I'm pretty settled on Imagine being a complication of his.
Oh great. If I know anything about comic books, you've just guaranteed that Captain Robo and Imagine will end up in bed together. :P

Shadow-Star |

Proposed alternate power (using extra effort; will counter fatigue next round with a Hero Point)
alternate from array
I'll open a portal to the Shadow Plane between us and the Horde.
Without entering it, but using it's shadow/darkness as the medium for the teleport, I'll use Teleport with enough extra progression to carry Capt Robo (I'll add Portal to Teleport just so the 'effects' overlap.)
Dimensional Movement R1, Extra: Portal (4 pts)
linked with
Teleport R7, Extra: Accurate, Portal, Flaw: Medium; PF: Change Direction, Change Velocity, Easy, Progression R4 (2500 lbs) (35 points)
(Probably doesn't require both portal and progression, but whatever works.)
This will be a full round teleport, for a max range of 200 miles.

Seems to me that we don't have enough flyers to take them on in space. However we could use our flyers to draw them into a battleground of our choosing. Sinter, however, is not the sharpest tool in the shed, so I'm relying on others to come up with good battle plans.

You see Mongal and 14 Monguls
Okay, I thought this was a DC thing that I had just never heard of, but, just to confirm, we, in-character, do or do not know why there are 14 clones of Mongul running around, yeah?
(Ugh, maybe it's best to assume that the whole of my knowledge about these here "comicy books" comes from watching the "Batman vs Superman" trailers and go from there.)

tumbler |

No, you have no awareness of the Mongul Horde, and it isn't from any sort of DC continuity. Just my own evil mind.
You are aware of Mongul fighting Superman and Green Lanterns, and of his taking control of the Sinestro Corps for a while. (In the comics, those two are actually Mongul 1 and 2, who are Father and Son. And Mongal is 2's sister, but I am playing fast and loose here. Saying the Father did all of the other stuff and this Mongal is his strongest successor.)

![]() |

Mrmmphf. Kara has other things she can do if given prep time, and if we can find a jet pack big enough for Debbie, I can see her just wrekting some Mongulz. But apart from that, we seem to be besieged from all angles, so, yeah, mayhap the time has come to screw our courage to the sticking place!

Captain Robo |

Well, I mean, we fell for their plan, fled, and then fell for it again. Outside of what we know as player knowledge, falling back may be a good idea. There may not be any other big hitters back on Earth, but you could theoretically involve the military, or even call for more back up heroes if the horde tails you.

Sʜᴀʟε |

The plans they mentioned did seem to indicate that the attack at the Hall of Justice was only one prong of a multi-pronged attack. I suppose an advantage of falling back might be that we could check to see what else they're up to.

Shudder ain't posted in a week. Since he's kinda of critical to the battle in atmo right now, should we just bot him?
This was kind of a large group to begin with. It's only inevitable that there'd be some attrition, heading into the second act. :/

Cornielius |

Combined attack:
-attackers delay to the same point in the round
-attackers make separate attack rolls vs. the target
-take the largest save modifier of the attacks that hit
-for each other attack that hits, add +2 to the save DC
requirement:
-each attack must use the same type of save (usually Toughness)
-each attack must be within 5 points of the save DC of the power they are adding to
example:
-4 attackers hold until the slowest one's turn; let's say the attacks are a energy blast power rank 12, a punch power rank 10, a pistol shot power rank 6, and a mental blast (will save) power rank 10.
-the mental blast could not combine attack as it uses a will save rather than a toughness; the pistol could combine attack with the punch but not the blast, as the blast is more than 5 ranks away
-if the energy blast and the punch connect, the damage save would be 12 + 2 for a T save DC of 29; if the pistol and the punch hit, but the energy blast misses, the combined damage would be 10 + 2 for a save of 27

Sinter |

We can break down Mongal's numbers in a band of possibility on toughness.
She failed a DC 32 on a 3, but only one bruise.
Minimum then is 24 (32-5-3). Maximum is 32-1-3= 28.
Afterwards I tagged her again with the same DC after the bruise, and she passed on an 8.
8+x-1 >=32.
We know it has to be at least 25 to qualify, so her toughness lies between 25 and 28.

Sundakan |

Tumbler, would you mind moving things along a bit? This game is moving at a snail's pace, partly because I think you're waiting on everyone to post before updating. Things move at a much nicer clip if you give everybody maybe 24 hours to post a response to something, and then just move forward in situations like this where honestly our input isn't very valuable to the current situation.

tumbler |

I feel like I'm not quite managing to hook the characters here. I'm not a big fan of railroading, but maybe I should take more liberties and assume silence implies consent?
Not trying to hold things up. I was hoping that last bit would be a little more fun to play with than it ended up being.
Happy to take any and all suggestions.

Sundakan |

The plot very swiftly went in an entirely different direction than I was expecting.
TBH I'm not the hugest fan of time travel plots...they're really hard to pull off right. And it honestly doesn't make a ton of sense why we're here. Surely somebody else can do recon better than some random ragtag bunch of misfits they've never met before (and couldn't even distinguish who was who to begin with).
But I'll roll with it and see where it goes. It seems interesting in a general sense, I just don't see how we as individual characters hook into it just yet.

In PbP I think you're kind of forced to assume that silence is consent, just by the nature of the medium. It's easy to write some good RP about something you're against, but I think it sometimes just feels dumb to write "This is cool. I agree. Bring on combat!" even if that's what you feel like saying.
And there's nothing wrong with that. Some things catch fire and some things don't. Often it's obvious: Lots of posts? Play around with this scene more! Not many posts? Time to throw some more stuff/move things along/get on some rails for right now, hopefully things will catch fire at the next station.
Also, when you let more than 24 hours go waiting on others to post, it can sometimes feel like a punishment to the characters that do post a lot. Of course some people only post once a day, and that's fine. 24 hours is courtesy. 48 hours is negligence.
I don't think I'm telling any secrets here that sometimes I judge a game by how many posts -other- people make. If I see a game is stuck on 1-2 unread posts for a whole day, that can sap my own energy. But if I check a game and then an hour later is has three new posts, I start getting excited, knowing that it's okay for me to let slip the dogs of creativity since my energy has a good chance of seeing return.
That's just IMO. Everyone is different. YMMV.
(Also, as a rule of thumb, ignore everything that Sudakan says. =) I like the murder-mystery twist of trying to find out which of us is The Monarch. Feels kind of like a Betrayal on House Hill kinda thing going on. =)

tumbler |

Atlas, I totally get the whole energy thing. I just haven't quite figured out the signals yet. I'm free to post several times a day, I just wanted to avoid stepping on toes. I will set a standard for advancing plot at least once a day unless there is a lot of RP going on that feels like it shouldn't be squashed.
Sundakan, as for the time travel plot, the plot I was planning just kept getting more gonzo in my head. I wanted to run something really crazy. I know time travel is hard, but I figure worst case scenario everything goes sideways and we have to build a new reality.
And let me say that I do have reasons for why you guys are involved, but if you already knew them, that wouldn't be any fun, would it?

Sinter |

One thing I have learned over time in PbP here is that you are best off advancing the story at the rate of the fastest posters to keep things moving. Only wait if there's something which requires the others to be involved, like combat. Assume silence means consent, like Atlas said.
I'm fine with the plot as is and am curious to see where it goes (including sideways).

YoLlama |

Sorry! I have been swamped at work and to be honest I've been trying to wrap my head around the plot. I love me some gonzo stories but tbh I was expecting it to be more what was written on the tin. I didn't know we would be in an Exiles/Xtreme Xmen story. I don't mind it! A fm should run what they are passionate about. It'll just take a little adjusting. I'll post soon today. And setting the pace with the fastest poster is sound advice.

![]() |

I kinda wanted to give Captain Robo a chance to post with his super important data?
Other than that, do you guys think it looks like we've accomplished our mission here?

![]() |

It seems like we're at a crossroads. At this point we could choose to actually join the ever-reasonable Monarch, or return to Rebel One.
Any thoughts?
This is pretty weird as a super-hero scenario. The "Big Bad" is neither clearly bad nor really the bad guy. We actually have no way of knowing who is right. It might come down to personal taste.
Are we at least agreed that we should go back to Rebel One with our data?

tumbler |

I know this plot line has caught some of you off guard. I'm not sure how to get people back on board and get the participation back up. If you are still in for the campaign, please respond here so we all know.
As for the plot, this was sort of intended to be a launching point, sort of the pilot of the show, but I wasn't intending that everything revolve around this. You can muck around here as much as you like, but my expectation was that you would eventually head back home to continue the series.
