Reese immediately leaps into action, seeing the potential threat of this creature. She leaps to the opposite side that Hikari takes, setting up an opportunity for them to flank this filthy bug!
I'm on my phone so I can't edit the map, sorry.
Reese is intentionally provoking an attack of opportunity if the bug has combat reflexes, and will use opportune parry and reposte if attacked.

GM - Did 15 confirm the critical hit on Reese's Riposte attack? If so, she gets the Panache point she spent making the Parry attempt back :)
Reese grins broadly at the sight of her companions proving to be quick-thinking and highly skilled at combat tactics, thinking to herself, "if we handle everything we encounter like this, we'll be back in the Grand Lodge for our reward in no time!" At the sound of Juniper's yell, she glances over, grin broadening if possible, even as she continues to attack!
"Oh, I *really* like you, kid!"

No confirm. Your were looking to hit AC 17
In a flurry of blows, the party quickly takes down the giant water bug!
Out of Combat
Returning to your ivestigation, you find the arm, covered in white, bulbous spheroids, is gripping a metal handle under the water.

![]() |

Hikari wipes the bug guts from knuckles and then bends down to examine the arm more closely.
Heal Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
"This arm is not from one of the children nor does it date from the originally flooding. Whomever lost it, did so recently."

GM Tektite |

The veins on Hikari's neck bulge as she heaves on the handle. With a sucking sound, the iron plug comes loose! Suddenly, all the water in the pool begins swirling and rushing down the hole, draggin everyone with it!
Everyone, but Farfax needs to make an Acrobatics check DC 15 or get sucked into the hole and take 1d6 ⇒ 6 falling damage.

Only Juniper gets sucked down the swirling hole, though the groundsman darts into the pool, and gets sucked down as well!
At the bottom, Juniper sees a narrow five foot, dark tunnel of stairs leading down and to the east. A second hall appears to interesect it from the south, about fifty feet down.

Hikari pulls a length of rope from her pack and secures it before attempting to climb down.
climb: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
At the bottom, once the rest of party arrives, she applies an Oil of Mage Armor.

GM Tektite |

Eceryone is easily able to climb down the shaft. Heading down the hall, you find that going staright leads to a cave-in. Heading down the southern tunnel, you enter a large chamber.
Carved pillars in the corners of this chamber hold aloft a double-vaulted ceiling of cracked frescos. On either side of the chamber, a single step leads up into a deeply recessed area that forms an arched room of its own.
On the floor of the east recess, the perfectly preserved body of a young boy lies in a puddle and stares silently upward.

![]() |

Hikari carefully moves forward towards the body of the young boy while attempting to determine his condition. Wary that this boy may be afflicted with a necromantic curse she keeps her guard up.

Reese will move to the start of each hallway in turn, relying on her darkvision to let her look 60' down each one as a way of scouting a bit, even though she's not the best at noticing things that aren't right up in her face. Besides that, she'll remain quiet for now and keep near whoever is closer to the front, sword out and ready to intercept any danger.
sorry for slow responses from me - rough week+

GM Tektite |

Hikari examines the boy, and though unblemished, is most definitely dead. At the same moment, the party notices a dead looking humanoid lunging toward the party from the south!

Reese groans, perhaps at the same time the dead guy does, only hers is in shuddering disgust. Her blade already bared, she leaps forward, jumping through the air to land next to it while slashing her blade vertically downward - in position to give Farfax a fair angle, as well as leaving Juniper room to come charging in!
