Where we discuss our feelings and thoughts and such.

Maskini was my old character who dotted in way back when these threads were first created. He won't be accompanying us.
I'll update slides and images when I have access tonight.
I certainly hope the the main healer is not going to be expected to he the front liner again this time...

GM PaleDim |

Gotcha. Inactivated Maskini. Looks like we just need Bobbi to join us.

Sorry for the delay, was still recovering a bit from the trip to SkalCon.
Good weekend, raised decent money for Tubman, but also ended up getting some minor cruds which I've been shaking off.

GM PaleDim |

No problem :) Just wanted to be sure before we moved on.

Tubman?

One final note as we begin: this and one other game are my first actual PbP (not my first in general) GM'ing experience. So accepting all feedback at any time as I get my "sea legs" w.r.t. preparation and execution in this medium.

![]() |

Well, hopefully we'll have a stable site.
Nothing quite doing your first PbP and having the site down more often than not for three weeks....

GM PaleDim |

Yes, and now all of my "helpful" PRD links that I like to sprinkle into the narrative for quick, handy reference are about to be broken as they move to Archives of Nethys (nothing against that site, but I do hope they preserve URLs).

![]() |

The 'legacy' site is still there and being maintained.
So they should still work?

![]() |

Yeah, AoN will take some getting used to.
Since the announcement Paizo was ditching the PRD, I've been using d20PFSRD, just because it's easier for me to find what I'm looking for there than on AoN. The d20PFSRD pop-ups are annoying, and I know some words get changed for proprietary reasons.
I wouldn't characterize either site as perfect, but what can you do? Change is inevitable. Yuck.

Heading to work, will be able to post in about nine hours or so.

GM PaleDim |

Apologies folks, for some reason the site was not showing me updates for this game :/ I'll get a post up tonight.

GM PaleDim |

Self learning from this section: I've long known it's good to have a document with key chunks of text ready to go for posts. I'm now feeling the severe limitation of *not* having those ready (the consequence being that I feel the need to wait until after work to put in a good post).
Nothing profound here, or that I didn't know, just taking the pain of consequence with me to reinforce better prep habits :)

![]() |

I posted my thoughts in the Discussion Thread of GM Lorenzo's PFS Quest Honor's Echo for Redelia's GM Mentorship Program.

GM PaleDim |

Thanks! I appreciate the detailed post.
Although I've prepped a scenario's PbP text in advance a couple of times, I find the pace of PbP play is slow enough that I can do that as I go. It's much more difficult, though, if you're over-committed to too many simultaneous adventures as player and GM.
Slow enough is in context though, and since I chose to not prep the text in this case everybody has to wait for my work day to end. Perhaps this is okay, but it weighs on me when I'm the blocker. For me it's never so bad that I take more than a day, but I guess I'd like to improve my habits to the point that I can pull up the text quickly, make small contextual adjustments to personalize for the current party and post.
But, I look forward to the actual feedback data about my pacing, etc. after.

![]() |

I think the pacing's been fine, hitting or exceeding the usual one-a-day standard practice.
If you ever GM a Special, it requires a lot more frequent posting to maintain the faster pace. But you usually end up with a couple of players who sign up, say they'll post more often, and then they don't, for any number of reasons or for no stated reason at all.
The converse is true, too. The GM will start all gung-ho, posts blazing. And then... he or she just... fades away.
In that sense, I guess it's like life, n'est-ce pas?

GM PaleDim |

FYI: I will be a little slow to post over this coming weekend. I will likely still get in a post per day (though my own policy for players is one post for the whole weekend). However, as some might be used to the expectation of my faster responses on weekends, it almost certainly won't be that way this weekend.

Thanks, GM PaleDim.
I'll set up the concluding encounter shortly and provide a link here.
