Taranis lights his torch while issuing orders, "Toth! Flank!"
Tothfangen "Toth"
The tiger rushes in and bites:
Bite: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 2 = 25 THREAT
Bite Confirm: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 3 + 2 = 19 for DMG: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (6, 3) + 2 = 11

2. Trolless (25 dmg)
Augrym Ko’Charr
”We felled you signigicant other just a few moments ago, you beast. It is unlikely that you will survive much longer than he or she did.”
Augrym, blood pumping for his attack, swings at this new target.
attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 241d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Augrym adds to the troll's wounds. She rips apart the half-orc with a fury, and the big man stumbles with a shredded belly. Resorting to her teeth, she bites down on Toth, and the fight starts to look more dire.

Taranis simply steps in and readies an attack if the troll comes closer. Toth continues his attack:

Right Claw: 1d20 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (7) - 2 + 2 = 7

Zed's spell sizzles against the cave wall, missing the troll entirely. Unrak and Toth score minor wounds, but these soon begin to close again. Marc attends to fallen Augrym.
The troll turns its slovenly, hideous breath on Unrak, assaulting him with tooth and claw. Fortunately, his armor takes the brunt of it.

Zed I think you missed my post. If the troll goes down, CdG with your Acid Splash.

The combined might of the Huntsmen brings down the troll! Neither fire nor acid can be brought to bear, so fresh wounds begin to close...

23rd Gozran
The adventurers plunge further south, following the deep and swift Shrike River, well swollen by the icy snowmelts of the Tors to the east. Around mid-afternoon, you encounter a wreck of a bridge across the Shrike. A thick, sagging rope hangs across the river, all that remains of the bridge that once spanned it. A signpost at end of the ruined bridge reads:
Nettles’ Crossing
5 Coppers
Ring Bell for Service
A rusty bell hangs by the sign. On the far bank of the river, the crumbled remains of a burnt-down wooden building are slowly being overgrown by encroaching vegetation.
GMTrex
The second troll was sort of a reason, and occurred three days ago in game time, so I assumed you have healed without having to use the stick.
Taranis Redleaf
As Augrym rings the bell, Taranis and Toth look about.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Distracted, he casts Enhanced Diplomacy, just in case.
GMTrex
Augrym rings the bell, and its tinkling carries far across the rushing waters. No movement can be seen from the other side, so he goes to check out the rope.
Climbing across via the rope looks doable, if moderately difficult. You would have to abandon the horses, however, and--
Toth suddenly growls at something downstream. Rising out of the detritus of the shattered bridge is an obviously long-dead man, flesh putrescent, carrying a dripping algae-flecked ranseur. The undead starts towards you, walking over the very surface of the river itself!
Augrym Ko’Charr
”It appears to be an undead summoning bell. Nobody else ring this bell. In the meantime, perhaps it is an intelligent undead and can be reasoned with. Could someone please speak to it first as I do not wish to fight if it one of those undead that sap your life force away.
Augrym pauses and looks towards the undead walking across the water.
”Ho there, possible undead friend. One of my better spoken friends will speak with you to to hear your tale of woe. If that be your choice, of course. There is always fighting as well, which will be happy to oblige you with.”
GMTrex
The undead stops, pausing in the middle of the river. He calls out in an eerie, waterlogged voice. "You are not my murderers... Throw the Stag Lord's body in the river so that I may look upon his face in death."
He lifts up his ranseur. "Or join me instead."
Augrym Ko’Charr
”We accept your terms new undead friend. Do you know where we can find this Stag Lord as we have it alrighty in our plans to kill this fiend? This looks like as good a place as any to throw the body. Also, I am sorry that you were murdered. We will definitely avenge your death and hopefully give you the rest you derserve.”
Taranis Redleaf
Taranis stares, wild eyed at this man's fate. His soul denied of Pharasma, his body, Gozreh.
"The Stag Lord. Tell us of him, everything you ken. Every bit of information is as good as a run of the whetstone upon our blade."
Marc Jorstad
|
"The Stag Lord keeps coming up around here. It seems like we need to meet this person sooner or later." Marc looks at the group. "let us prepare."
look at the tortured soul in front of him,"Yes, tell us what brought to this state and what you know of this Stag Lord."
GMTrex
The lilting, gurgling voice echoes again across the waters. "Five coppers to cross, Stag Lord didn't want to pay. Give him half my take each month, he said, and let his men cross free. I ran him off with my dogs," Davik's corpse intones, lifting his ranseur. "He came back. Set fire to my cabin while I slept. Destroyed my bridge when I tried to cross. Drowned me in my own hard work."
"I will look upon his death and know that he shares my pain."
GMTrex
Having accepted his quest, the dead man melts back into the river.
Where to? Cross and leave the horses behind? There are unexplored lands to the west (on the current side of the river) as well as across the Shrike to the east.
Zed the Unbroken
Ooc - did we just agree to make the stag lord an undead somehow? Zeds not down with that...
Augrym Ko’Charr
No, we just decided where to bury the Stag Lord in order for this other undead guy to finally rest. It’s not the water that created thus undead but the circumstances of his death. Sometimes, the way someone dies is so horrible, that they find no rest in the afterlife and create an undead monster. It’s all in the first season of Supernatural.
Taranis Redleaf
Sounds like we agreed to finish what we were going to do anyway, we're just going to throw him into the river and let this body know so his soul can be at rest.
"When someone dies their body returns to the palette for Gorzeh's will. Dirt or water, it matters not. Come, I agree with Augrym."
That's 2 for West.
GMTrex
The team turns west. Even from a far distance, a massive, ancient sycamore tree can be seen atop one of the Kamelands' highest hills, its branches reaching nearly a hundred feet into the sky. You head for the landmark.
Less than a mile on, you encounter a dead, disgusting blue creature, nude as a newborn and bearing multiple stab wounds.
Knowledge (nature) to identify.
Taranis Redleaf
Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
GMTrex
Taranis recognizes this creature as a mite, a cruel and nuisome fey.
GMTrex
Shrugging and continuing on towards the tree, it is only a few hundred yards before you come upon three kobolds, dead as doornails, stark naked in the sun.
All three have smashed-in brains.
Taranis Redleaf
Now that there's a mystery, Taranis spends a bit of time looking at the mite and the kobolds; clan markings, valuables, and most definitely tracks.
Survival: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Unless this provides a clue, Taranis will head over to the tree itself with Toth on the look out.
