takes 2 days to make. He pays 1000 gold. He has the forge ring feat, and has the ability to cast shield of faith. He makes a spell craft check against DC 6 and gets a 20. Since he beat the DC by 10, he rolls a d100 and gets 95. The GM adds a special quality to the ring as it is a masterful creation!

A note about DC's:

The trickiest thing about the process is figuring out the right DC.

For most items, the DC is 5+the caster level of the item. For some items, you can find the DC by searching online. When in doubt, ask GM for help.

Here are some costs and DCs associated with adding +1's and 2's to armor and weapons

For simple armor and weapons, in terms of price, upgrades only cost the difference.
+1 = CL 3 DC8 weapon cost: 1000 armor cost:550
+2 = CL 6 DC11 weapon cost: 4000 armor cost:2500
+3 = CL 9 DC14 weapon cost: 9000 armor cost:4500
+4= CL12 DC 17 weapon cost: 16000 armor cost:8000
+5= CL15 DC 20 weapon cost: 25000 armor cost:12500
