Lilika |
Lilika chants a few words as she reaches out and places a hand on Wymond's shoulder.
Casting stoneskin on Wymond.
Then she raises her shield.
Marcel DuBouis |
I don't think I can see anything. So I just Raise my Shield and wait.
Waylon raises his shield and waits for room to open up in front of him.
GM Tarondor |
"Nobody passes the Circle of Vissk-Thar!" the serpent-man hisses. "Except slaves. Your friend is dead or a slave."
The serpent-man hisses in pain as Nycholas's blade slashes across his torso. Further back, Lilika chants a powerful charm to ward Wymond's body as Marcel raises his shield.

Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Wymond glowers at the snake-man's words.
"Wrong answer. Fifth River Freedom: Slavery is an abomination. Gonna reap ye like the bloody harvest!"
He punctuates the statement by jabbing his bardiche forward into the snake-man. Once, twice, THREE TIMES!
Strike x3!

With Nycholas in front of him, the serpent-man has lesser cover (+1 AC).
Wymond launches a flurry of sharp slashing attacks with the bearded edge of his polearm, cutting the squamous warrior twice and leaving him bloody. He hisses in pain and blood trickles down his arms. The other two, hissing in their strange tongue, move into position, but having neither polearms nor bows can do little against you for now.

Lilika |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Unable to properly get into the fight, Lilika hides around the corner, chants a few strange words, and vanishes—her own form transformed instantly into that of a tiny black and brown bat. She flies up to the ceiling and flutters around the corner and toward the battle, trying to be as quiet as possible. (Note that she's currently up near the ceiling above the nearest bad guy. I don't recall how high the ceiling is, but I'm assuming it's at least 10 feet)
Lilika casts her focus spell wild shape (pest form) to transform into a tiny bat with a fly speed (2A), then Sneaks around the corner and toward the fight by flying (1A). Because she was around the corner and completely out of sight, and now doesn't even look remotely the same, she shouldn't need to attempt a Hide check first, but if you want her to, the roll is the same, just change it's purpose.

Perhaps spurred on by Wymond's show of martial prowess, Nycholas follows up with his own flurry of deadly cuts.

S Damage 3: 2d12 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 6 = 11
All three actions to attack.
Damn. How's that for a welcome back post. So, if the first attack kills Orange, Nycholas will use an action to Step into Oranges' place and Attack Yellow. If the second attack kills Orange, Nycholas will use his third action to step into Oranges' space.
GM Tarondor |
Nycholas's greatsword rises and falls like the tramp of doom! His first blow kills his foe. He then steps over the dying serpent-man to crash his blade down on the next!
The serpent-men around the corner falls on Nycholas with a fury, but he manages to fend off its attacks.

"Your turn, Wymond!"
Marcel DuBouis |
Marcel moves forward to see around the corner and then casts Telekinetic Projectile to pick up the dead creature's weapon and fling it at the other creature.
Stride, Telekinetic Projectile x2. If the weapon is to big I just grab something of the appropriate size and fling it. I think I can only see the purle non-blurred lizardman.

So technically you can't do that, and if the scimitar was the only thing you could throw, I'd say no. But never let rules get in the way of a good story! Incidentally, this is why my wizard carries around packets of ball bearings, razors and nails (for bludgeoning, slashing or piercing damage) for use with telekinetic projectile when there is no debris available.
Marcel mentally hurls a scimitar at the serpent-man guard, who bats it out of the air at the last second.
Wymond, go!
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Wymond follows Nycholas and his bardiche darts past him into the snakeman on the other side!

Standing close behind Nycholas, Wymond absolutely rails the serpent-man with a pair of devastating blows from his bardiche! Wounded and bleeding badly, the warrior flees, but Nyc is on him in an instant and cuts him down from behind! He screams and falls to the flagstones, dead.

Wymond Dwerryhouse |
"Give that wanker what-for, Nick!" Wymond says.
Lilika |
With her need to slip by far less important, and only one foe left, Lilika flaps forward, all the way to the end of the hall. She's moving west all the way to the end of the hall so she can see what's around the corner. Then she flaps back to the fight as currently placed and reverts to her natural form. Dismissing the spell.
Nycholas Hyll |
Nycholas moves around the last snek and strikes at it twice.

GM Tarondor |
Nycholas, PF2e doesn't use percentile dice for anything that I know of, certainly not for Miss chance. That's a DC 20 Flat check. I'll let the high rolls stand, however.
Lilika flies down the corridor, sees a bend and a closed door beyond and returns, resuming her dark elven form. Nycholas cuts down the last serpent-man guarding the great doors with a flurry of expert swordsmanship.
Suddenly, all is silent.
Nycholas Hyll |
"Huh. Well. They didn't put up much of a fight. There's no way these snakes could have beat Signifer Chaid." Nycholas swings his sword in a vertical circle, bits of residual arcane power discharging from the blade and preparing it to be used for Spellstriking again. "Is everyone OK?" The young eldritch knight looks around at his companions and lets out a long breath. It had been something of a mad rush from touching the trapped idol to now. He pulls out his healing tools and gets to work.
Is Nycholas poisoned from the sneks? I'll roll a Treat Poison just in case.
Treat Poison Nycholas vs Poison DC: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 33
Treat Wounds Nycholas (DC 20): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30

I think that tops everyone off?
Critical Success You grant the creature a +4 circumstance bonus to its next saving throw against the poison.
Success You grant the creature a +2 circumstance bonus to its next saving throw against the poison.
Critical Failure Your efforts cause the creature to take a –2 circumstance penalty to its next save against the poison.
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
"I'm fine, an' I'll help the rest of ye be fine too."
Wymond offers Erastil's divine healing (Lay on Hands) to whoever needs it, kneeling and praying in-between to refocus until everyone is healed.
I'll use Lay on Hands to heal anything Nycholas' efforts hasn't, as many times as needed, to ensure everyone's at full health.
Lilika |
While the others tend to the party's wounds, Lilika sits, placing her palms flat on the stone, and meditates (restoring her focus point).
Marcel DuBouis |
"Did any escape? With the tunnels connecting and running into others, I am not sure if any got away to warn others." Marcel asks.
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
"Alright. I'm thinkin' we press forward, either into one of these hallways here, or one of the side passages we passed as we were chasin' this lot. Either way, I suggest we save the lootsweepin' for later, after we're sure we ain't gonna get ambushed while doin' it."
We got four hallways to choose from: the one Lilika's in, the big one Nycholas is in, and the two in the hallway Slaagh's in. Any opinions on which one we explore next?
Nycholas Hyll |
"Might as well see what's behind these doors since they're right here." Nycholas says.
Ready to open the door when everyone else is!
Marcel DuBouis |
Marcel nods as he raises his swords, "It would be best to ensure there is nothing behind us."
Lilika |
Lilika raises her shield, then gives Nyc a nod. "Ready."
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Wymond nods and takes up position by Nycholas at the door, ready to help him open it.
"Willin' and able."
GM Tarondor |
As you approach the doors, they begin to hiss loudly. A moment later, a mass of spectral snakes emerge from the golden doors, hissing and biting!

This is a Haunt. You might try Thievery to unlock the doors or Thievery to suppress the magic runes or you might back up and think of something else!
But for now, Wymond and Nycholas need to give me DC 23 Fortitude saves vs. poison.
Hissing Doors:
Critical Success The target is unaffected.
Success The target takes 2d6 poison damage.
Failure The target is afflicted with hissing door venom at stage 1.
Critical Failure The target is afflicted with hissing door venom at stage 2.

May I spend a hero point to reroll this?
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Fortitude Save Reroll: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30
For a moment it looks like Wymond is rendered insensate by the venom, but then he plants the butt of his bardiche on the floor, tightly clings to it and grits his teeth. And then, the moment passes and he rights himself. He still looks a little green, but it appears he's resisted the worst of the venom's effects through sheer dwarven stubbornness.
"Well, that was unpleasant. Any of you magey types seen somethin' like this before?"
Marcel DuBouis |
Is the haunt still there or has it disappeared?
"If you move back I can try and deal with the runes." Marcel says in horror at the wave of serpents.
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Is the haunt still there or has it disappeared?
"If you move back I can try and deal with the runes." Marcel says in horror at the wave of serpents.
"Alrighty, Marcel!"
Wymond steps back.
"Have at it!"
Marcel DuBouis |
Marcel will try and destroy the runes if he can!
Thievery: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
That could in fact have gone better. So here is hoping the Haunt had faded for day.
Nycholas Hyll |
Nycholas takes a few steps back from the door as the poison works through his system. Luckily, it doesn't seem to effect him that much. "Uhh, what is this? I'm not good with magic traps. Will destroying the door stop the trap?"
Sorry. Rough couple weeks at work.
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Wymond shrugs.
"I reckon it would. I also reckon it'd repeatedly trigger the trap until we're done hackin' the door to pieces. Simple as."
Lilika |
As Lilika is not a trained thief, she stares at the doors for a time, a little confounded.
First, she reaches out with her magical senses, hoping she can soothe the snakes.
Nature to soothe the magic haunted snakes! (Master): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (2) + 17 = 19
...If that fails and she still has time, she casts a spell at the door, trying to harm the haunted snakes with positive energy as if they were undead.

Lilika looks around for the locking mechanism!
Perception (expert): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26
If she finds it, she points it out to the others.
GM Tarondor |
Can I try to disarm the trap again?
Absolutely. But to do so, you'd have to go back into the area of the trap.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lilika looks around for the locking mechanism!
If she finds it, she points it out to the others.
On the green snake statue to the south, Lilika finds a round depression just below the head. It is the exact size and shape of the medallions worn by some of the serpent folk. There is a strange symbol on the depression, but none of you recognize it.
Lilika Religion check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Nycholas Religion check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
When Lilika reports her findings, Wymond strokes his bearded chin.
"Still getting used to that bein' there," he mutters. "Anyhow! Let's check some of the dead snake-men. Maybe them medallions are keys?"
He goes over to some of the corpses to check and see if they've got medallions.
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
Lilika |
Lilika helps Wymond search.
Perception (find a medallion): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26
Marcel DuBouis |
Marcel waits to see if they can find a medallion before trying to disarm it again.
Wymond Dwerryhouse |
Wymond takes one of the medallions and steps over to the door.
"Y'all stand back for a moment, I don't know if the trap'll still go off even with the key."
Then he tries to insert the medallion into the depression.
Nycholas Hyll |
Nycholas is about to suggest that magic could be used to try and place a medallion, but Wymond is already on the move!
