"Captain, I don't know why I didn't see it before. Xtabays. Carnivorous plants!" He rushes over to Faengrim, striking him across the face to try and rouse him.

Faengrim |

Faengrim wakes confused. "What? What happened?" Once it is explained to him, Faengrim asks, "Is it safe for me in here now? Will I be lulled back to sleep?"
He helps wake Satinder up too. Taking her to the water and dipping her head in.

Satinder comes awake, coughing up water. Dantes thinks that you should be safe enough, now that the danger is known.

Faengrim |

"Keep an eye out for me. I'm going to have a proper look around." Faengrim again tries to search the room, only too aware of the plants that nearly did him in. "Should we burn them or something?"

A search of the bed reveals the source of the magical emanations, a piece of wood about a half-inch thick at the base and tapering to a slender point at the end, an overall length of about eight inches. The whole is decorated with a spider motif. Dantes quickly identifies this as a wand of web.
Further searching reveals more magical auras from beneath the bed wherein a compartment, you find three carefully wrapped vials of deep blue liquid. A quick taste of the salty stuff and Dantes identifies these as potions of water breathing.

"The wand could be handy, especially in these tight quarters. If you see huge webs magically appear during a combat, chances are it will be my doing."
He gives one potion to Satinder and one to Chumtooth, holding the third back for himself. "Drinking this will allow you to breath underwater for several hours. And as long as the effect lasts, you can go between breathing water and breathing air as often as you need to."

Chumtooth |

Satisfied that his crew is unharmed, Chumtooth says, "Let us keep moving. Use the spider-stick well," he adds, nodding to Dantes.
He tucks the potion into his pouch, seeing no immediate need to drink it.

Satinder Morne |

Satinder remains groggy for some time after being woken. She seems to stare into the distance, sometimes, before snapping back to it.

There seems to be no exit from this cavern aside from the watery route and Faengrim notes that continuing further into the complex probably means remaining underwater for some time.

Chumtooth |

"There is nothing else here," Chumtooth says. "Let us move on." He moves towards the water route, pulling the potion back out from his pouch. He drinks it right before re-entering the waterway.

The group swallows their first potion and reenters the water, this time taking the south passage. Faengrim swims ahead but soon comes to a halt as he sees in the cavern ahead of him, six fish-men, with tridents at the ready. It seems that they heard your approach and are waiting for you!

Botting Satinder.
Satinder and Dantes swim forward while Chumtooth harpoons the nearest sahuagin, inflicting serious damage on the creature, but not putting it out of the fight. Satinder readies an action to hit any sahuagin that come near.
The sahuagin swim forward as well, closing the gap. Three of the monsters attack Chumtooth, while one slips around the side and attacks Satinder. Satinder lashes out but misses with her attack of opportunity. Chumtooth is attacked by three of the creatures and is hit twice! (Chumtooth takes 13 points of damage.) The one that Satinder attacked manages to bite her. (Satinder takes 4 points of damage.)

Strange, you should be able to see something. Try zooming out. In any case, you are adjacent to Satinder, 5 feet from the sahuagin that attacked her. There are no other foes with reach unless you subject yourself to an AoO from that sahuagin to come around it.

Faengrim stabs at the sahuagin nearest to him and takes it out of the fight, leaving Satinder to swim forward and take out the wounded one. Chumtooth snaps at one of the fresh foes but misses.
The remaining sahuagin form a defensive line across the entrance to the cavern, biting and stabbing with tridents. Chumtooth is hit once by a trident, leaving a bad wound. (Chumtooth is hit for 10 points of damage!) Satinder is also hit by a trident. (Satinder takes 6 points of damage!)

Chumtooth notices a decided shift in the combat as three of his crew enter the fray and dispatch the remaining sahuagin.
"You three, huh?" he says to the new arrivals. "Everyone wants to be an off-isah it would seem. Good. If you live through this, you will get your wish."

Faengrim |

Faengrim takes the time to mutilate and desecrate the bodies of the slain sahaugin. He really seems to be enjoying himself.

Janus waits patiently as the half-elf uses up his supplies. Better to allow him to do so, better they come to his embrace when he had time to savor the experience. Blood in the water would draw more issues and he wished to be ready for them.

Kaede lets the Half-elf use his magic, her healing can wait for more urgent times.
She looks around curiously, wrinkling her nose at the Sahaugin. "What do you call ten dead Sahaugin? A good start!"

Dantes notes the healing effect of the wand, and where the dashing half-elf stows it when he's done.
He quietly stands near Chumtooth, considering each of the bold crew members. When Chumtooth opens the window for them being officers, his eyes narrow. "We face difficult challenges on our away missions. Survive and contribute, and the rewards can be vast."
