Torthen Azduum |

Sheesh. Busy with school and I come back to find 4 rounds of combat gone!
Right then... where to start...
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
It is with a keen ear that Torthen notes the wolves coming. And it is with rock-solid patience that he begin to deter their path.
He waves motions in the air with his hammer as he speaks in ancient tongues, and slams the head into the ground - causing a ripple within the earth to shoot out. A large portion of the ground suddenly rises in an explosion. This cloud of debris provides concealment to any creatures in the square affected and all adjacent squares for 1 round. There is also a 5' cubic pit in the center square.
It is with a satisfied grin that Torthen walks forward into it, and patiently awaits the next few.
Spell was cast on square N4; Torthen moves to M4.
Posting it now in case I miss my chance later.

Initiative Order:
Wolves, group 2 (16) - moved onto field of battle.
Rendel (14) - Fails not notice the wolves, but fells the last creature.
Smith (10) - Smith, even with a penalty, sees the wolves. They all looks the same to him.
Kendra (9) - Makes her perception check and again, screams!
Madeline (8) - Madeline, seemingly distracted with her injured manservant, fails her perception check. Her other action?
Tharnik (6) - ? (armed, injured) - starts chanting something...
Creel (3) - ? (armed)
Torthren (last) - ? *On his round, will cast Onscuring Mist*? (How does that produce a pit again? Got a link?}
Creel, your actions?

Creel |

Round 4 Init 3
I think Torthen cast Expeditious Excavation, but I'm not positive.
Perception 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
"Excellect sword work sir, excellent work." Creel moves to help Smith up while congradulating Rendal. Compleately missing the fact that they are about to be torn apart by wolves.
That is until Kendra screams and Torthen tales up combat lanscaping.
Double move to l-6. Exploiting the heck out of the first diagonal in a row does not cost double rule.

Madeline Peshtussle |

*Bows* Sorry, Madeline's actions.
Adjusting the white, Varisian silk scarf that is holding back Smith's long pale hair, Madeline places a hand upon his torn sleeve as he begiuns to rise. (Or where ever the wolves did their damage) and concentrates (DM to maybe describe how a Summoner sts a spell) as she works her essence into the injured Smith.
Cast: Rejuvenate Eidolon(Lesser);Heals 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 damage (I think as I am pressed for time and have not the access to the books atm)

Rendel Bladetwist |

Back from work! Now where was I? Oh yes being an avatar of righteous death.
Double move to J4 to check on Kendra. Have eardrums blown out.
perception if necessary. 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
"In the Inheritor's name, amen."
Flinging the other wolf from his blade he ended his prayer and moved over to Kendra seeing the orc and the manservant alive but tending to themselves. When she screams again, he sighs and flicks his wrist to slings off the blood into the grass before going into another prayer.

![]() |

Sorry it took a while to get back to you, I was at the beach all day....
Wolves, group 2 (16) - moved onto field of battle.
Rendel (14) - ? Moves to J4 to check on Kendra, cleaning his weapon.
Smith (10) - Stands, waits on Madeline to heal him.
Kendra (9) - Yells, pointing at the wolves. +5 to future Perception checks (Madeline, Tharnik, Creel, and Torthen benefit this round.
Madeline (8) - moves to Smith, healing him.
Tharnik (6) - limps over to L3.
Creel (3) - Begins to move to Rendel, turns, catches a glimpse of the wolves, and immediately moves to L6 (I6 is in the house).
Torthren (last) - Yells angry dwarven words and tears up the front yard, creating a pile of dust and big pit.
Kendra's shout is easily heard, even by those of you otherwise distracted with the easy work of cleaning weapons. Kendra shouts, "More, from the east! What's gotten into these beasts!" As your group bandages itself or otherwise starts to rest, the sudden urgency of her shout pushes you on, inviting you to battle once again!
As you look east, you cannot help but notice three more wolves, two similar in size to the ones you just felled, but another slightly larger and darker moving slowly behind them. You're quite certain this is the alpha of the pack, and easily the most dangerous. It weaves back and forth in the yard, looking for a route to charge into battle - when suddenly your dwarven companion bows down, picks up a handful of dirt, and utters some strange, ancient words. As he lifts the handful of dirt, a second, much larger pit appears in the yard, throwing dirt and debris into the air all around it. For a few moments, you loose sight of the wolves beyond.
(Only Creel and Smith have LoS - with the latter only seeing the northern most wolf)
"Oh Nethys, smite down these vile beasts with your arcane might..." Kendra yells as she suddenly squares her shoulders, turns to face the oncoming foes, and whips out a wand at her side...

Rendel Bladetwist |

Moving in behind the slower warrior Rendel raised his sword again not entirely aware of where the enemies were but trusting that at least the paladin might provide a good defensive bulwark. Or at least a good human shield.
Then he started a different prayer.
"Blessed be our soldiers for they march in light."
I think I miscommunicated what I meant. I was checking on kendra to see what the woman was screamin at since last i saw her she ran arouund the house. Anyway. Move to K5 regardless.

Creel |

Creel, militia training coming to the fore, steps backwards. Setting the but spike firmly into the lawn he calls out.
Torthen, form a line with Rendal. Tharnik, cover Kendra's flank."
Prepare to receive a charge!
5' step to K-6. Ready halberd vs. charge.
If they go for Madeline and smith this could be bad.

![]() |

Your journey from Lepidstadt takes you south for several weeks, skirting the Shudderwood on its western border for far too long. When you finally hit the warm walls of Courtaud, you are in much need of the warm bed that awaits.
The second part of your journey takes you south still, through the orc-infested rough hills that separate Courtaud from Tamrivena. You do so safely, but with the overall feeling that you were being watched (or followed) a good part of the way. You, among many of the locals in the city, are apt to agree. The Hills have Eyes.
The last part of your journey takes you south west, skirting the western end of Lake Lias before rounding it and turning east for the town of Ravengro. As you arrive, a wicked storm is brewing and you are both directed to the local inn, a cheery place called The Outward Inn, run by the retired singer Sarianna Vai (who was, rumor says, renowned in Caliphas in her day). When you inquire about the bad weather, several of the locals - simple folk from the farms, you note - remark, with no small amount of vile, that Ravengro just buried a known necromancer in the Restlands and the gods themselves are revolting. When you move to inquire further, Sarianna Vai herself moves to interject, waving you off with a warm cider and her own version of the story,
"Don't listen to those old fools. They're just bent because they walked out, armed with rumors and pitchforks, to disturb the funeral of old Professor Lorrimor and were turned away by a group of trained men and women from strange parts - friends of the old man, no doubt. Of course, they couldn't raise the whole village, so they came back here to soak their ill wills in whiskey an' wine."
When you remark that, you two, are friends of the old Professor, she smiles and goes on to offer her condolences.
"I didn't know him well, but he made use of my inn on several occasions, mostly to write. As I've heard it, you missed the reading of the Will and his funeral by a few hours, but I'm sure you can inquire in the morning. I believe Lady Kendra Lorrimor, and her guests, are still in town. I'll give you the directions in the morning with breakfast."
And with that, you finish your evening.
Your morning, however, doesn't start off as planned. Each of you need to make a Perception check DC 15.

Didn't you just double move at the end of round 4?

Vaghn der Grafft |

The Lady Kendra was here. Well, he supposed he had known that she would be, but he had not really thought about it before. He remembered the last time he had seen her, and the utter fool he had made of himself stumbling over his own words. He blushed at the memory and resolved to do what he could to look his very best when he went to pay his respects on the morrow. For now, bed...
Oh boy, my very first roll of the campaign! Here's hoping it's a good one!
Perception 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8
Aaaand... not so much. :P

Torthen Azduum |

Woosh. Tiredness and early morning syndrome.
It is with further patience that Torthen awaits the dustcloud to vanish. He readies his hammer further, and looks poised to counterattack!
Readied action: First wolf to enter within 20' of me, partial charge. Yay for -2 AC.
Attack Roll 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Damage Roll 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Aren't you standing behind a 5 ft pit you just created?? EDIT: Nevermind, you can charge diagonally..

As the wolves charge forward, Torthen rushes down, intercepting the one bound for Creel. As he does, he brings his hammer down toward the large beast's head, but it swerves at the last minute, dodging most of the blow. Torthen's strike still catches the beast in the shoulders, stopping its charge and forcing it to square off with him...
Meanwhile, the other two wolves charge forward, the large black wolf leaping 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13, but stumbling in the loose gravel and landing square in the pit.
Finally, the last wolf charges 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 (damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 + possible trip attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 vs Smith's CMD) Smith. As it passes, Tharnik attempts to strike it 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5, dealing 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 if he hits it

Rendel Bladetwist |

Rendel sees the wolf charging past to assault the already injured Mr. Smith and is relieved to see the black wolf stumble satisfactorily into the dwarf's efforts. Moving in to support mr. smith he calls to tharnik before resuming his prayer.
"If that thing tries to claw out of the pit kick it's head in!"
"Blessed be our blades, wielded with honor."
Move to I2 to flank with Mr. Smith.
Swift: Judgment for Destruction.
Attack. 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Nice! Unfortunately, I have to leave for work in an hour, so it'll be late this afternoon before I get to finish this up. But so far, it's looking like Rendel is going for the gold!!

This is my round 5 action. However considering my lovely init. It no longer makes much sense but that is what I get for posting early. :7(

When Madeline can, she will take a five foot step in the best direction to get a flanking attack on the Wolf that seems determined to eat her manservant.

To be fair mine was to file in behind you. I'd say this is an opportunity to correct your action.

Here's what I have so far:
Round 5
On 16 the wolves charge. Torthen rushes forward to meet one! He damages it, stopping its charge, but does not bring it down. A second wolf rushes past, charging into Mr. Smith. Tharnik swings on it, but misses horribly. Thankfully, the swing is enough to force it to veer slightly and it misses Mr. Smith. The last wolf, larger than the rest and black as night to boot, jumps over the pit but stumbles slightly as it lands, falling prone in the pit. It doesn't look overly injured.
Adjacent foes taking AoO receive an additional +1 to hit from higher ground. Attacks are made against the wolves FF AC, with an additional +4 to hit for it being prone. That's a +5 total. Please take this into account.
On 14 Rendel moves to I2, swings at the wolf, and strikes a deadly blow, cutting deep into the wolf's flesh. Unfortunately, he doesn't deal enough damage to drop it, and it turns on him, its savage eyes all the more hungry for his flesh.
On 10 Smith... ?
On 9 Kendra.... ?
On 8 Madeline... (posted her action, swings and misses)
On 6 Tharnik... ? (doesn't look great, but might move over to the pit as per the command)
On 3 Creel.... ?
LASTLY: Torthen (and only Torthen), you need to make a Perception check.

Creel |

Only time for a quick post now. More soon. Can't access map at the moment so no coordinates, sorry.
Creel moves to western edge of pit and stabs downward at the strange wolf.
Attack 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29 (+4 base +5 due to pit.) Damage 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Hey possible crit! Confirm 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25 Damage 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Sorry to crit and run!. back soon

Madeline Peshtussle |

I'm sorry, I thought Smith was still 'getting up' and 'being healed'. I din't think he had an attack in him. *Bows*
Att Roll:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7(Mr Smith)
Dam Roll:1d10 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 4 = 11(Mr Smith)
Annnd he follows in his Mistresses footsteps. "Shoo! Bad Doggy, go 'way! Don't make me get the rolled up Town Crier posts!" :P

On 9 Kendra activates a wand, sending two missiles into the pit to damage the wolf there (damage 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 4) + 2 = 9).
On 8 Madeline swings and misses.
On 6 Tharnik moves to M3, swings 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 (damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5), and deals it a serious wound.
On 3 Creel moves adjacent to the pit, swings, and deals the wolf there a killing blow! The large beast goes down with a whimper.
LASTLY: Creel and Torthen, you both need to make a Perception check.

Creel |

guys, I've been swamped all day. Look for an update tomorrow morning. I'm terribly sorry I couldn't get more out today, but sometimes it's business before I kill you all with a maddened pack of wolves....err ...pleasure.
Distracted by the lovely spring weather. It makes sense. :7) We'll be here.

Round 6
On 16, the wolf facing Smith, Rendel, and Madeline takes a five ft. free step (into H3) and attacks Madeline (attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17; damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2; trip attempt 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13). The wolf hits, biting her ankle and pulling her down (she's knocked prone), dealing a small amount of damage that hardly looks fatal.
The second wolf, facing Torthen, attacks as well (attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8; damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5; free trip attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11). This wolf misses.
Combat map here, updated to represent the field of battle after the wolves attack. Please NOTE - Madeline is prone and does NOT offer a flanking bonus if Rendel moves into i3.
On 10 Smith...?
On 9 Kendra..?
On 8 Madeline ..?
On 6 Tharnik ..?
On 3 Creel ...?

Rendel Bladetwist |

Rendel seems a bit surprised to see the wolf turn so savagely on Madeline. Perhaps the wolves prefer the taste of women? Regardless he continued his prayer but stumbles mid step.
