edit it was a move and attack not a charge so Karthan does not actually get hit by the critical hit. he had to hit that orc in self defense.
Nesteruk of Vigil |
Orc's hit well above their CR, and ferocity gives them more than twice many 1st level PC's effective fighting HP (standard Orc has 6HP but can keep swinging until -12... Assuming a 3 round combat thats 15HP). I don't see the difference regarding Kathhan's foe- whether its a move and attack or a charge, that hit is high enough to take him down.
Barely standing after almost being disembowelled by one of his three attackers, Nesteruk retaliates, swinging his axe despite the blood pouring from his mouth. The strain of having to defend against three attackers combined with his grievous wound takes the toll on the alchemist; his greataxe does a great deal of damage to the ground in front of him, but none to his opponents.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
I am sorry brother... It seems you were the one destined for great things after all.

Yes but it was moveing before so it was staggered and cannot complete the attack crud forgot Karthan. He was below zero hp before making the attack so he is staggered and already took a move action so no standard action.

Jondar Millner |
Jondar uses a channel energy with the selective channeling feat. He excludes two of the wounded orcs, if there is any wounded.
Jondar grits his teeth and groans under the impact of the javelin. He reaches up and pulls it free as he moves into position C12 and says in a loud voice, "Pharasma granted me your divine energy to heal my allies. So we many vanquish our enemies."

Chardak Bonereaper |
Round 2:
Chardak feels the healing power of Pharasma from Jondar. It's an alien feeling, cooler than the fire of Gorum. He spits the taste of ash from his mouth, turns to grin briefly at Jondar, and charges forward to the combat with his sword held high. He drives the sword down at the orc.
If Karthan's foe is still up charge to D12 and attack him. If not charge to D10 and attack D9.

Jondars burst of positive energy seems to reinvigorate the wounded party. Anna ray on the orc misses above the orc's head and hits the cieling. Chardak charges and deals another wound to the already wounded orc in E11 but he still has not collapsed dead yet.
Karthan and symas to go.

The orcs now advance further again with 5 foot steps The orc Symas shot follows his attack forward and makes an attack on him.

Nesteruk is healed by Jondar's magic enough to make him barely concious but he remains prone on the ground.
Nesturuk can act but he is disabled. standing up right now means you provoke AOO with the prone condition still so -4Ac and 3 attacks while still being flanked.
Nesturuk is the only to act then new round.

Chardak moves forward and hits the orc hard but it is still standing and fighting but is bleeding out. Jondar touches Nesteruk stabilizing him. Anna tries to cast a spell but cannot focus on it. Nesturuk remains fallen on teh cave floor. Karthan steps back and finshes off the badly wounded orc slicing open its abdomen. Symas to act.
GM_wu |
Symas hits the orc with an arrow narrowly missing its heart but still dealing damage and it seems to be bleeding slowly out yet still somehow standing after being hit with two arrows. The orc grunts in pain.the shooting into melee penalty hurts.
This orc then still manages to step forward and attack symas
