Discussion for the game!

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

Currently in the process of transferring statistics to my profile. I'm excited. ^_^

Ooh, nice avatar pick! Does Timur actually smoke?

Other then the usual thrill at a new game, what excites you about this game in particular?

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

He does actually smoke, but never when on a job. He doesn't drink on the job either. He wants to stay sharp.

As for what I'm excited about, this is my first experience with a solo game, I haven't played an underground game since 3.0, and (from what I've read of your previous games) you seem to be a good match for me playstyle-wise.

Very cool. Which games did you glance through?

Any requests for events or themes or monsters you'd like to see?

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

I read through the Darklands one you linked earlier and I poked around a couple others (you're quite prolific ^_^).

Timur is Chaotic Good, so an opportunity to do the wrong thing for the right reasons will be appreciated. Especially seeing as how I'm guiding an Iomedaean. The conflict of whether or not the ends justify the means should be fun.

I've been roleplaying for 17 years, so I've been through most of the standard obsessions that roleplayers go through. A deep love for Drow is one that stuck around, and not just the Neutral Good ones that dual wield scimitars.

Difficult choices with real, visible consequences are great.

Ultimately, I'm dedicated to the story and the development of my character. If it makes sense within the fiction, I'm fine with whatever happens. Beat the s$%$ out of my characters. It only makes their triumphs more satisfying.

You want tough? Go read Uncoiled Ambition. That guy is blind with no class levels. Hard to get worse then that, no matter how old school you get.

For the rest, I can do that.

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

Oh gods, I'll have to check it out. XD

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

Alright, I've got my crunch up in my profile. I'll work on the fluff tomorrow.

HP 28/40 | 3 Dex damage Dogmole Animal Companion 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/12 | CMD 19 (23 vs trip) | F+7, R+6, W+2 | Blindsight 30', Scent, Perception +5

Also, it's not a perfect avatar, but I'll be using this alias for my animal companion.

Cool and yeah finding the right avatar can be annoying.

Looking forward to the fluff!

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

...and basic fluff is up. Timur is a completely fresh character, so I don't know him as well as I'd like. I look forward to learning more about him as we play. ^_^

Any reasons to not start?

I have made a few slight changes to the plot, I think you will like it.

Liberty's Edge

Nope, let's get underway. ^_^

I've got a decent skeleton for your game, btw. I just need to put enough meat on the bones for it to look like a passable thing.

See, easy mission. How long could it possibly take?

Has Timur been farther down then Nar-Voth?

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

He's been to Sekamina may two or three times. Not any deep knowledge of the place.

And you answered in game, I should have had more patience. And lots of choices here.

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

We didn't discuss formatting, but my standard is

"Bold quotes for speaking aloud."
"Bold italic quotes for yelling!"
Italics for inner thoughts.
"Italic quotes for whispers."

Those are all pretty standard. I will try to shake it up because I often overlook volume. Just like so many GMs ignore the weather (it is always a nice sunny day).

Not that weather will matter much in this game!

What do you think of your helpful cleric buddy?

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

So far, I think he's young and relatively inexperienced. He has that naive optimism of youth that I presume will be shortly stomped out of him. ^_^

There'll be snaps and arguments early on, but ultimately Ioldihe is someone that Timur can grow to like.

It was the obvious mis-match but it seemed to fit. He has hidden depths though, both good and bad.

Also, he is a bit of proxy for my actual character in RL so amuse yourself with that!

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

Every character we create has a bit of ourselves in it. ^_^

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

How many days out is Hagegraf from here?

If nothing exciting happens? Say about a week.

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

Cool.

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

My intention is for the mushrooms to be similar to amanita phalloides, but Golarionized.

As a mushroom picker myself, don't try them. Very nasty.

How do you want to handle combat? Do you want full maps?

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

Unless things get really complicated, I'm fine with a freeform approach to mapping. Online mapping can be a pain.

Now, to be fair, my canon book says dwarves aren't allowed in Hagegraf, at all. I am perfectly willing to bend and alter that but don't expect a warm welcome.

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

Timur is aware. He just didn't want to worry Ioldihe needlessly. I have a very stupid, very risky plan for that. ^_^

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

Which reminds me that before we get to Hagegraf we need to visit somewhere where we can buy a bunch of ink.

Not many shops in the Underdark. Might be better off just looking for some mineral to do the trick.

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

Will do.

Yeah, sorry if it was unclear the sounds are rather distant but coming toward you from the tunnel.

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

Gotcha. I read 'slapping' and my brain went straight to the water. It doesn't help that I'm already wary of it. Lol

See, aren't you happy you picked the one with the water?

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

It's funny, because my though process was "Hidey holes? Kobolds. Small passages? Kobolds. Water? Something more interesti interesting than kobolds." XD

I do try to vary things up a bit. I mean kobolds are classic and can be fun, but random encoutners for the sake of random ecounters aren't fun. Even this simple thing offered some various angles.

Well, until I get bored and drop 1d8+2 Owlbears on you.

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

Owlbears are one of my deepest loves.

I'll have to put some in then.

What do you think so far? I think you'll like the mini-arc coming up. I'm not planning on rushing you to duergar city....

Also, progress on Orsrion game?

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

I'm rather enjoying it. You have a good flair for description that a lot of GMs lack. ^_^

And yes, I'm making progress. I've got the broad strokes of the first arc complete. I am, as we speak, statting up the important NPCs (at least the three that you might be bringing with you to the first delve).

On that topic, I've never run a game on these boards. Do I have to do anything special to link up the gameplay and discussion threads?

When you go to post a thread, you'll get a prompt to 'link it' to a campaign. Since it is your first none will be listed but there will be a link to 'create new campaign'.

Whenever I make a new one it tries to link it to any game I have ever made. The list is long!

I will try to put in more description then!

Discussion thread up. I just need to review your character and we'll be ready to begin. ^_^

You have to put the link in the right formatting. Luckily, I can backtrack it through your username page!

So what did you think of the little water section? I didn't want to push it too much but also provide some stakes....

HP 38/44 | Tricks 3/5 Dwarf Ranger 5, Init +6, AC/FF/T 20/18/13 | CMD 20 | F+7, R+7, W+5 | Perception +13

Considering I almost drowned? It was awesome. ^_^

I am pondering how 'long' we want to stay in Nar-voth. Let's say after this arc you went to the city. Would that 'feel' to fast for you, to already be working on going down to the next level?
