Taurus-Strong-Like-Bull |
"Gorum's armored cock!", Taurus growls in frustration. There's no way those rotted planks are going to support my weight.
"Haris, there's our crate", the hulking warrior says pointing at the end of the warehouse. "Think you can 'entertain' the hooks from the crane into our prize so we can lift it out of there?"
Kobash |
At the moment, only Taurus has officially stepped inside the warehouse. Can everyone give me a location for their characters on the map using the grid coordinates? If you're unfamiliar with how to use those, here are examples:
The spot outside the door on the pier is 12M. The hole in the floor of the warehouse is areas 5U 5V 6U and 6V.
Haris Hawkson |
Move to P-14
Haris looks over at Taurus, "You're starting to like me aren't you."
"Even if I could, it doesn't look like there's anything to run the hoisting hook through. For insurance, the thinker here's got the right idea", he nods to Falyf and asks, "See to that right away?"
"How about Adamus help you crack open some of these loose soft goods and cushion the bottom of the boat to break the fall? Wouldn't want that crate to go straight through the hull or scuttle the skiff. One spit or bird turd on that parcel will probably do it."
Meanwhile, Haris gingerly toes over to underneath the hanging hoist and tests it's strength and function.

Taurus shrugs his broad shoulders as the others start throwing together their complicated plan.
"The crane looks like the easiest answer but use whatever means pleases you. Just get it done".
Haris Hawkson |
Haris is calling the 'crane' same as the 'hoist', inspecting it for use. GM please describe this device.
"Is the roof on fire?", Haris waves his hand a the far end of the warehouse, "We've been here for less than a minute and you're already getting squirrely. From what I've been told, Pathfinder missions are never too easy, or else they'd hire couriers. Free feel to step on over there and grab the container so we can leave quickly."
Kobash |
As Haris examines the crane he notices a glint of light reflected from the darkness among the crates. Then the glint blinks and scuttles forward, becoming a large dire rat as it emerges into the light and bites into his leg (4 Damage). Then two more dash out from the crates on the opposite side of the warehouse and close on Taurus, both sinking their filthy teeth into him as well (2 Damage).

Taurus snarls as the large rodent somehow finds an opening in his armor and pierces his skin. Losing his axe from it's brace at his hip the giant warrior brings it down in a brutal chopping motion on the offending beast.
"Rat, big ones", the burly Shoanti shouts.

Double Move while drawing earthbreaker and ending at S13 next to two of the rats.
Kobash |
Haris leaps away from the dire rat, nearly stumbling in his haste to exit stage-right, or in this case, crane-above. He ends up dangling just out of reach of the giant rodent, which spends a few moments circling and hissing before scrambling up some crates and nets to a rafter near the roof.
Kalin prepares for combat.
Tarus cuts through one of the rats facing him, splintering the floor beneath it with the force of his swing. The remaining rat snaps its teeth at the large man, but gets nowhere close to sinking them into his flesh.
Adamus moves up to the remaining dire rat facing Taurus.
Curraine prepares the boat (Moving to door and detect magic will have to be next round).
Falyf is next, but everyone go ahead and state action for next round.

As the rat in the rafters rears to lunge at Haris, it is struck by Falyf's sling bullet and scrambles for purchase. It hisses at the unexpected attack, but doesn't fall.
Adamus' eathbreaker leaves his rat a red hairy mess mixed with splintered bone and teeth on the ground.

Taurus-Strong-Like-Bull |
It looks like I forgot to buy a ranged weapon. Do you mind if I retcon a couple throwing axes onto my character sheet?
Dropping his bloody battleaxe Taurus pulls a smaller handaxe and hurls it with a roar at the wounded beast.
Ranged Attack minus Cover
1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 3 - 4 = 14
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Kobash |
I won't allow a retcon for Taurus. These are supposed to be inexperienced characters, and I like the idea that he made a rookie mistake like neglecting to equip himself with a ranged weapon. However there are a few crates with old, rusty weapons in the warehouse, so I'll let you make a perception check to find something suitable to throw next round. (DC 10 for a broken simple weapon with -2 to hit & damage. DC 15 for a poor quality simple weapon with -1 damage. DC 20 finds a normal simple weapon without penalties.
Kobash |
The rat leaps off the rafters to the crane and sinks it teeth into Haris hand before he can pull it away (3 damage). Then it sprouts an arrowhead from its eye as Curraine's bow shot takes it through the head. Knocked from the crane, the dead creature falls to the floor of the warehouse with a dull thud.
FIGHT OVER.

Taurus wipes the gore from his axe on a cloth from one of the nearby crates, "Nice shot Curraine", the Shoanti rumbles.
Now back to the epic struggle of retrieving a singular inanimate object.
Curraine Bahmler |
Collecting the remains of the rats and dropping them into the water bellow, Curraine can be heard speaking to them in a low tone. Sorry little dudes, I know you were just defending your food
Haris, if you come down here I'll patch you up. Anyone else need some attention?
cure light wounds on Haris
1d8 ⇒ 1
Kobash |
Curraine: No rerolls for cure light wounds. You might want to cast another or channel energy to heal the injured. Also, no magic was detected in the warehouse.
The fight over, the task of obtaining the contents of the crate continues. Falyf finds nets and rotting canvas suitable to cushion the boat. Harks determines that the crane is sturdy enough to swing out over the crate, but will require someone to brave stepping out to the crate, or dangle precariously from the crane itself, to secure it to be moved.
Curraine Bahmler |
seeing that Haris is still in bad shape, Curraine will use a channel energy
Channel energy - 1d6 ⇒ 2
It looks like you guys have the cargo handled. I'll be over here with these barrels of food. I want to bring whatever is still usable to the grommets.
Cast purify food and water on any barrel of food that isn't completely spoiled. I can purify 1 cubic foot of food or water so basicly 1 small barrel. If there are any other barrels that aren't spoiled I like to try and take them as well.
Haris Hawkson |
Experiencing divine healing for the first time, Haris gawks in wonder as muscle and sinew reattach themselves and the wounds close. "Bless you! Alright, from now on I'm sticking with the this elf and whatever deity he's walking with." Haris stands up and brushes himself off, his hand lingers over the healed areas, making sure the ghostly stitches are holding.
Falyf Nightwing |
"Got what I need," Falyf says to no-one inparticular, then heads to the boat, puts the stuff in, loosens the boat and rows out under the warehouse, to the position of the crate. He then positions the boat in a way, if the crate drops, it falls into the boat (and not onto him).
Taurus-Strong-Like-Bull |
We need someone to do some acrobatics to hook up the crane.
Edit: Or I can just try it myself.
Reasoning that the crane was sturdy enough to move heavy cargo and would thus be strong enough to support even his massive weight, the Shoanti stows his shield and hoists himself up on the crane.
Climbing hand-over-hand, with surprising agility for a hulking man of his size, Taurus dangles from one arm while using the other to fasten the hook from the crane into their objective.
I don't know if it's an acrobatics check or a climb check.
1d20 ⇒ 19
Climb: 23
Acrobatics: 17
Kobash |
Taurus easily climbs out onto the crane arm over the crate, but discovers that fastening the crane hook is more difficult than it appears, since ropes or nets are usually slung around a crate for support. However, he also realizes as he's dangling over the crate that his strength alone is probably sufficient to hoist it off the ground by one of the handles he can see on the side.
If you'd like, roll a DC 10 strength check to move it with one arm. Also, the boat is positioned beneath, so you have a bit of room for error.
