GM Tacticslion |

Ceru, Layla is correct.
If there is any question, the only creatures that transform are the four dead prisoners. If you saw the Roll20 map, previously, you would have been able to see how many prisoners there were. Only the four who were killed were transformed. The rest are simply reinvigorated, like the rest of you.
EDIT: Oh, and Vitreous - congratulations on (barely) making your will save v. an imprisonment effect! It happened at the same time as the earthquake. That... would have been interesting, really. But you exactly equaled the DC... with the boost from your greater heroism. Woo!

Stone the Dwarf |

Ok, lots has happened, so i am going to do a quick recap of what happened and run it by you.
Also, I had wondered what would happen when that counter hit zero XD
Recap
#1) I charge a coacodaemon but miss and hit a pillar BOINK! XD it was the squirrels fault!
#2) I get blinded/deafened/stunned for a round, aka screwed...
#3) I get my moment of shining glory as i swan-dive into the depths below...
#4) My initiative is now 17 aka essentially the same as 2/3rds of everyone. How did you manage that??
#5) We all land in? Beside? The giant pool of blood? for some reason i recall hearing that this was something like 140ft away from the messa. I think it was when Jakk was chucked into it? Confirm/deny this? Now how far away are we from the meditating goblins below?
#6) EARTHQUAKE!!!
#7) Everyone gets a super-heal.
#8) Some dead creatures revive, probably reincarnate, as different creatures. The Coacodeamons transform into necromatic lightning elementals :p
Ok. I think thats everything :)
I think once i get an answer to #5, i know what i am going to be doing :)

Schnorzel |

I'm actualy glad I waited to post then.
As it stands Scnorzel's latent paranoia and desire to summon the Gohl'ee-ath were rooted in getting it to help the Midori.
So they could show a strong enough front to discourage more planar invaders from coming the same way the Gob smash team did. As they did just massacre the best warriors in the tribe and live in that *shudder* horrible place.
Fact is Schnorzel was seeing her guardian spirit helping outsiders and treating them like they were Midori, granting their requests and in general not being the sort of thing a mentally addled goblin for a mostly NE culture would consider guardian spirit like.
Trading one interplanar invader controlling the fate of the midori tribes (Jakk) for a larger number is not something Schnorzel considered a desirable outcome.
Least now shes too far away to get immediately smote for any impudence.
@stone- looks close enough.
Only addition is the bllod bowl is leaking into the pit the Midori were meditating in.

GM Tacticslion |

Multi-posting to handle questions.
Stone, the answer to #5 is "beside" - you all, via powerful magic, were sent away, then dropped really hard, but left undamaged, causing great destruction to the area around the lot of you: aka, the ground and the blood bowl.
#2 and #3 happened simultaneously.
Otherwise, as Schnorzel said, close enough.
You are adjacent to the bowl, which is a very big structure.
You are about 40-80 ft. away from the edge of the chasm (depending) - you may choose where, around there, you are. Jakk was chucked a really long ways - the mesa is 100 ft. above ground-level, and, as the edge of the bowl is at minimum 40 ft. away from the chasm, I might have noted something about "at least 140 ft. away" (although it would have been farther, taking into account the width of the chasm around the base of the mesa - closer to 180 ft.).

I hope that this, in conjunction with the Roll20 map, helps to clarify where things are, including you.
Calling them "necromantic lightning elementals" is close enough for what your character knows [ooc](though Knowledge (planes) or (religion) might help learn more).
Extra question, did i lose my chance to get a wish from the Burninator? :(
Heck, if you know! Only one way to find out!
In terms of initiative: that's the way the dice rolled. There are a lot of people with similar modifiers and I rolled a lot of similar numbers together. When I had exact matches, I chose the higher modifier to go before the higher dice rolls; when I had exact matches, I place folk alphabetically.

GM Tacticslion |

They cacodemon corpse malevolence monsters--are they now background malevolence, or still hostile creatures that want to kill and eat us?
At present, they are not directly threatening you. They seem too far away. Whether or not things will stay that way remain to be seen.
What they do seem to be doing... requires a good Perception to figure out. Better, even, than Layla's (though Aid Another might get her there).

GM Tacticslion |

KN:Engineering(Is the mesa going to collapse?: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
After the bite attempt, Vitreous flies down to the party in the blood.
Also, your attack is too low and too few: you're currently under both haste and greater heroism, netting you a +5 increase to your attack value, as well as an extra attack this round.

Layla the Twin-Blade |

I just checked with our GM for some more clarity after reading a couple people's gameplay posts. Here are the results:
Shaedo, the female Kitsune you freed is still a Kitsune. She didn't die. She is now conscious. The male Kitsune whose throat got ripped out by a Cacodaemon is the one who reincarnated into a halfling. It was just the four prisoners directly killed by Cacodaemons who died and have now been reincarnated.
Ceru and Sunny, no one is still chained up. The forty-or-so victims who were chained up on the Mesa are down here next to the blood bowl now with us, conscious, but mostly still bearing nasty runes on their foreheads. Ceru may want to keep fixing them to stop the ritual.
Hundreds of green and blue goblins sit in a daze, chanting, and being threatened by necro-lightning, at the base of the 80ft. chasm beside us, into which some blood is now pouring from the cracked bowl beside us.
Those of us who got blown away and slammed down on the ground beside the cracked blood bowl (which is pouring blood over us, but not hurting us)
include all of Gob Smash One except Vitreous
plus Schnorzel, Psi-Dish, and Nugglet
plus 40-some no-longer-chained but still-runed former-prisoners
plus 4 reincarnated no-longer-chained-or-runed former-prisoners.
I hope that helps! :)

"Sunny" |

Ah! Okeys! So Sunny can go see about maybe rescuin' them other Gobby folk?

Layla the Twin-Blade |

Maybe, Sunny! The question is how.
I already made my wish to have this mana well of necro-lightning not destroy everyone, so maybe the Burninator is working on something with that?
I have a theory that the regenerative blood pouring down to the gobs could be very helpful, so maybe Sunny and Layla want to use our weapons to try to make the crack in the huge blood bowl next to us bigger?
Just a thought.
I'm waiting to see if I learn more about the transformed Cacodaemons or Jakk before posting my action.
Anyone else want to make an aid another perception check for me? :)

Ceru |

Sorry, I thought the five people we were working on were freed, but the other forty or so were not. There is really too much going on for me at any one time to understand what's happening. I don't know how much longer I can try keeping up. I think I'm just too stupid for a game like this.
Still, what Ceru was doing was correcting the runes and if they are still 'runed" she would want to help them--IF it would continue to help and they aren't forced to flee for their lives. So just consider what she said in the IC thread as "there are still people with runes on them" rather than "there are still people chained up."

Layla the Twin-Blade |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Naw, Ceru, don't be hard on yourself.
Tac just has a huge, awesome imagination that's hard to get down into nice, clear, short little story updates.
I seriously have to ask for clarity a lot, too.
But, it actually fits with our characters who would be having a hard time grasping what the heck is going on in the midst of all this mana-well chaos.
Adapting your comment to "still runed" instead of "still chained" works perfectly well, and from what I gather, continuing to fix their runes would be helpful to them and to all of us for weakening the ritual.

"Sunny" |

So... savin' tha' other folks like Schnorzel be a possibility?
Much cheers ta' all! (^_^)

Layla the Twin-Blade |

Sunny, I'm game, the only question is, HOW do we want to try to save them?
Any suggestions?
Stopping the ritual might be the only thing that could do it, and that's what we're all working on in different ways...

"Sunny" |

No time to post much am off to work.
Yah.. nothing is immediately coming to mind.. Though.. did every one get a wish...? (>_>)

GM Tacticslion |

Ceru: What Layla said. I'm really working on trying to be better. I'm just... not. Sorry! :/
EDIT: Also, you guys have been half on the rails since this thing started. Soon, hopefully (for a variable metric of "soon") you'll be able to set your own pace... after you get through with this Jakk fellow's ritual. There's a whole world to explore out there, and all sorts of new doors to open... but you've got to determine whether or not you want to go there and open those doors on your own.
Sunny: no, they have not. EDIT: More on that soon-ish.
The only people that have actually made a wish by saying something to the big giant thing are: Psi-dish, Schnorzel, Ooze, Layla, and Shaedo.
That leaves: Sunny, Beylinda, Eris[/i](?), Stone (who tried to assassinate it), [s]Lulu(?), Vitreous, Ceru, Dijiron, the Prisoners(?), Nuglet(?), Rainbow(?), and the Mounts(?).
But surely none of those are considered allies by/of/for the summoner or anything. After all, not only were many of them not present, she doesn't care about anything other than her people right? And she's already kind of ticked off that those other than her are having boons granted to them... hm...

GM Tacticslion |

Warriors those of you with skill at it should sunder the bowl further. Removing it will repair the damage the lightning has done to Midori along with weakening the lightning itself. The Ritual is not finished, do any of you know a means to call the blue spirits? They still stand above on the pagoda and are at risk of being crushed if the cavern collapses.
Trying to figure out what you mean, here. Blue spirits on the pagoda? What are you looking at on the map? Presume everything is "flat" on the map, except the mesa.
(Guessing): If you mean the donkeys, they are ~160 ft. to the north, near the pagoda, but on the cave floor, where you all left them.
Let me know if you mean something else.
Also: 'heh' to the rest of the post.
EDIT:
That leaves: Sunny, Beylinda,Eris(?), Stone (who tried to assassinate it),Lulu(?), Vitreous, Ceru, Dijiron, the Prisoners(?),Nuglet(?),Rainbow(?), andthe Mounts(?).
Ah, me and forum coding. I'm really good at this, you guys.
But surely none of those are considered allies by/of/for the summoner or anything. After all, not only were many of them not present, she doesn't care about anything other than her people right? And she's already kind of ticked off that those other than her are having boons granted to them... hm...
It's almost like a built-in opportunity for character growth or something! (It's not, necessarily, but it's almost like it is!)

Schnorzel |

Yes the mounts. Schnorzel refers to them as spirits due to their great intellect (for donkeys) I was not sure if they had moved or not.
That being the ill just say she was unaware they had moved or some thing. Too lazy to code a new response on a phone at work.

Ceru |

The only people that have actually made a wish by saying something to the big giant thing are: Psi-dish, Schnorzel, Ooze, Layla, and Shaedo.
That leaves: Sunny, Beylinda, Eris[/i](?), Stone (who tried to assassinate it), [s]Lulu(?), Vitreous, Ceru, Dijiron, the Prisoners(?), Nuglet(?), Rainbow(?), and the Mounts(?).
Ceru has rune-mania cycling through her head and hasn't paid a damn bit of attention to the big giant thing, let alone is aware that she has been offered any sort of wish. She knows it's there, but having determined it wasn't immediately hostile, just went back to doing what she was doing.
Which is also to say that I entirely, totally missed there were wishes on the table too (again, having trouble keeping up). But it would be appropriate for Ceru under the circumstances not to be paying attention--she's "in the zone" with her rune painting.
So for the time being she is not going to respond to it unless someone hits her with a clue by four and tells her what the hell is going on.

GM Tacticslion |

That works! Point in fact, the only reason I mentioned it is because a few people have asked about or talked about their or others' wishes being granted, hence I figured in answering their questions, I'd clarify for everyone.
Besides: no one's wish has been answered quite like they expected, even if it has fairly solidly done exactly what they requested or wanted. I will let everyone know out of character: it is, in fact, helping you, more than you might expect.
I wish to say, though: Ceru, as a character, and you, as a player, have done nothing wrong other than make a minor detail off in an otherwise solid post.
I think one thing that makes it hard to visualize is that, for this game, I seem to be relying on maps more than normal... maps which you're not able to access. That's definitely something I need to work on: I've become partially reliant on them to do the describing for me, which isn't a good thing.
Unfortunately, there is no real way to do that at present, and no way to make a credible map outside of Roll20 with the lack of tools that I have.
For the rest, well, that's what you have your friends for. :)
A recap of what's happened so far:
- you met Jakk, and some attacked him (managing to kill him several times) while others freed prisoners or corrected runes on their foreheads
- during this, Schnorzel summoned a Gol-ee'ath and Jakk summoned Cacodaemons
- some of the cacodaemons were killed, and Jakk was separated into three parts, which were all, at one point or another, thrown into the well of blood far below by the Gol-ee'ath (who dealt more damage to him while doing so)
- the remaining cacodaemons at Jakk's death, murdered prisoners on the far side of the mesa from Ceru, and began devouring their deaths/souls
- in response to both Shaedo's and Layla's wishes, a massive (colorful) gust of wind shoved everyone (including the prisoners) except Vitreous and the remaining three cacodaemons off the mesa, and dropped them 100 ft. down to a point adjacent to the blood bowl: this did not harm the prisoners or those swept off it, but did significantly damage the blood bowl (all part of the magic used to grant wishes)
- thus all the prisoners were ripped free of their chains, and deposited on the ground with you guys
- due to the blood flowing over you from the pool, all those killed by the cacodaemons were brought back to life in new bodies (like reincarnation), and the cacodaemons were brought back to life in new bodies (as *ahem* 'weird' [necromantic] lightning elemental creatures) which were seemingly semi-absorbed into the necromancy-lightning storm happening in the chasm near the mesa (which is 40-80 ft. away from you, at your option)
Hope that helps!

Ceru |

Well, if it's that much of an issue, I can also just suck it up and make a roll20 account. Bear in mind however, I'd still not be able to look at things at work (when I sometimes briefly check in during lunch).
Although it's not the visualization of placement that I struggle with and more that a LOT happens, all at once, and there are a LOT of people present, NPCs and PCs alike. Moreover, it's hard to formulate an appropriate reaction to so much, or figure out an interaction that would feel like an appropriate response. I'm very aware I'm doing a lot of "over here, doing my own thing," and it's not out of trying to ignore everyone, but more just trying to find something I can focus on where I can be uniquely helpful.
The summary (as summaries prior) is helpful. Your patience is appreciated.
ETA: I also should note both my work load and outside commitments have increased dramatically over the last week or so and will remain so for some time. While this doesn't keep me from being able to stick to the "post once a day" requirements most PBPs have as I can check in once a day quickly, on the bus with my phone, or waiting for laundry to finish, etc. sometimes there's a lot that happens at once here where there's a lot of catch up to do even if I've only been "gone" for less than 24 hours. Just trying to do the best I can.

Schnorzel |

Wait... if a cacodaemon created something like that when hucked into the blightning bug zapper... I wonder what the priest that made them would end up as.
Hrmmm... I may just get my kaijuu battle yet.
Plus it would draw most of the ritual into one focal point with a face type thing perfect for punching. Especially punching from a chaos magic enhanced transdimensional Mag-zilla proto god.
EDIT: wait no the blood did that, in combination with the lightning. Hrmm..

Shaedo Silverpaws |

Hey everyone, sorry for the lack of posts. It has been another busy week for me, and now I am traveling! I'll update as much as I can, but feel free to bot me should something urgent come up!
Thanks for the clarification! Ermmm... Perhaps Shaedo made her comment to the reincarnated kitsune once the group gathers together a bit more.
I'll add more to Shaedo's reaction if I get the opportunity. Otherwise, once again, feel free to bot me if you need to until next week! Shaedo would likely try to comfort the prisoners as well as get to know them, introduce herself as she would help Shepard them out of the bowl are through the escape route.
Psi-dish |

We really need a way to get Psi-dish in communication with everybody. Dang language barriers!
To be clear, have I used my wish? I haven't looked back, but I'm pretty sure I'm on the "has used wish" list. though I believe the thing I was going to wish for was stated to have already happened (removing Jakk from the mesa). Is that right?

GM Tacticslion |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Not quite, though the confusion is understandable. You made the request to remove Jakk twice. The first time, it was answered by the giant picking up the two halves of the corpse and flinging them, and creating an anti-Jakk ward was on the mesa; you managed to successfully wrestle to hold onto Jakk's head so it didn't fly off due to the ward. The second time, you threw Jakk's head at the giant (which landed in its mouth), and then asked to remove the body again... which had already happened due to the first time you uttered that particular desire.
Hence, you've made a wish that was granted.
My guess is that you didn't intend to wish for it gone the first time, and thus weren't thinking of it as a granted wish. However, it was a direct action in response to an expressed desire - and one that helped you, whether you realized it or not.
(Also, because I don't like my players thinking things are wasted, out-of-character knowledge: you speeded up one thing, but weakened it as a direct result. This is, over all, something you want.)

To re-post from above, and hopefully limit(?) confusion...
Wishes have been granted to: Psi-dish, Schnorzel, Ooze, Layla, and Shaedo.
Not yet granted to: Sunny, Beylinda, Eris, Stone (who tried to assassinate it), Lulu(?), Vitreous, Ceru, Dijiron, the Prisoners(?), Nuglet(?), Rainbow(?), and the 'spirit'-donkeys(?).
But surely none of those (save the spirit donkeys) are considered allies by/of/for the summoner or anything. After all, not only were many of them not present, she doesn't care about anything other than her people right? And she's already kind of ticked off that those other than her are having boons granted to them... hm...
As noted, currently Ceru doesn't realize wishes are being granted at all, and instead is has a monomaniacal obsession about fixing runes on folks' heads.

"Sunny" |

Am busy, but Suny would be of a mind to simply "Wish every thing were all right!" :P
Or, failing that, "Dang! But I wish all'a this ikly blood were nice, clean water, like." :P
Much cheers to all. (^_^)

Thanks! I'm now in another hospital with an even better neonatal facility.... I might be having a really tiny little halfling baby much sooner than expected! Prayers and positive thoughts appreciated. :)

Dijiron |

Now I'm wondering if halfling babies are really tiny and grow at a similar rate humans do towards their ultimate height or if they are closer to the size of a human baby and grow slower than humans do.
Anyway good luck Layla!

Ceru |

If mythical halflings are akin to the real world... I guess their babies would be similar to the size of a homo floresiensis baby. Which I'm not sure what that is, but was probably pretty small.

Eh such as it is.
