Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 Hmm Seventeen should really get that perception skill boosted. Heightened awareness and maybe other spells could help.
Seventeen remarks, "I had better prepare." She sits cross-legged and starts rapidly paging through her spellbook. She'll use one arcane reservoir point to activate quick study and swap Aqueous Orb for Lightning bolt.

Surprise Round
Isuma raises her rifle and fires (18), the bolt of cold energy scores a hit on the mutant creature and it makes a sound that sends shivers down your spine, a cross between a croak and a hiss.
Jarreck moves off away from the creature.
Froghemoth: The massive creature, easily one of the largest beings you've faced in combat, shambles forward at not quite a hop...not quite a walk. It's nearly 15 ft tall, and must weigh several tonnes. It's merely 20' from Jarreck now, and its tongue lolls out of its massive maw...

Mort begins casting a spell as he sees the monstrous hulking aberration before him. His spidery form begins weaving a spell and then shoots a bolt of shadowy energy from his arachnid behind at the creature before them.
Ranged Touch, Enervation: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 8 + 2 = 25 Negative levels: 1d4 ⇒ 2
If a hit, he has -2 on everything except damage and AC and also has -10hp
| Seven.teen |
Seventeen whispers "Accellerandum!" and suddenly the movements of the froghemoth visibly slow down as the party (well everyone except Jarreck) starts moving with incredible speed.
Turning to Mort she asks, "What is this thing?"
She casts Haste. 4/6 level 3 spells used.

Jarreck draws one of the sonic pistols he lifted from Nemgeddar. "Guaire, might be time to try out that new toy of yours. Roasted frog legs could be on the menu tonight." Thinking about the last comment a second "Or NOT!" Taking aim he tries out the pistol.

Guaire I don't think you looked at the attached link in my previous post :) the Firedrake pistol, although Seven/Mort may have wanted that one. Seven hastes her allies.
Mort sends a beam of enervating energy at the Freoghemoth. The creature still looks terrifying
Round 1
Isuma moves away from the Froghemoth and fires a beam of supercooled particles at the beast = 18
Guaire fires at the creature, but misses..he must not be used to firing a pistol. It's a pistol, not a laser weapon so all those rules apply. IE the Pistol has the broken condition now because it misfired.
Spike moves forward and AOO: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (15) + 21 = 36 Grab: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (7) + 24 = 31 Damage: 2d6 + 11 ⇒ (4, 6) + 11 = 21 The massive beast snatches the Pilo in its jaws and clamps down, hard.
Jarreck blasts the beast with a Sneak Attack!
Froghemoth begins eating his tasty treat of a Pilo Pin/Swallow: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (3) + 24 = 27 and Spike disappears down the Froghemoth's gullet, taking 3d6 + 11 ⇒ (1, 6, 3) + 11 = 21 damage. I think the Froggy takes some damage for harming the Pilo with a natural attack, just let me know how much

Poison (Ex) Quills—injury; save Fort DC 13; frequency 1/round for 4 rounds; effect 1d2 Dex; cure 1 save.
Quills (Ex) Any creature attacking a pilo with natural weapons or an unarmed strike takes 1d6 points of piercing damage. A creature that grapples a pilo takes 2d6 points of piercing damage each round it is engaged in a grapple. A pilo can also use its quills to damage any opponent it successfully bull rushes. Seventeen puts her fingers in her mouth and woolf-whistles. Suddenly with a thunderclap a huge armored dinosaur appears! Thick bony plates armor the domelike back of the squat quadruped with a powerfully muscled tail ending in a bony club which smacks down on the Froghemoth with tremendous force!
She uses 5 arcane reservoir to summon an ankylosaurus, 9/12 arcane reservoir used. Yet again I forgot to do this before casting haste which needlessly makes this battle harder than it should be.
Tail Swipe with Augmented summons: 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 14 + 2 = 35Damage: 3d6 + 12 + 3 ⇒ (4, 2, 2) + 12 + 3 = 23 The Froghemoth needs to make a fort save DC 24 or be dazed for 1 round. The DC is 2 higher than normal due to Seven's feat.

66-75 Weapon functions normally but flashes brightly, blinding the wielder and adjacent creatures for 1 round (Reflex DC 15 negates).
As the trigger is pulled, a strange vibration warns Jarreck to turn his head, Reflex(DC15): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13, however not soon enough.... <sigh> blinded 1 round
| GM Niles Iron Gods |
Again, these are pistols not tech weapons. So, on a misfire it simply gains the "broken" condition. However, instead of pistols lets say they are Revolvers (capacity 6) so we don't have the issue of them having to be reloaded every single round.
Seven summons a massive beast to attack the Froghemoth! It smashes the mutant Fort: 1d20 + 14 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 14 - 2 = 32 which recoils from the mighty blow.
Mort fires another enervating ray that strikes the massive creature.

It should be taking dmg from Spike's quills on its turn, its grappling him in its stomach, isn't it?

Jarreck moves behind the creature dropping the malfunctioning gun and drawing another dagger. Trusting the invisibility and grappled dino to keep him from the creatures gullet.

The sonic pistol is listed in the technological weapons list, why would it not fall under glitches, even the laser on that list is listed as a 'pistol'. The other weapon was a magical pistol so don't have much to fall back on there, except thinking the magic should help some but that's neither here nor there at the moment.
| GM Niles Iron Gods |
Well..I'll be damned. The AP just listed it as +1 Sonic Pistol, which I "assumed" meant it dealt 1d6 sonic damage and was a "pistol" from Ultimate Combat I didn't clue in to the fact that its a seperate item altogether. Welp, learn something every day. Jarreck, you are 100% correct, thanks for letting me know. Seems those weapons are WAY more useful than I thought they would be. Ok, Jarreck is blinded.
| GM Niles Iron Gods |
Guaire and Seven combine to finish off the heavily wounded Froghemoth. It collapses to the ground with a great crash.
| Mortimer 'Mort' Burrwaddle |
Mort skitters over to the dead Froghemoth and looks at it curiously with his many faceted eyes. He then motions with one of his eight legs to Jarreck.
"Jarreckkk? CCaaannn yoouuu sslliiccceee ittt opennnn? Getttt Spikeee ooouuttt."
| Seven.teen |
With a degree of finality Seventeen states, "Everything in this land is unreasonably aggressive. How does something like that survive as a species?"
| GM Niles Iron Gods |
I've been at home with my daughter who has the flu.
Spike Damage: 3d6 + 11 ⇒ (5, 6, 3) + 11 = 25 Spike is gone...
| Guaire |
Little buddy, you will be missed.
Guaire's face is grim.
"He didn't make it...."
Picking up the dead pilo in his arms, he looks to find the nearest tree that looks half decent, and prepares for a burial.
| Seven.teen |
Rather lamely Seventeen replies, "Oh." She pauses suddenly not sure what to say, before blurting out incongruously brightly, "We can have a funeral. I've read about those, you dig a grave, make a headstone and drop flowers around it and sing songs. Highly illogical but all the books agree that is what's done."
If seventeen was capable of such a emotions, you'd say she was approaching this with all the relish of an anthropologist stumbling upon an obscure tribe.
She's a weird Android...
Jarreck Lightfoot
|
As Jarreck fades back into view, he is blinking his eyes trying to evict the stars that are floating before him. Quietly he grabs a shovel and moves to help the ranger, if his help is wanted, if not he'll move back towards the caves and rest.
| GM Niles Iron Gods |
We can deal with gaining a new animal companion after this book is done... we are about 2/3 finished.
The nearby area is blighted and drained of color. Any trees that remain in the swampy region are brittle and diseased looking.
You guys need to level up, but we can only do that on a rest. Do you retreat to rest up? If so, where to? @Jarreck Don't forget the results of your save...
Jarreck Lightfoot
|
I haven't, I was hoping we hadn't removed ourselves a mile away for this burial
Simply nodding, Jarreck continues to dig, allowing the ranger a moment or two, then filling the grave back in.
| Seven.teen |
Abruptly Seventeen announces, "We should rest before venturing any closer towards that alien. The dusklight is the safest location, it would be logical to go there."
| Mortimer 'Mort' Burrwaddle |
"Aggrreeeeddd. I aamm feeeellinngg a biitt draineeeddd. Thoughhh I likeee myyy neeewww founndd formmm,"
| Seven.teen |
Seventeen points up the hill, "Let's retrace our steps. Mort perhaps you can scout for us?"
She starts walking. It will be interesting to see Jarreck's reaction.

"If neeedddeeddd yessss. I willll haveee tooo changggeee foorrrmmm agggaaiinn. I willll not be abbbllleee to converssseee aaasss easilllyyy thouggghhh."
If so, Mort will change back into a raven and fly ahead of the group to look out and warn of danger.
Perception: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (17) + 19 = 36
Jarreck Lightfoot
|
Jarreck thinks about it a bit, shrugs and starts towards the Disk light. However if anyone pays attention it is clear he is in no hurry to get there. Before long the others are walking next to him. 1/4 mile maybe
Shortly thereafter he comes to a stop. "I need to go back, I've left something behind."
| Seven.teen |
Seventeen pauses and her eyelids flutter as she consults her databanks, visualising the scene they left. Moments pass and then she replies, "Jarreck we left nothing. You still have all your equipment."
Jarreck Lightfoot
|
"No, you don't understand, I don't know what it is but I left something back there, almost as if, as if it was a piece of me. I must go back" Jarreck replies in a monotone that almost perfectly matches Seven's tone. Then starts walking again back towards the direction they just came from.
| GM Niles Iron Gods |
It would be a pretty easy KN:Arcane roll (dc15) to realize that Jarreck is being afflicted with some compulsion.
| Seven.teen |
Kn: Arcarna: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (4) + 19 = 23
Seventeen blinks once as her processors come to their inevitable conclusion. Turning to Guaire, in an utter monotone she informs him,"Guaire, Jarreck is bewitched. It must have been that alien. Grab him, a nights rest away from its baleful influence should restore his senses."
Of course if Jarreck resisted, he was going to get wet...
Seventeen unceremoniously sat down and started flipping through her journal looking for a particular bookmarked page. Having found it she rapidly starts reading. Swap lightning bolt for aqueous orb 10/12 reservoir used.
Jarreck Lightfoot
|
I'm guessing it is a wet rogue that is returned to the Dusklight this night."
Jarreck continues to walk towards the cave system content to rest the night outside. If Guaire calls to him or takes his arm he'll turn and speak with him, but he intends to return to the caves.
| Seven.teen |
Seeing Guaire hesitating while the enspelled Jarreck walks off, Seventeen decides to force the issue. Eyes blazing she whispers the words to a powerful spell and a huge ball of water surges towards Jarreck threatening to engulf him!
That would be DC 23 reflex but tbh I'd suggest we don't actually roll this out. Lets just say a rather wet and bedraggled Jarreck gets transported to the dusklight and at some point the alien's influence ends due to distance.
