”I would appreciate being able fk breathe underwater,” Cedar says. ”Just in case. Don’t worry, we’ll send these sahuagin and Helkhterie packing and you’ll have your reef back before you know it!”

Purpose Creche |

"We will deal with them. Are there other displaced naga? More people in need of aid?"
As for aboleth background knowledge... I'm not sure. I guess any rumors or events associated with them? I feel like asking specific abilities is a little weird in context.
Oh, and did she say what that mithral seafoam shawl is?

GM Kate |

Sorry about that!
"The clear stone allows you to survive without food or water. The little dolphin figure can transform into an actual dolphin who can send messages. The shawl is quite ingenious: it transforms the wearer's fins into feet!"

Prince Joli Toli |

"Well, the dolphin sounds great! More friends! Maybe once we've taken care of the sahuagin you'll be free to explore the waters with us! We've heard there's an underwater city nearby. Did you know?" Joli looks at the dolphin figurine. "Maybe you can ride it, Purpose."

Purpose Creche |

"It would need to be very docile, Joli. But this would be very helpful." Purpose Creche hands the dolphin to his grippli friend, then lifts the shawl and drapes it across his shoulders.
How's it look contrasted with an ankle-length black coat?

GM Kate |

It looks fantastic, but would do very little for Purpose, since it only changes people's limbs from fins to feet and not the other way around. It would be awesome with a merfolk in the party.

Purpose Creche |

D'oh! Let's go with the dolphin figurine and the ring of protection +1, then?
Once we hear how she reacts to questions about other naga, and the underwater city, I think we're ready to head out? I guess we should ask if she knows anything about the numbers and capabilities of the sahuagin, too...

GM Kate |

"There are no other naga around here. Just me. I don't know how many inhabit my reef now, but about a dozen took it from me."
She responds to Joli, "Oh, Talasantri? It's far too crowded and busy for me. I know that others go to trade there."

![]() |

”A busy and crowded city beneath the sea?” Cedar’s mis-matched eyes sparkle with wonder. ”I’d love to go there some day. But first things first, of course. Restoring the reef and securing the island. Shall we head out?”

Prince Joli Toli |

Joli bows and smiles in farewell and once leaps over Cedar's head on his way out of his new friend's home.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32

GM Kate |

Vriskirsa swims in a circle around Cedar. If he tries putting his head under the water, he'll notice that he can breathe! Duration 7 hours.
Onward to the sahuagin?

GM Kate |

Additional question: do you want to approach the reef while it's still daytime or at night?

Prince Joli Toli |

I'm thinking daytime for our less darkly visioned party members.
"She seems like she'd be a fun companion for exploring the island!"

Tobias "Toby" Hawthorn |

Yeah, daytime.
Toby's eyes stay on the naga as she swims around, fascinated by such a colorful and interesting creature. He waves as they depart before following his friends.
Who's wearing that ring of protection? Who doesn't have one yet (besides Toby)?

Purpose Creche |

"She has an intriguing collection. She also seems very lonely. I wonder if there were other naga, and what happened to them."
Purpose Creche leaves a dark trail, water streaming off and out of his body.
Looking at the sheet, only Joli and Cedar have an RoP, though that could be wrong.

Tobias "Toby" Hawthorn |

In that case, Silt should wear this one.

GM Kate |

There is a map on slide 3! Which direction would you like to approach from, and are you taking any special precautions?

Tobias "Toby" Hawthorn |

Toby shakes for a moment as he dives in, water beginning to flow from his pores. Accepting one point of burn to increase cold resistance from Ocean's Caress to 7. This also activates Elemental Overflow, giving him +1/+2 on attacks. I have no real preference on direction of approach.

Sil'tchaak |

I had Silt with a RoP from the tower (I think). Silt will cast longstrider. Any day he is going out he will also be meditating to use Visualization of The Body: constitution
Do we have any potions? If so he would like to put a cure spell in a sureseal potion bladder.

![]() |

I thought I gave Cedar’s RoP to Silt some time ago, but I’ll take one now if there’s one available. I don’t have a preference on the direction we enter from.
Cedar spends a minute to summon forth Hakkuho!

Purpose Creche |

It looks like the reef's got a big sunken ship in it? Not sure how much we can see of things before we approach, but I'd like to come in from the northeast - we could use that ridge as cover, then maybe sneak in through the remains of the ship?
"Could you wrap me in song, Joli," asks Purpose Creche before they enter the water. "I don't want to slow us down."
How long's slipstream last?

Prince Joli Toli |

Joli gladly sings, circling Purpose and playfully slapping water on him as he does so.
40 minutes

GM Kate |

The Ershrani Reef is a sprawling series of twisting, serpentine ridges bristling with a vibrant rainbow of sea life. Tall stands of vermilion kelp drift in the ocean currents, schools of tiny fish glitter like a spray of silver knives as they swim past, and the multicolored symphony of coral polyps, spines, and pillars create an otherworldly landscape. In the distance, the dark hulk of a wrecked sailing vessel stands out against the sea of life and color.
The perimeter surrounding the Ershrani Reef is a series of coral ridges that abound with sea life. Schools of small, silvery fish twist in and out of the reef along with groups of tiny, harmless jellyfish. The reef itself lies 15 feet below the surface of the water, close enough that natural sunlight can spill down from above during daytime hours, though much of the reef and the water around it are cast in dark, shifting patterns of shadow and light at all times of day. Low-light.

Prince Joli Toli: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
You spot a group of four sahuagin, just north of the sunken ship. They don't seem to have spotted you yet.
The shipwreck definitely seems like it's currently a habitat, and you suspect creatures live inside. There's also a cave visible on the east side of the reef.

Prince Joli Toli |

Joli gestures to his friends, pointing towards the cave, then towards the sahuagin, and putting his flattened hand in between them as a wall. He begins swimming stealthily along the reef to a spot between the visible band and the cave mouth.
Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19

![]() |

Hakkuho is not stealthy so sending in a scout is a good idea.

Tobias "Toby" Hawthorn |

I don't think it's a good idea to go off on our own down here... Toby follows a little ways behind Joli, moving as stealthily as possible.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Hakkuho can now jet 200’ as a full-round action, so if trouble breaks out he can arrive pretty quickly.

Unfortunately, Joli and Toby swim too close to the coral and a piece breaks off. The sahuagin turn to investigate the sound.
Going into rounds because I think it will be easier. They have heard a noise and are on alert, but they haven't actually spotted you yet.

Okay, Hakkuho and Joli are readied and delayed, respectively.
A third sahuagin joins his comrades to investigate the source of the sound.
They still don't see exactly where you are.

Prince Joli Toli |

Joli will go after Silt is done.

GM Kate |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Nope, that sounds fine! But based on that Stealth roll, they definitely know where you are.

Tobias "Toby" Hawthorn |

Toby swims to a better position, ready to try and knock out the first Sahaugin that comes within 30ft of him.

The soft call of waves and reed flute drives Purpose Creche forward. He sticks close to the seabed and the coral rise, startling tiny fish into rocky crevasses.
Double move, drawing the Azlanti sword as part of it!

GM Kate |

As Silt is clearly drawing the most attention, the sahuagin turn to look at him.
The last sahuagin swims up toward him, trident drawn. "Hey locathah, this isn't your territory. Or are you aiming to be kidnapped like your friends?"
On his way, Toby lets loose with a blast that takes him out. The rest of the sahuagin look on in shock.
