Hanethes Starsprings |

Hanethes also lowers himself into the water, deciding that a significant amount of soap would be in order once he returned to his native plane. His ioun torch lights the way.
He keeps an eye open for potential dangers in the water, despite the sting of alien chemicals.
Perception 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16 +2 to detect traps. (-5 due to poor vision?)

Kanthuun |

"A daemon giving obeisance to the Great Devourer, and a wasteland laid waste even further; it gives one pause--hey! Where did everyone go?" Kanthuun checks the Wayfinder, then frantically ensures that all of his scrolls are secure in watertight leathern cylinders, and trudges through the muck to the opening.
"They're all mad...mad, and I a Sorcerer of Chaos...Arasmes? Arasmes? Just some jackalweres for a change...Oh, hells and protean dung, fetchlings and black blades, I'll see you at the bottom."
Kanthuun casts Light on his hand and slides on in after Hanethes.

The Elusive Trout |

"Never thought we'd miss them, did we?"
The inquisitor gave a dry chuckle and took the rear, giving Kanthuun but a short head start after making certain the party wasn't followed.
I'd ad hoc as necessary, but Hanethes notices no traps in the flume or in the room below.
Within less than a minute, the girls were followed by Hanethes, Kanthuun, and Arasmes, the first of whom had a very intense expression on his face as he scanned for traps and pitfalls.
So, the party is together. One way out is obvious, as mentioned before. The hallway exit is 10' wide, but full of obstacles. A few exploratory steps should reveal it's also choked completely with cobwebs a short way in. Nothing a bit of work can't clear, though.

Talon Skyfall |

Talon will get to work on clearing the cobwebs with Stark while Hanethes is busy looking intense.

Talon Skyfall |

I is Talon!
1d20 ⇒ 12

Drovya Gregorovitch |

Drovya moves up to the left side of the stairs, ready to assist with any particularly heavy pieces of rubble that need to be moved.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

Rohini Soni |

Rohini is eager to get out of the muck, so she goes at least as far up the stairs as necessary to clear the muck. But she'll allow the others to go in front down the hallway. She looks down the hallway as well as around the muck filled chamber.
Perception:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11]

Hanethes Starsprings |

I am helping. I'm making sure that nothing peculiar is hidden in those cobwebs that he's so busy removing. I mean, that's the last thing we want: clear a cobweb, clear a cobweb, trip a wire, arrow through the head. :(

The Elusive Trout |

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
Yes. Yes you are. That wouldn't be a nice thing to have happen. You don't sense any traps, though.
Talon made decent headway into the cobwebs with the aid of Stark's keen edge, clearing away ten feet's depth before he becomes distracted by a discovery that Rohini and Drovya laid eyes on at the same time.
Tiny skeletons began to appear in the deeper webbing, and Drovya and Talon recognized the anatomy immediately, the reason for the isolation of the chamber behind them becoming painfully obvious. They were cacodaemon bones, some of which still contained soulgems and various other objects. Their minds barely had time to register this, however, before the sort of trouble that only a slaying could negate reared its ugly head.
The thing is seven feet above Talon, more or less, clinging to the wall. It is large.
Surprise Round for the Spi-eider and the three last mentioned. Initiatives are as follows: Hanethes, Arasmes, Spider, Petrova. :D
For those in the surprise round, and for the rounds following
Animals in the lower planes are always affected by the environment, making them fiendish. In the case of something as large as the spider bearing down on the fighter, this will undoubtably mean it has a damage resistance against everything but good-aligned weapons, and a nifty elemental resistance to cold and fire, and a chance for spells to not work on them. It's also a pretty safe bet to think something like a spider on this plane would be poisonous.
This spider, though obviously stronger than its Golarion counterpart, bears some resemblance to a black widow, the venom of which is both lethal and apt to stagger its victims. It also has a nasty tendency to eject entangling webs that are strong enough to be used as ropes.
The creature is immune to mind-affecting spells, you'd wager, and can sense the presence of others by vibrations.

Rohini Soni |

Knowledge planes: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Knowledge nature: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
How far away is Rohini? I thinkshe's at the edge of the murk, behind Drovya, unless some of the others came out of the murk too...]

The Elusive Trout |

I put the others just on the edge of the murk, except for Hanethenes and Drovya, whom are on the stairwell itself. You would likely be adjacent to Petrova, so twenty feet or so for you. I know it's difficult to visualize, but if you're behind Drovya, that puts you at twenty feet, as well.

Hanethes Starsprings |

Hanethes draws his pistol and attempts to tumble past the spi-ieder, hoping to flank the creature from behind.
Acrobatics
1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15
As soon as he is out of the creature's field of vision (assumed field of vision, anyway), he turns and releases a bullet.
Pistol
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30(touch) for
1d8 ⇒ 6 damage and 3d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 4) = 7 stealth damage if move successful. The spi-ieder also gains Bleed 3 if the stealth attack is successful.

Hanethes Starsprings |

Urk - not sure how you want to interpret that. If the acrobatic move is interrupted, can he still make the attack, even if not a stealth attack?
Pistol Critical Threat
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22 (touch)
3d8 ⇒ (1, 6, 7) = 14

The Elusive Trout |

Well, you can't really flank it, as it is on a wall(and too high to flank), but that did confirm, you stealthy devil. When you moved forward, you had to get directly past Talon and squeeze into a space he just cleared of cobwebs, but no AoO for the same reason you can't flank. Distance and height(though it will be possible next turn, if Hanethes wishes to climb some rubble. Also, I'm letting you keep your first roll for one of the damage die, so it's actually a total of 19(-5 for DR)
Talon was caught by surprise as a sudden shot erupted from his comrade's firearm at something above him in the darkness. The spider itself took a substantial hit from the action, immediately shifting its attention to the rogue.
"Best you put Stark to work above you, friend!" Arasmes called out, pulling out his composite longbow to attempt some coverfire.
"Looks like Starsprings already hurt it rather badly, but-,"
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
However, due to the slick nature of the effluvium he stood in, the bow slipped out of the inquisitor's fingers.
Wow. Sucks. At least it can be blamed on me. XD
The spider had its many eyes now focused only on Hanethes, and they belied some intelligence, though it was obviously still too stupid to know the strength of the adventurers it had made enemies of.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
All the same, the monstrosity managed to sink fangs into Hanethes' flesh, moving forward to do so. Which, unfortunately, does not provoke from Talon. However, it is now adjacent to both Talon and Hanethes.
Damage...1d8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 And I thought my dice would stop trying to kill you all if I used this dice roller instead of the other server. Why can't I roll like this when I play, I ask you?
Unfortunately, it's not over. Save versus poison, Hanethes-1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 Um... missed by 1... not good.
The pain was nearly unthinkable as the arachnid's venom entered the rogue's body. It would seem the half-elf just could not catch a break where poisons were concerned. The blood vessels around the wound took on a bruised coloration.
Con damage is 1d3 ⇒ 2 and Hanethes is staggered. So, recap-14 damage to the rogue, 2 Con lost, staggered condition (best get him help right quick). Both positions under the spider are taken.
Petrova, your move, and then the initiative starts over with the order of Hanethes, Kanthuun, Drovya, Spi-eider, Arasmes, Petrova, Talon, Rohini

Rohini Soni |

I know that I'm not up for a bit, but, based on what I know from my knowledge rolls, do I suspect that the likely consequences are continued CON damage and staggered condition, or do I have reason to think that there is a more dire secondary effect on the way? I can take care of the CON damage with my wand of lesser restoration. I also have ONE scroll of neutralize poison, but I'd rather save that for a do or die situation, especially since I won't get 4th level spells for awhile. (And please tell me if this is not appropriate comment on a play by play thread; I haven't played online enough to know all the etiquette.)

Hanethes Starsprings |

Hanethes's eyes glaze over as the spider's venom courses through his body, and he begins foaming at the mouth and convulsing uncontrollably for a few seconds.
Just to put something in there, while we're waiting.
Fortitude Save
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
And the convulsing continues.

The Elusive Trout |

Hanethes's eyes glaze over as the spider's venom courses through his body, and he begins foaming at the mouth and convulsing uncontrollably for a few seconds.
Just to put something in there, while we're waiting.
Fortitude Save
1d20+2And the convulsing continues.
To the tune of 1d3 ⇒ 3 Con damage, I'm afraid.

Rohini Soni |

"Hanethes! If you can withdraw safely, make your way back to me and I can help you. This seems to be a fiendish black widow. And, everyone, be careful -- she can eject strong entangling webs!"

Petrova |

Sorry, all. This dot losing business is really getting irritating.
Petrova whips out her sling, and lets fly with a shot before the spider can close with her friends.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
A pathetic amount of damage compared with the rogue's gun shot.

The Elusive Trout |

The shot from Petrova's sling bounced off the side of the spider's head ineffectually, but it did gain the monster's rapt attention, as the beast had yet to discover Talon's strength, and assumed instinctively that the bitten one would die within a matter of seconds.
On that note, the bruised discoloration on Hanethes' skin crept up his neck as the poison wracked his body further.
Still Hanethes' turn-teammate suggests withdrawal. Then: Kanthuun, Drovya, Spider, Arasmes, Petrova, Talon, and Rohini.

Kanthuun |

Kanthuun whips up a blob of protoplasm from nowhere and lobs it at the beast. "Let's see how you enjoy getting stuck, ettercap."
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Spider-Thing takes 1 point of acid damage/round and is entangled 1d3 rounds...DC 15 Reflex save to not get stuck in one spot.

Drovya Gregorovitch |

Drovya rushes forward with Black Ivan in hand, infusing the blade with his own magical essence as he closes to strike at the fiend.
Swift action to make Black Ivan +3 and keen.
Two-handed attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Crit damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

Hanethes Starsprings |

Hanethes pushes to his feet, finally lucid for a moment and scrambles away from the spider. (Move away or withdraw if allowed. Staggered is move or standard action if I remember correctly. I was confused, and thought I was stunned.)

The Elusive Trout |

Despite the blinding agony overwhelming his senses, the rogue made his way back to Rohini, at which point Kanthuun let loose his protoplasmic attack and debilitated the beast by hampering its movement. Indeed, the spider was so distracted that Drovya's following attack from Hanethes' previous position cut directly into the monster's brain.
The fiendish arachnid went limp, but didn't fall on the front lines immediately due to the glue-like protoplasm holding it to the wall.
Combat over. Sorry two of you didnae get a turn.

The Elusive Trout |

Initiative is only still partially thought of for the sake of poison saves.
Arasmes approached Rohini and Hanethes with all haste, ready to help however he could.
If Rohini is making a heal check to treat poison, we'll have an aid another. If she's spamming the wand or Bit-O-Lucking it, we'll just have our absentee inquisitor make the check.

Talon Skyfall |

It's okay. It's better than spending the encounter dying.
"Good work. I didn't even notice it."

Rohini Soni |

Probably it makes most sense for Arasmes to heal Hanethes so Hanethes gets a +4 if Arasmes succeeds. And Rohini will use bit of luck as necessary to give Hanethes a better chance of making his saves. Then, once Hanethes isn't taking more damage Rohini will use the wand to heal the CON damage. Unless Hanethes prefers a different plan.

Drovya Gregorovitch |

Drovya cleans off Black Ivan with a softly murmured prestidigitation then shakes his head to try to clear the ringing from his ears after the pistol shot.
Gods above, that thing is loud. Effective, he notes the smoking crater in the spider's thorax where Hanethes shot landed, but loud.

Drovya Gregorovitch |

No need to apologize my friend. Just rest easy and we'll see if we can get you patched up. Drovya crouches down next to Hanethes and offers him some water. I have a vial of antitoxin with me if you want it.

Hanethes Starsprings |

That reminds me, do I need to make a save each round against this poison? If so, I'll take the antitoxin. This will be one of the most deadly poisons I've encountered in Pathfinder to date. Well, besides one my alchemist made and used once.
Fort Save
1d20 + 2 - 2 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 2 - 2 + 5 = 14
1d3 ⇒ 1
Fort Save
1d20 + 2 - 3 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 2 - 3 + 5 = 16
1d3 ⇒ 2
Grrr, I'm dying. lol. Well, if you all can get me patched up before the second save, I should be good. Oh wait, how many saves do I have to make to cure it?
Edit: If you all want to do this another way, (an easier, more streamlined method that I'm not thinking of at the moment), we'll redo it that way. :)

Rohini Soni |

If you're using Rohini's bit of luck, the second roll may be good enough, especially if you have a +4 from Arasmes (if he made his roll on his heal skill). Tell me how low your CON is. If you're really bad off, Rohini can stop giving you luck and use the lesser restoration wand while you continue to try to make your rolls. Alternately, is there someone else that can use the wand on Hanethes?

The Elusive Trout |

Le gasp! I was asleep-not conducive to making things work out. Believe it or not, the poison isn't augmented at all. It is exactly as it is on a CR 3 monster in the B3! All it takes is one save, but the DC still is 17.
Arasmes steadied the rogue shortly after Rohini used her Bit of Luck ability on the poor man in order to treat the poison manually, calm as ever.
So we use those same two rolls for this, including Bit of Luck-Okay, save failed (though this is replacing the +5 withthe +4 from treating poison
Drovya gifted the antitoxin to Hanethes, which was compounded by another boon of luck via Rohini.
Which means that, despite the negs, you get a +9 to offset everything, and two chances to save for the second bout.
1d20 + 2 - 3 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 2 - 3 + 5 + 4 = 201d20 + 2 - 3 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 2 - 3 + 5 + 4 = 16
After what seemed like a small eternity, the poison stopped its progression, leaving Hanethes with his consciousness intact.
Since I was writing this, Rohini's post compels me to say this: Arasmes can also use the wand of Lesser Restoration.
Rohini, you've used two Bits of Luck today.

Rohini Soni |

Whew! Having finally stopped the progress of the poison, Rohini uses the wand of lesser restoration on Hanethes.
Wand: 1d4 ⇒ 4
again: 1d4 ⇒ 3
"How do you feel now?"
