Pontia and Hyngrot take to the oars, Pontia struggling to keep the boat from turning as Hyngrot's powerful strokes carry the boat forward.

Round 2

The gnomes bend to the oar once again. The huddled which begins a strange chant.

Hanspur DC8:
An obscure river god

knowledge religion dc15:
Hanspur is an evil god of rivers, like a divine river rat he preys on the weak, spreads disease and eats through the hulls of boats whose crew ignore him. He is capricious and untrustworthy as a river in flood.

knowledge arcana:
The witch is muttering in an obscue blasphemous tongue.

What branch of knowledge do we roll to check Hanspur?

The current turns and, more by luck than skill, Pontia manages to time her strokes with it. Just cursing? That's all it sounds like to me.

Male Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 3 [HP 27/27, AC 19/12/17, F +4 R +3 W +5]

Does that mean it's our turn?

HP: 10/10 | AC: 16/16/12 | F +2, R +6, W +2 | Per:+6, Init: +4, Drinks: 0 :(

I think so.
Angus loads another bolt into the borrowed crossbow and takes aim at the same gnome as before.

"Hope this hits."

Apparently, his good rowing prior is catching up with his scrawny arms.

STR check 2: 1d20 ⇒ 3

From Shore to Sea GM All-powerful dictator of reality 4

Yep, your turn. The DC8 was knowledge (anything) basic information really, just being silly after Daxius rolled an 8.

Angus' second shot bites deeply into the edge of the boat, a handswidth too low.

Pontia:
I missed that you speak Infernal. She is speaking a strange corruption of infernal, something about dark lords, wings of shadow and masters of the night: it sounds like a plea.

Male Human Inquisitor of Iomedae 3 [HP 27/27, AC 19/12/17, F +4 R +3 W +5]

That 8 was actually a pretty good roll for me.

Daxius sets aside his suspicion that he has somehow become allied with a cold-blooded murderer, and takes a shot with his bow (at the witch).

From Shore to Sea GM All-powerful dictator of reality 4

Daxius' shot flies true, as it bites into the witches flesh her chant is disrupted and she stumbles against the side of the boat.

For a moment you see her clearly, outlined against a darkening sky and shadowy willows as an unholy light flashes from her eyes: blood seeps like tears down her cheeks and from her nose, her right hand is clenched tight around some small object and blood also seeps from that hand.

In the next moment she vomits a horrendous spume of wavering, eldritch black tar. In an instant it congeals and sinks down into the river.

"No," she cries out, "do not forsake me!"

The gnomes break off their song in shock but continue to row strongly without disruption to their rhythm.

Hyngrot left, then we'll have their actions.

Daxius fits another arrow to the string, holding his balance as the boat moves forward.
