A mass of orcs and their monstrous allies charges down the foothills. Remnants of an ancient dwarven outpost provide cover and an obstacle in their path; it is the most defensible position from which to confront the enemy vanguard.
As you approach, the sound of a battlecry fills the air. "FOR THE GLORY OF GUTRATTLE!"

Lance is usually mounted, and is particularly vocal about people being in front of him - flanks are fine, but just not in his frontal charge lane :p

Same. Dortlin usually rides his ape Clyde.
Dortlin will cast Stone Call dealing blugoning dmg: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3
in a 40 ft radius. That area is now all hindering terrain.
He will use Animal Focus Bull to increase his Str as a swift action.
He will have Clyde use Chameleon Step to go double his speed as a move action (80ft) while he pulls out his Bardiche.
Clyde will then use his Dirty Trick (Blind) combat maneuver to try and blind blue.
Activate Broken Wing Gambit as a free action.
Combat Maneuver blind: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30
This provokes if blue has both combat reflexes and reach reducing half the dmg dealt from the CMB check. Dortlin takes the other half due to Shield Companion.
Clyde will use a claw attack.
claw: 1d20 + 14 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 14 + 4 = 36 for blugoning/slashing dmg: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

Seeing the advancing foes, and knowing the martial prowess of his allies, Vasily launches into a Molthuni warsong he learned during his time there. The way the bard twists teh chords and chants the lyrics imparts a morale-boosting power to all allies that hear, leading them to greater feats in battle. The Varisian moves forward nearer the action, but sure to leave a clear lane for the mounted cavalier.
Standard action to begin Bardic Performance. Move Action to position indicated by arrows.

Peribas: Casting on a moving mount (i.e. casting during a double move) requires a concentration check DC 10 + Spell Level. You can either attempt the concentration check, or change that to a single move, I'll leave that up to you since it doesn't affect the flow of combat at the moment.
Casting Spells While Mounted: You can cast a spell normally if your mount moves up to a normal move (its speed) either before or after you cast. If you have your mount move both before and after you cast a spell, then you're casting the spell while the mount is moving, and you have to make a concentration check due to the vigorous motion (DC 10 + spell level) or lose the spell. If the mount is running (quadruple speed), you can cast a spell when your mount has moved up to twice its speed, but your concentration check is more difficult due to the violent motion (DC 15 + spell level).
Peribras takes off around the southern edge of the ruins, while Dortlin rushes in, bringing up a blast of gravel and stone to cover his dramatic entrance. He rushes in, under cover of the falling gravel, and Clyde lets out a bellowing growl, blowing the settling dust into the ogre's face.
The Orc Mystic glowers at Dortlin, then looks down at Clyde. He utters a single word in orc.
I'll need a Will Save for Clyde

Daniel sinks a pair of arrows into the lumbering Ogre, but the massive hulking humanoid is able to sustain the final potentially fatal shot thanks to it's armor.
One of the Worgs rushes in at Dortlin. The creatures is dropped and rolled onto it's back with a sweep of his Bardiche, and Clyde manages to get a solid blow. The creature attempts to get back up but is rapidly cut down for it's effort (Since you can't make another trip attempt on a prone target, I'll assume Dortlin's AoO is to strike, not to trip. With it's remaining few HP, that will finish it no matter what damage you roll). A second Worg rushes the duo and is also dropped and beaten, but this one is able to roll to it's feet unimpeded. The last worg moves forward in front of it's master, looks about a bit confused, then rushes the frontline (double move). Ajir moves forward, gathering power for his pending blast, and Vassili begins to bolster his ally's spirits.
Finally, the lumbering Ogres move forward. The first Ogre swings it's massive club, attempting to knock Dortlin off of Clyde.
The Ogre slams into him with great strength, but as the club falls, Clyde slashes out fatally wounding the ogre. I think that accounts for all of your AoOs.
The second ogre, it's movement impeded by a fallen column, hurls a javalin at the frontline while the third moves forward to strike.

He took 4 AoOs. 2 on the first Worg, 1 on the second, 1 on the Ogre. I just tried to stick to your spoilers as best as I could. With 10 ft reach you do threaten the second diagonal, so you don't have to move. There is an FAQ/errata for that, but I don't have the link on hand at the moment. You might have missed it. I mentioned that if Dortlin did drop it he used his move action that round to pick it back up.

![]() |

I misread, I thought that meant if you dropped it and were dismounted for some reason. That'll be a DC20 Ride check for quick dismount, otherwise it will take a move action to dismount. Go ahead and make your check. If you pass, you've got your weapon back, otherwise you're next to your weapon and can retrieve it on your next turn. Also, picking up an unattended object provokes an AoO.

The ogre turns and looks at Daniel, scratching his head as he contemplates the question. Three arrows strike him in the shoulders, but none pierce his armor and hide.
Given the Worg's positioning, I'm going to have him take his turn now. If Lance's action kills it then it drops before it takes said action. That way I can open up the field for the rest of the party to act.

Continuing his battle-song that inspires his allies, Vasily advances to a point adjacent to the ape-riding Dortlin. He removes a scroll from his case while advancing.
Is the grey-shaded area have movement impeded? If so, I may need to set back a bit. Move Action to advance 20' (or as allowed by terrain) and Move Action to withdraw scroll. Free Action to continue BP.

Yes. The grey shaded area is all Hindering terrain. Dortlin figured it would be a good idea to slow the enemies down.

The green ogre swings his greatclub at Darkpaw, but the wolf is very nimble.

Your dmg numbers are off a bit. Dortlin is down 21 dmg and Clyde is down 6.
Dortlin will have Clyde use Chameleon Step again to move closer to both enemies.
Dortlin will try to trip the Orc.
First activate Broken Wing Gambit.
Including (long version as a reminder): BAB +4, Str inc Animal Focus +5, Improved Trip +2, MW weapon +1 Flank inc Outflank & Militia trait +5, Inspire Courage +1
Improved Trip: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (5) + 18 = 23
He'll have Clyde attack the Ogre.
First activate Broken Wing Gambit.
Including (long version as a reminder): BAB +4, Str +7, Flank inc Outflank +4, Size -1, Inspire Courage +1
claw: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27 for blugoning/slashing dmg: 1d6 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 1 = 10
aoo from both Dortlin and Clyde due to Broken Wing Gambit + Paired Opportunists.
Dortlin will try to trip the ogre.
Including (long version as a reminder): BAB +4, Str inc Animal Focus +5, MW weapon +1, Flank inc Outflank & Militia trait +5, Improved Trip +2, Paired Opportunists +4, Inspire Courage +1
Improved Trip: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (17) + 22 = 39
Clyde will attack.
Including (long version as a reminder): BAB +4, Str +7, Flank inc Outflank +4, Size -1, Paired Opportunists +4, Inspire Courage +1
claw: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (17) + 19 = 36
blugoning/slashing dmg: 1d6 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 1 = 9
Since pretty much every other action provokes an attack from Dortlin and Clyde (Moving 5 ft closer through hindering terrain, Black casting without defensive casting, Black standing from prone, Black attacking either of them, etc...) I'll post 3 generic aoo attacks to use in order if they come up.
Dortlin will attack.

blugoning/slashing dmg: 1d6 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 1 = 9

Including (long version as a reminder): BAB +4, Str inc Animal Focus +5, MW weapon +1, Flank inc Outflank & Militia trait +5, Paired Opportunists +4, Inspire Courage +1

Clyde will attack.
Including (long version as a reminder): BAB +4, Str +7, Flank inc Outflank +4, Size -1, Paired Opportunists +4, Inspire Courage +1
claw: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (17) + 19 = 36
blugoning/slashing dmg: 1d6 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 1 = 11
Dortlin will attack.
Including (long version as a reminder): BAB +4, Str inc Animal Focus +5, MW weapon +1, Flank inc Outflank & Militia trait +5, Paired Opportunists +4, Inspire Courage +1
Bardiche: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (10) + 20 = 30

Last 5 times I have tried to post, I got the goblin... I assume Peribras is having similar problems. This one is basically over, though.
The orc falls to the ground, and the claw attack tears open the ogre's throat, dropping him to the ground unconscious and bleeding.
Round 4: (Bold may act)
Dortlin (21 dmg), Clyde (6 dmg)
Peribras, Wolf
Orc Mystic (Blk -19, Bull's Strength, prone)
Lance, Flash
Daniel
Ajir
Vasily
Ogres (G -35, prone, bleeding, unconscious)
I expect Peribras to finish this up, so in the interest of time, you all can also decide next move. You have a caravan to protect, archers to disband, or you can go straight for the leadership.
