North is up.

As for the door seconds seems likely. More info with perhaps an engineering lore? Maybe a warfare lore or seigecraft lore or crafting?

You wrote displayed a party health summary which seemed to indicate that we were out of encounter mode.

So, folks started rolling Treat Wounds checks.

Are we still in the same encounter? (Using ◆◆◆ not 10-minute "turns")?


Yes I understand why everyone did treat wound checks. I wasn't clear enough that the party doesn't really have 10 minutes or more to spare before things happen so I went back into rounds with a new encounter.

Things will happen very soon. You have a short time do things to prepare.

It seemed like there was some misunderstanding of the immediate threat at the northern door. There was a loud banging at the door, Tao was unconscious and Shayla and Avery started to treat wounds despite my hints that ten minutes to treat wounds was unfeasible. Merian went to hold the door. Nobody else posted for a day and a half so so I began initiative to indicate the immediacy of the threat and get things moving again.

In round one Khagra used a healing potion to revive Tao which got her from -78 to -44 hit points. Also in round one Merian continues to try to hold the door and Dreggar has raised his shield. Tao has cast Benediction. The door falls in 3 more rounds. Avery and Shayla have 3 rounds to act before the door falls, Everyone else has 2 rounds. Athletics checks to hold the door can still be done but will become harder with each success and ultimately the door will fall. Since Tao was unconscious until Khagra used his potion, she was unable to cast the r4 heal. I will allow Tao to recon her round one action cast Heal instead of Benediction if she wishes.

That is beginning to makes sense. Ok last question.

After Khagra used his potion to revive Tao, does she still get to act in this "new" round 1, or does she get to act in this "new" round 2?

Your choice. There is no longer a threat attempting to break down the door. You may continue exploring at your leisure.

Alternatively since most of you have readied actions, you might wish to immediately force the door open and fight. I will allow you to remain in rounds if you want to fight whatever lies through the door right away if you so choose.

Are those basic saves? Unclear.

Also, unsure if this is Tao’s 2nd Sustain or 1st - I tried to tick it down with the Paste and Benediction durations, but also see one of them ticking down at a different speed than the other when our group was deciding to kick in the door and continue the encounter or not.

Will fix my token when I get a chance.

I think their might be a copy/paste error in my character's HPs!

Tao is at ♥️34/78 ("-44") @ HERE
Then Avery heals her and she activates her tattoo for 26 healing total, putting her at ♥️60/78 ("-18") @ HERE
Then she is attacked @ HERE and rolls her saves @ HERE and heals for +2 more for 16+9-2=23 damage putting her at ♥️37/78 ("-41")
Then she is not attacked HERE as far as I can tell, so her current HP - ♥️37/78 ("-41") - shouldn't have changed, but, there is a discrepency in the tracker (you have her at "-67" @ HERE).

Did I miss something?

This is a brute squad.

I don't think anyone saw GM's "can be disabled" option in the combat tracker. Also, no skill was given, even if we can infer Crafting or Thievery. Tao is Trained in neither.

You are not in combat and may do whatever you wish. Bear in mind that the woman is clearly angry and most actions will likely initiate combat instantly. The woman has a sword at her hip that she has not drawn yet.

By the letter of the law, if the vampire dies, and never gets to prepare their spells again, the spell lasts forever.

That seems overly harsh. I would assume that in that case the spell would disperse after a day or so.

Spell Durations
The duration of a spell is how long the spell effect lasts. Spells that last for more than an instant have a Duration entry. A spell might last until the start or end of a turn, for some number of rounds, for minutes, or even longer. If a spell's duration is given in rounds, the number of rounds remaining decreases by 1 at the start of each of the spellcaster's turns, ending when the duration reaches 0.

Some spells have effects that remain even after the spell's magic is gone. Any ongoing effect that isn't part of the spell's duration entry isn't magical. For instance, a spell that creates a brief, loud sound might deafen someone for a time, even permanently. This deafness couldn't be counteracted because it is not itself magical (though it might be cured by other magic, such as sound body).

If a spell's caster dies or is incapacitated during the spell's duration, the spell remains in effect until its duration ends, using the caster's initiative order.

I was kidding. Man, my jokes are really not landing today. I said I spanked a misbehaving NPC in another adventure and got an Infamy warning. =P

24 hours / sunrise / whenever daily preparations should have happened seems reasonable.
