Yazi lifts the cloth on the nearest object, and sees a hideous creature who combines the shapes of a lizard and a rooster, similar to a cockatrice. Smoke and tiny tendrils of flame rise from the creature's feathers. The chicken-like bird is red, black, and a rusty brown all over. It flaps it's wings angrily at the curtain being raised.
The rooster or chicken appears to burst into flame and fireworks, a flashing, fiery, momentary burst of glowing, colored aerial lights. You are blinded for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 rounds.
You hear what sounds like an angry rooster crowing, and fireworks explode in front of Yazi. You are blinded for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 rounds.

will save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Khayal squints but his vision is not greatly impacted, he shakes his head as Yazi talks to the fire chicken.
Khayal peeks through the arrow slits perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20 before heading up the stairs.
GM_Pace
Khayal sees a city of metal-colored towers, spires, and roaring flames for a skyline. These particular arrowslits look out on a broad but abandoned alleyway. Most of the view is blocked by a wall of brass across from this section of the palace.
Going up the stairs before anyone else, Khayal sees a room dominated by a battered, fifteen-foot-diameter circular stone table, surrounded with several chairs, many of which lie on their sides. The edges of the table are heaped with half-eaten, well-burnt foods, goblets, and hookahs. The central ten feet of the table is clear, surrounded by a three-foot-high railing of brass latticework.
Behind Nasir, the azer come in, still carrying their amphora. "Argh! I thought I heard fire-roosters in here! Pyro-lisks, your kind call them. Watch out for their sparks - heh, heh!" Broadbeard guffhaws.
(Encounter Map semi-updated. You've reached a new level, which will take me a few minutes to copy over.)

"Could someone lead me along for a bit? I have a feeling my vision will return, but for the moment, I'm quite blind."
Yazi

"It was!" Yazi agrees before she hears Bartan. "Oh!" she lets out. Sheepishly she'll saunter over to take the Harrower by the hand. "This way Dealer!"
GM_Pace
The rest of the party (minus Rayhan, who hasn't come back from his teleport yet?) head up the stairs, following Khayal.
The fire-dwarves also go up the wide stairs, albeit slower due to their loads.
Everybody sees the wide table with the center cage.

(Encounter Map updated! Sorry for the cell phone users, you're going to have a lot of black to scroll past.)
There are four doors in this room, as you look around: SouthWest, NorthWest around a section of the wall, NorthEast, and SouthEast (right next to Yazi).
Broadbeard along with the other azer come up huffing and puffing along the stairs. "Oi! This is where they fight those fire-roosters! I lost a lot of coin in here!" he exclaimed, then his eyes widened and he put a hand over his mouth. "And there be the kitchen. Probably cleaning up after dinner right now!" the fire-dwarf whispered, pointing to the door beside Yazi.
You hear the clatter of pots and pans, as well as the crack of a whip. There is also a lot of hissing going on, like snakes in the room.

Hajar pulls Tempest from its sheath and nods to Yazi.
After you most dear friend. he says with a smile
GM_Pace
The heat coming from this room is almost unbearable. You see a simple kitchen, with lots of pots of pans, not on tables, but hanging from wall hooks or being held by kobold slaves. A cracking wall of fire has pots being held in it by two kobolds along the southern wall.
Four salamanders are in the kitchen, two holding spears, two holding metal-encrusted whips. The larger creatures turn at the door's opening, and eyes widen in disbelief. "Intruuuderssss." the one nearest Yazi hissed. It turned and shouted "Go gettt leeader!" to the salamander in the back near a Northern door. The kobolds made several frightened yips.

(Everyone went in perfect order there - I don't think that's ever happened before on this forum.)
(Mmmmm...not sure what Mr. Dicebot is doing.)
Bartan casts a spell, Hajar calls on divine power, Khayal moved to attack, Yazi manages (5-foot step) to attack, killing the salamander next to the door (on a Surprise? Hasted?). Nasir finished up the creature.

(Yah, the salamanders and everything else here are immune to fire damage.)
(Bartan, the (normal) salamander is already dead, I'm going to assume you meant the (red) salamander.)
(Khayal, due to DR, can you label your special abilities of your kukris when using each?)
(This website needs an online calculator...grumble, grumble.)
Bartan threw his cards, and the (red) salamander target took full damage from the playing token. Hajar and Tempest nearly killed the (red)) creature. Nasir's triple slash finished off the ultra-hot lizard.
The little kobolds do not fight, but scatter randomly around the room in a panic. (All attacks at -4 to-hit; otherwise, a critical failure means you hit a fleeing kobold instead of your target.)
Khayal's target fought back, using a brass battleaxe. "Forbidden weapons!" it hissed.
Gold's battleaxe atk1 on Khayal: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Gold's battleaxe atk1 on Khayal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Gold's tail slap atk on Khayal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 Dmg: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (4, 3) + 1 = 8
Khayal's steel lamellar took the blows, but the serpent-man half-turned, and a thick tail hit Khayal broadly!
The tail tried to wrap around the fighter!
Grab: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31 (Drat! Missed by one!)
But Khayal was able to put up a blade to defend himself!
The other salamander (Green) opened the door to the North, exclaiming "Fight on, brother! Out of the way, vermin!" as he shoved the closest kobold.
(Yazi)

"Oh, oh, 'scuse me little ones, just needa, oops! Sorry!," Yazi lets out as she maneuvers throughout the kobolds after the fleeing Salamander.

(Encounter Map looks updated.)
(Hmmmm...forgot the free attack of opportunity from the Salamander (Green).)
The Salamander at the door sees the human (kinda) running towards him, but does not have a weapon ready. A massive tail tries to slap Yazi to the side.
Tail atk on Yazi: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 (Natch.)

A whirling flurry of fabric, hair, flesh, and steel, Nasir flows toward the next salamander still standing. Her attacks affected by trying not to harm the panicking kobolds, she nevertheless delivers the beauty of her unrelenting battle-dance to the enemy.

GM_Pace
Nasir cut into the salamander, who hissed defiance in Ignan. Bartan's playing cards went all over the place. (No living targets available without a full movement inside the room; dead salamander hit.)
Hajar and Tempest struck true on a scaly hide; Yazi finished off the salamander from getting out the open door.
Khayal added his attacks to Nasir's; the salamander's severed head fell to the floor. (Technically 4/4 confirmed, but the creature was already at -10 hp due to Nasir's attack.)
(Out of melee. Encounter Map updated.)
The kobolds continued to run around the room, but eventually cowered near the wall of fire on the South wall.
Hajar, if your spells are only 8 hours, then you're running up against the time limit. If they last longer than 8 hours, like Rayhan's extended spells, you may have more time on the Resist Energy (Fire) types.
Khayal Bin Haleen
Khayal was all stoked about 4 crits and 173 damage (maybe his best turn ever). Maybe nobody else noticed that the salamander was falling to the ground as Khayal got his well placed cuts in.
Yazi
|
With all the Salamanders dispatched Yazi puts away her axe as she turns towards the frightened Kobolds. Crouching she holds her hands out towards them, trying to be as non-threatening as possible. "It's okay, you're safe now, little ones."
GM_Pace
Coldtooth came into the room, scowling at Broadbeard. "There's also pyrolisks, their eggs, pyrohydra heads, and hell hound meat. But those without long-life do get do tend to end up on the menu." he stated apologetically.
Looking at the kobolds, then the adventurers, Coldtooth said "We've set up the Salamander's room with the wine-casks. We can move the kobolds here downstairs to be with the others, masters. If Kabaness comes back to his room, they can at least alert us before the demon slays them all."
Bartan Harrowborn
Bartan makes an incredibly pained face. "No creatures deserve to be enslaved for their meat, let alone through many generations. They will be released. Now."
Khayal Bin Haleen
Khayal gags a little but regains his composure.
Ask them if they know what lies beyond, we will give them some rations and let’s keep pushing on. I’m not sure what we will do with them when we leave but I don’t intend to leave them like this.
GM_Pace
Coldtooth looked at Broadbeard, who growled back but started speaking in Ignan to the kobolds. After a few minutes, the fire-dwarf stated "Bah, they're just slaves. This is the ground floor, partly owned by the Flickering Candle, partly by the Guardians of the Forbidden Gate, the former masters of this palace. The kobolds here rarely got out of this kitchen, the room outside, and downstairs with the others." Broadbeard looked at the adventurers. "I could have told you as much - we would be teleported by one of the masters here to dinner, then put back in the gambling room. When we weren't fighting the fire-giants outside."
You faintly hear what could be...a raging bull? It's not a regular sound, coming from the still-open door to the North.
Yazi

Perception: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (5) + 25 = 30
Yazi's ears twitch. "I... think I hear a very angry moo-moo." she says as she looks through the northern door.
