Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |
Ready against the lizardman then. Position Tanith as needed to facilitate that.
Carina Viera |
Round 1: Actions
Standard Action: Throw Bomb at flaming goblin skeleton between turned one and lizard skeleton!
Carina twirls her explosive vial between her fingers before lobbing it at the burning goblin skeleton behind his turned buddy.
Ranged Touch Attack: Bomb! *Action Point Used!*: 1d20 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (12) + 6 + (2) = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Splash Damage on his buddies: 5 if they fail DC 14 Reflex Save, half that on a success.
Dungeon Kobold |
"Heavens." Robin blinks and closes the book, and takes another look around the room for something useful he may have missed.
[dice=(Perception]1d20+7
He takes a moment to examine the papers on the desk. Most concern surgical procedures meant to enhance the potency of undead, while others contain only the meandering scribbles of a mind descending into madness.
Buried in with the junk is a scroll that seems somewhat interesting and a beaker holder containing four 6-inch tubes filled with different-colored liquids. The glass tubes are sealed at the top, and look like they're meant to be slotted into some other device. Every so often, Robin thinks he sees something in the beakers moving slightly, but it might be a trick of the eye.
He also finds a note.

Round 1: Actions
Standard Action: Throw Bomb at flaming goblin skeleton between turned one and lizard skeleton!Carina twirls her explosive vial between her fingers before lobbing it at the burning goblin skeleton behind his turned buddy.
Ranged Touch Attack: Bomb! *Action Point Used!*: 1d20+6+1d6
Damage: 1d6+4
Splash Damage on his buddies: 5 if they fail DC 14 Reflex Save, half that on a success.
Although the bomb hits easily, it has exactly no effect on the burning skeleton. Its neighbor is equally unaffected.
Reflex Saves: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1
The lizardman zombie, however, gets burned (more) when it is unable to dodge. It collapses as its rags fully catch fire.
Robin O'Haranson |
Robin folds the note and tucks it into the book for later reading. He eyes the tubes cautiously and neatly sorts them into his pocket. Interesting? Yes. Immediately helpful? No.
Giving another longing glance to the carpet, Robin heads downstairs again and has his first real look at the room.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Dungeon Kobold |
Response to Robin's continued search will be posted next round, when he officially can move again.
Dungeon Kobold |
Farruk and Cuetzpalli still have actions this turn, then undead are up.
Farrukh Al'Khatel |
Farrukh moves forward, drawing his shield for protection and slashes at the remaining "lizardman" zombie.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
1d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Fixed Filge again. You keep leaving the "g" in ".jpg" off of it.
Dungeon Kobold |
Yeah, I just used the earlier quote and forgot that there'd been an error.
That movement takes you through the human skeleton's square (requiring an Overrun or Acrobatics check) and provokes an AoO from the non-turned burning skeleton. Sure you want to do that?
Dungeon Kobold |
Farrukh manages to cut a wide gash in the big zombie's chest. Though the injury is grievous, no pain registers in the creature's red eyes.
Cuetzpalli.
Cuetzpalli |
Cuetzpalli moves in front of AStraden, motioning Spiny to join him and they attack the skeleton there in unison.
________________________
Cuet attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Spiny bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14 hit?
Bite damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Dungeon Kobold |
Not that it matters, since that misses, but I think you forgot to include Spiny's bonus Power Attack damage in there.
The skeleton manages to dodge Spiny's attack. It claws mindlessly at the dinosaur.
Claws: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 41d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Mindlessly and aimlessly.
The burning goblin skeleton scurries with a loud clattering straight at Astraden.
Cuetzpalli AoO: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Spiny notices this and lunges, crunching his jaws into the creature's hip and splintering it in two, paying no heed to the scalding flames. For a moment, the flames seem to retract inward, turning bright green. The flame in its eyes dies.
Then the skeleton explodes.
Reflex Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Fiery Aura Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1 + Explosion Damage (halved): 1d6 ⇒ 1 Spiny takes one damage, easily evading the worst of the blast.
Meanwhile, the majority of the remaining undead flee for their "lives".
ROUND TWO:
You are up! Only the decaying skeleton remains of the un-turned undead. Map is updated—I'm keeping the Round One NPC dotted lines for now for convenience's sake.
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |
Astraden, any chance you could clear a charge lane for Tanith?
Carina Viera |
Round 2: Actions
Move Action: Move to Filge
Standard Action: Attempt to stabilize him with first aid!
Seeing an opportunity, Carina races over to the unconscious necromancer.
"Come on come on come on please don't be dead..."
She promptly gets to work trying to stabilize him.
Heal (First Aid) *Action Point Used!*: 1d20 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 6 + (4) = 15
Cuetzpalli |
Because I'm not power attacking? He has a hard enough time hitting as it. I haven't power attacked once with him yet. I did type the wrong number though :P
Dungeon Kobold |
Shouldn't his bonus to-hit be +6, then?
EDIT: Nevermind, I see your edit. 'S all good.
Dungeon Kobold |
Tanith, do you mean that Astraden needs to get out of the way? I don't think allies block charges, though I could definitely be wrong.
Round 2: Actions
Move Action: Move to Filge
Standard Action: Attempt to stabilize him with first aid!Seeing an opportunity, Carina races over to the unconscious necromancer.
"Come on come on come on please don't be dead..."
She promptly gets to work trying to stabilize him.
[dice=Heal (First Aid) *Action Point Used!*]1d20+6+1d6
Carina finds that the necromancer seems to have stabilized on his own.
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |
Barring certain feats/class features, allies do block charge lanes. I was going to have Tanith go after the unturned guy but I suspect Spiny and Cuetzpalli can handle him.
Cuetzpalli |
Spiny and Cuetzpalli attack the rotting skeleton again.
Cuet attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 Hit
Bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Claw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 Crit
Confirm: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Claw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Damage: 1d8 + 4 - 5 ⇒ (7) + 4 - 5 = 61d4 + 4 - 5 ⇒ (4) + 4 - 5 = 3 If 15 confirms add 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 to the claw damage before DR (which is included in those rolls).
Dungeon Kobold |
If you do want to go after that skeleton, keep in mind it's not blocked at all—those 'pillars' aren't really there anymore, and the things on the north and south aren't walls, they're stairs.
Dungeon Kobold |
Spiny and Cuetzpalli attack the rotting skeleton again.
[dice=Cuet attack]1d20+4 Hit
[dice=Bite]1d20+6
[dice=Claw]1d20+6 Crit
[dice=Confirm]1d20+6
[dice=Claw]1d20+6[dice=Damage]1d8+4-5;1d4+4-5 If 15 confirms add 1d4+4 to the claw damage before DR (which is included in those rolls).
Does the terbutje not deal bludgeoning damage? I thought it was basically a spiky club.
Surprsingly, it's not Spiny, but Cuetzpalli who inflicts the final blow as he brings the terbutje down, crushing the skeleton's skull all the way into its ribcage.
We're not going to play out all the killing of the undead. Not even the least competent of parties could fail to kill three basic undead—one of which being burned to death by its compatriot—in nine whole rounds.
COMBAT OVER! Now what?
Dungeon Kobold |
Robin folds the note and tucks it into the book for later reading. He eyes the tubes cautiously and neatly sorts them into his pocket. Interesting? Yes. Immediately helpful? No.
Giving another longing glance to the carpet, Robin heads downstairs again and has his first real look at the room.
[dice=Perception]1d20+7
The rotting shelves along the west wall hold a set of silver dining utensils worth 200 gp. Robin also finds two bottles' worth of fine wine and a perfectly good half-eaten dinner on the table.
Astraden Limhaare |
Astraden moves up to the northwest mirror and attempts to shatter it with her rapier. "They say it's bad luck, but our luck couldn't get much worse than a reanimated owlbear."
Rapier damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Cuetzpalli |
It's slashing. It would typically have obsidian blades, like this terbutje. Cuet's is made of steel though. So it's basically a funnily shaped longsword.
You guys are remembering bless, right?
Nope (>_<)*
Astraden Limhaare |
Astraden walks over to Carina and crouches down. She rifles through Filge's gear, whispering a spell. "Can someone tie him up?"
Detect magic up; Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21. I'll tell the party about whatever I find (headed to bed now).
Dungeon Kobold |
In that case, Spiny did crit. Not that it matters. ;)
Astraden smashes a mirror. From now on, she must roll every d20 roll she makes twice and take the better result.
Astraden finds:
Cuetzpalli |
"Why don't I just have Spiny sit on him? We're going to kill him after all the vile things he's done here right? I mean, we can talk to him first, but this one's a fiend in mortal flesh. He should be put down."
Farrukh Al'Khatel |
"Indeed."
"So, let's see if there's anything that looks expensive in here..." Farrukh begins searching the room more thoroughly.
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |
After wiping down the blade of his poleaxe, Tanith retrieves a length of rope and ties up Filge.
"While you lot clean up here, I'm going to search downstairs. Red, you want to join me?"
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |
I'm getting caught up with the loot sheet but I don't have anything from the first or second floors recorded.
Dungeon Kobold |
Filge's fine silver operating instruments look like they're worth something. Farrukh notices a bulge in the owlbear's throat as if it tried and failed to swallow something, though finding out what it is might be messy.
On one of the shelves flanking the operating table rests a glass tube about a foot long and half as wide. A slim green worm bobs in the murky chemical solution within the jar.
Downstairs, Tanith finds the room curiously ransacked of anything remotely valuable. He hears someone tromping about downstairs, and a lot of clanging, like that someone is gathering up a large amount of metal cutlery.
I'll update the loot sheet.
Carina Viera |
Satisfied that Filge isn't going to bleed out, Carina rises.
"Once he's told us which of these skeletons belongs to Alastor's family, you can do with him as you will. In fact, I think Edgar's starting to get hungry. Are you, Edgar?" She looks at her owletcub before following Tanith downstairs.
Astraden Limhaare |
Two syringes loaded with colorful soupy mixtures (both magic). These syringes can be attached to the vials found by Robin to serve as speedy delivery vehicles for potions or poisons administered to the self or others (a standard action in both cases).
A potion, also magic.
A magic amulet—a bird skull on a leather thong.
A dagger.
A key.
"Hey, this was the guy who was super afraid of Seekers." Astraden examines the syringes, the potion, and the amulet, pocketing the dagger and key.
Spellcraft (syringe): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 Spellcraft (syringe): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 Spellcraft (potion): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 Spellcraft (amulet): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
"It doesn't much matter to me," she says to Cuetzpalli, standing up and cricking her back. "I'm going to light a pyre." She carries the human skeleton up next to Filge and moves the goblinoid and lizardfolk bodies on top of the operating table (being careful not to touch the latter with bare skin).
When she sees Farrukh fiddling with the devices, she checks over his shoulder. "Might want to move those out of here. I expect this place will turn into a bit of an oven when I light the corpses." Then she notices the jar. "Wait, what's that?"
Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
She shakes her head. "Looks weird," she says, before heading downstairs to retrieve the mummy and head.
Cuetzpalli |
"Be careful to keep the bodies separate, we still need to bury the Lands," Cuetzpalli chimes in while Aatraden works.
Is Filge conscious?
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
With the first and second floors looted, Tanith retrieves Filge and brings him downstairs along with Carina (and anyone else that wants to tag along) for questioning.
”Okay Red, be ready to blow him up if he tries anything”, the big man warns with a smirk before pouring the contents of a healing potion down the wizard’s throat. ”Time to wake up.”
Astraden Limhaare |
"Be careful to keep the bodies separate, we still need to bury the Lands," Cuetzpalli chimes in while Aatraden works.
Is Filge conscious?
"Yeah, but we want them all to be available when Filge wakes up." When Tanith picks the necromancer up, Astraden sighs and retrieves the skeleton she had placed, following him downward. She also lugs the human skeletons from the entry room into the dining hall where Filge can see them.
When he looks to be coming around, she presses a finger on his forehead, and tiny violet sparks fly from the point of contact. "Which of these are the Lands' bodies?"
Touch of chaos, just in case he has some sneaky escape artist ranks or Bluff or something (and because I have six of them).
Dungeon Kobold |
Filge's eyes open. He looks around, jaw dropping. "Aw, this is no good. No good at all."
After a moment, he locks eyes with Astraden. "Lands? The hell you talking about?"
"Hey, this was the guy who was super afraid of Seekers." Astraden examines the syringes, the potion, and the amulet, pocketing the dagger and key.
Potion of Cure Light Wounds. Amulet of Natural Armor +1.
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |
Tanith’s eyes grow wide when he spots the amulet and hears Astraden’s explanation.
”You’re the one that was at Tidwoads!” the big suel explains aloud.
”Why’s this so important to you?” he asks showing his prisoner the golden ring.
Astraden Limhaare |
"The people whose graves you had Kullen dig up. There should be like five of them." She pulls the key out of her pocket. "And where does this go?"
Aiding Tanith's Sense Motive, if necessary: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Appraise on syringes: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Carina Viera |
Carina eyes the prone necromancer, not saying a word.
She scratches Edgar behind his ears.
Farrukh Al'Khatel |
Farrukh keeps his mouth shut, not being good at the whole interrogation bit.
He pokes at the Owlbear corpse to make sure it won't wake up on him, and then begins slicing its throat open to see what's inside.
Dungeon Kobold |
Tanith’s eyes grow wide when he spots the amulet and hears Astraden’s explanation.
”You’re the one that was at Tidwoads!” the big suel explains aloud.
”Why’s this so important to you?” he asks showing his prisoner the golden ring.
"Never seen that ring before in me life," Filge snaps, "but that's the sign of the Seekers. They've been trying to get me to sign on for a while. Came to Diamond Lake to study in peace, hear me?"
"The people whose graves you had Kullen dig up. There should be like five of them." She pulls the key out of her pocket. "And where does this go?"
Filge's eyes bulge. "That's what all this is about? I needed helpers, so I had Smenk's white half-orc fetch raw materials. Damn that pink-eyed fiend!"
Dungeon Kobold |
Farrukh keeps his mouth shut, not being good at the whole interrogation bit.
He pokes at the Owlbear corpse to make sure it won't wake up on him, and then begins slicing its throat open to see what's inside.
Inside, Farrukh finds a small emerald.
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Tanith looks at the ring again. "How much is something like this worth? And which of those bodies are the Lands?"
Astraden Limhaare |
"Yeah, I know, right? What a loser. Seriously though, what's up with the key?"
Dungeon Kobold |
The syringes go for 500 gp. each.
Tanith looks at the ring again. "How much is something like this worth?"
"What am I, your jeweler?"
"And which of those bodies are the Lands?"
"Hmph." Filge sniffs. "How in the Hells should I know? But if I had to guess, I'd say the corpses that are all at least a decade old are prob'ly from the same family. The fresh guy is the odd one out."
"Seriously though, what's up with the key?"
He rolls his eyes. "I guess someone who gets their rocks off breaking into people's houses might not've seen one before, but that's called a house key. Seeing as you probably messed all my property, feel free to keep it."
Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |
Does Diamond Lake have any sort of judicial system or is it superhero vigilante time?
I'm also not understanding his motives. He came to Diamond Lake to study. What was his interest in the Seekers. Did he come to study the Seekers?
