Roll20

1 to 50 of 128 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | next > last >>

You are all enrolled in the planar games. It is a competition for only the bravest souls, those willing to face death in exchange for great reward. This is your first round together as a team. After having met in the preparation room, you were all teleported a moment ago. Now, the smell of sulfuric smoke assaults your nostrils. The air is thick, hot and dark.

Everyone please post here so I can create roll20 avatars for you, and get them set up. Then I'll roll initiative and get this thing going.

Male Drow Rogue (Shadow Walker, Unchained) 3/Paladin (Dusk Knight, Tempered Champion) 3 | HP

"Well, this certainly seems interesting. Let's hope we do well, eh?" The half-elf shakes out his hair and winks at the others. "Of course, between my magical power and Razzy's brute strength, not to mention your own martial skills, I've no doubt we'll succeed. Pass with flying colors and all that."

Am I correct in guessing the eidolon would be allowed to be summoned ahead of time, or will I be without it for the first 10 rounds of combat?

Kodlak turns, looking at his teammates-to-be.

"Fight well"

Kodlak draws his bastard sword, gripping it in his right gauntlet, and he wraps the chains attached to the gauntlet around the handle and hilt of the sword before clipping the chain back to the glove. It doesn't look like the sword will come out of his hand easily. His other hand, covered to the elbow with a heavily spiked and reinforced gauntlet wrapped in strips of fur, runs his hand across his bandolier to ensure his potions and dagger are in place. A last minute check of the fittings on his breastplate, and a kick to the dirty sand by his large fur boots, and it is clear he is ready for combat.

Yes, You can have your eidolon out. Any picture for him/her/it?

"Greetings," XiaoLong says with a small bow of his head. "I cannot see in this darkness, I shall make some light." With that he pulls a small stone from his pouch, and releases it fly about his head. It sheds light enough to reveal the small chamber of igneous stone.

Male Drow Rogue (Shadow Walker, Unchained) 3/Paladin (Dusk Knight, Tempered Champion) 3 | HP

Joined the game with my current account under Brian L. As for an eidolon picture, the idea is that eventually it'll look something like this or maybe this, but right now it doesn't have flight and is still Medium-sized, so it probably looks more like this--think a bulky humanoid form that's made out of fire. The sword is a slight reflavoring of the eidolon's slam attack, since, you know, it's an elemental, and the "fiery sword" is really just part of its body.

"Fight well? We'll do more than well, we'll do amazing! Really wow the crowd and show them what we've got." Variziel elbows Kodlak in the ribs. "Isn't that right, big fella?"

When the monk pulls out the ioun torch and lights up the chamber, Variziel frowns. "Hmm. Have to say I expected something more...fabulous? The planar games. Expected some sort of big arena, you know? Ah well." He kicks at the floor and glances around. "Any idea if I should start casting spells yet?"

Kodlak grunts in the affirmative when prodded, but doesn't weigh in on matters of spellcasting.

Just waiting on Bærwynnd.

Bærwynnd stays close to Kodlak, his daggers drawn, preparing to try to flank any enemy that engages the group.

Male Drow Rogue (Shadow Walker, Unchained) 3/Paladin (Dusk Knight, Tempered Champion) 3 | HP

"Right, sounds fair." With that, Variziel begins chanting, waving his fingers back and forth, and wildly shaking his head in a decidedly dramatic fashion. After a few seconds of this, he lays his hands on the flaming man. "Stick close, Razzy." The eidolon responds with a hissing noise like frying grease, but it steps toward the sound to the northeast, with its summoner close behind.

Cast bull's strength on Râzvrâtitor, which will last for another 40 rounds. The eidolon has a readied Standard action to attack the first enemy to come within its reach.

Kodlak moves to shore up their line, his weapon ready to strike any foe moving in range.

single move to my current position, readying standard to strike an enemy that comes in melee range. No rage yet.

Yeah, the edges of what you can see are walls, they won't allow you to move through. I was lazy and didn't draw them properly, sorry.

Round 1

Just after XiaoLong speaks, a faint clomping sound comes from somewhere beyond the chamber to the south. A moment later a scrabbling noise echoes down the corridor that goes to the north east. The monk grips his three section staff, and moves to the exit of the chmaber.

"Right, sounds fair," Variziel says. With that, he begins chanting, waving his fingers back and forth, and wildly shaking his head in a decidedly dramatic fashion. After a few seconds of this, he lays his hands on the flaming man. "Stick close, Razzy." The eidolon responds with a hissing noise like frying grease, but it steps toward the sound to the northeast, with its summoner close behind.

Kodlak moves behind XiaoLong to shore up their line, his weapon ready to strike any foe moving in range.

Bærwynnd follows, staying close to Kodlak, his daggers drawn, preparing to try to flank any enemy that engages the group.

Begin Round 2

Variziel feels a chill run down his spine as he catches sight of something large moving at the edge of his vision. A humanoid figure wielding some kind of polearm dashes through the shadows at the edge of XiaoLong's light. Its feet clomp against the stone as it runs, ducking against the east wall.

"Incoming," XiaoLong reports. "Fiendish humanoid, six foot or so, it has a writhing beard of tentacles!" Turning over his shoulder he whispers, "It's seen us, we should hold the line here and use these walls as our shields." Then he turns back to their foe, his weapon held ready.

Suddenly a giant bird-like beast which is mostly head, lunges forward on four scaly legs from around the corner. Wisps of noxious black vapor trail from its hooked beak as it shrieks. Surprised, XiaoLong lashes out at it instinctively, striking one of its legs and snapping the bone with a loud crack. The devil bird responds by breathing a massive cloud of noxious black smoke onto the monk. He screams as his flesh begins melting. For a moment the monk looks confused, but then he shakes his head and roars, "TO BATTLE!"

Variziel, that's a wall. I drew them in to make it more clear. I altered your movement a bit to compensate for that. There is only one exit from this chamber.

"Something in the shadows--prepare yourselves!" The half-elf goes through another brief incantation, and lays his hand on the eidolon once more. "Now, Râzvrâtitor, attack!" Casting mage armor on the eidolon, which has a duration of 4 hours. If our combat lasts longer than that, something's gone horribly wrong.

The fiery man raises its hands and some of its flaming body coalesces into the shape of a large sword. "My pleasure," it says in a voice like crackling tinder, before stepping up next to XiaoLong and striking the bird-creature.

Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13 (+3 BAB, +6 Str)

There is a space around the corner. If you are willing to take an aoo from the bird I'll move you there.

Having issues with my internet connection at home, so having to do this on the ipad which isn't overly friendly with Roll20.

Bærwynnd moves forward with Variziel, tumbling past the beast to avoid its blow. Coming to his feet, he stabs at the beast.

Damage: 1d4 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 2 = 8 (+5Dex, +2Pirahna) I'm guessing the 12 doesn't confirm

The bird thing proves faster than Baerwynnd and lashes out at him as he passes.

Kodlak squeezes in next to Râzvrâtitor, risking an attack from the avian.

Heads up,

My posts will be sparing for the next day. I will be flying on a trip. The trip will be mostly leisure, but I will be working via phone/laptop. As such, I will still have time to post.

If you are one of those folks that has estimated the approximate times I am typically online, I will be on at different times. Five hour time zone difference will have me signing off five hours early, but also a drastically reduced work schedule will have me begin posting much earlier.

I will update today sometime.
