Takahiro ensures the party steps back at least 10' behind him, then he cracks the doors, sword drawn and by his side...

Takahiro cracks the door to see, a narrow wooden plank spans a twenty-foot-deep pit, within which sits an unsettling scene. Several groups of corpses have been arranged here, mimicking poses of family merriment. There are half a dozen such macabre scenes set up throughout the pit, including a middle-aged couple engaged in a romantic meal, a family of four nestled cozily in a bed, a dancing couple, and six men who appear to be brothers playing a dice game around a crowded table. Interspersed between the sinister dioramas are seemingly random objects, like a jar of eyeballs, a cage full of snow-white doves, and a large pile of ragged, filthy blankets.

Is this a Pett scenario!?

Takahiro advances to the ledge...

"Shield her eyes"

"Don't look, Tilly. It's awful stuff in here." Keep Detect Magic up, for Pai.

Any Knowledge checks to give more information on the nasty scenes?

"You sense anything?" Aod whispers to Takahiro.

Sorry guys, have been busy with holiday stuff.

Pai detects magic coming from the jar of eyeballs.

Dont wort about it, seems busy all around right now.

Aod peers into the chamber and frowns. "I don't see an exit." He whispers to the others. "There somethin below?"

Takahiro looks vastly displeased.

Detect Evil

"Something about that jar of eyeballs shows up as magical. Be careful with it. Tilly, keep your hands out of range of that jar!"

"What, this jar?-, Haris moves over to eyeball it directly then makes an obscene gesture.

The party peers into the room to better examine what it contains. Takahiro begins to sense an evil presence from the pit, as Tilly rushes into the room. "Are my parents in here!?" The party sees an emaciated, hairless canine that has a strange air of menace and cruelty about it, rises from the pit. At that moment, Tilly turns to Aod with a sneering, menacing smile and tries to stab him with a dagger!

Attack vs Aod FF: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Damage: 1d3 - 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) - 1 + (2) = 4

Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

Aod takes 4 damage and needs to make a Fort. Save!

Haris grabs a blade and hurls it at the innocent little girl. The blade flies past Takahiro and stabs into the girls side!

The canine charges forward and tries to bite Takahiro!

OK Bet 1 was that she was a plot potato we would have to rescue, because she'd do something dumb at a bad time - hence put her in the barn, or bet 2 was that she was an evil rat - and I reckon it was 30/50 odds. Never take the kid, there's no such thing as little girl lost - only traps and ambushes :p.

"My hawk senses tells me there's deception about her..., Haris whispers to the others at opportunity.

"I guess...", Haris looks suspiciouly at Tilly.

"I TOLD YOU SO!", Haris shouts fires another dagger, "She's fishier than my tights!"

After swiping blindly at Tilly Aod assumes a battle stance, charges his sword with arcane energy, and swings down at the hound, but his weapon clangs loudly off the ground. He then steps back.

"Dammit! Draw them from the room! Pai, know anything about this hound?"

The canine lunges at Takahiro as he rises, but the man dodges the snapping jaws.

Hawk flings another dagger at Tilly, sinking into her side. She screams and falls to the ground in a heap.

The hound attacks again, biting at Takahiro, but misses once again!.

Haris tumbles into the room while goading Aod to follow. Swinging his blade, he stabs the yeth hound!

Aod steps back into the fray, but misses the hound!

Pai fires yet again, blasting two tiny hoes in the beast.

Haris tries to flip himself back to standing and the yeth hound bites him hard in the process!

Haris then stabs out and cuts the hound a little.

Aod swings again at the beast, but continues to miss the creature.

Takahiro attacks once more, but misses as well.

Pai then sends more missiles into the hound!

The hound snarls and snaps it jaws, biting Haris once more, causing the man to bleed heavily!

Summoning reserves of rage from deep within, Aod snarls and swings his sword again.

Aod summons a mighty fury and attacks the yeth hound! His blade slices into the creature, cutting it deeply. It let's out a yelp, then falls to the bottom of the pit, unmoving!

Out of Combat!

Aod lets out a long breath as he releases his rage. "Damn hellish monsters." Kicking the yeth hound into the pit, he moves to Tilly and checks her for life.

"What happened here?" He looks to Takahiro and Pai. "She possessed or just pretendin? And how'd she slip through our detections?"

As Aod touches Tilly, her form wavers a bit and you see a female halfling lying on the ground. She seems to fit the description of Vaga Underbough, one of the serial killers supposed to be imprisoned within Sinner's End.

"Not sure, but I am happy to have driven one more evil wretch from this world. Some can be redeemed, some will require a turn on the rebirth and reincarnation cycle to develop. Better luck next life Tilly"

Catching their breath, and searching the room, the party finds two children asleep among the piles of tattered rags and clothing. The children are unresponsive.

"Maybe she was possessed. Or maybe she was just under an illusion the whole time," Pai says sadly.

"I can handle my own Hawk." Aod gets out his wand and waves it over the stab-wound given him by the evil halfling. "You ok? That hound was using you as a chew-toy."

After helping to retrieve the two sleeping children, Aod looks around at the other corpses, and checks the halfling again for signs of other magic or spell components.

"That list had others on it aside from this one. Think they are among those bodies?"

"Evil seed", Haris concludes on Tilly's condition. "And I'm fine like wine.", adding a few more doses.

Pai studies the children, deciding they are under the effects of some kind of poison. Need a Heal check

No good at mundane healing, Aod offers any advice gleaned through common experience.
