Femi isn't sure he likes this sovereign. Treason was not merely swept under the rug, and she failed. How much punishment should she warrant? She's in prison, and that's enough for now. More feels like violence for violence sake.

He mills about during the break, glad to be away from the tension at the head table. He doesn't seek anyone out in particular, but rather just keeps his ears open to the conversations going on around him as he admires the art.

Johnathan makes his way around the various art exhibits on display and you find Lya Jierre Minister of Outsiders for Danor admiring a sculpture by a renowned Beran artist from the period just after the victory over the High Elvan goddess.

She sees you and says, "Salutations, constable Holbrook. I am definitely glad to see you. How are you doing?"

Johnathan nods nervously, a little intimidated and maybe a little enamored. "You too, I mean I'm glad to see you too, uh, you look lovely," he smiles sheepishly. "I wanted to ask you something, if that's okay..."

He waits for her response, then asks, "Do you think Danor plans to destroy Risur and the Unseen Court?" He seems earnest, not accusatory or upset, just calm, meek and curious.

Lya Jierre says, "Thank you for the compliment. I have conversed with my Uncle the Sovereign and it was never our desire to destroy Risur. The Unseen Court is an interesting organization but they do not hold sway in our lands because Danor is in the Magic Free Zone. They are a fickle bunch though. Some people describe them as capricious in order to make them sound a bit more cute."

Cretien remains in the general vicinity of the king, conversing with other RHC members and such so as not to bother the king, but keeping an eye on him in case anything bad happens.

Lya says, "Regarding the Unseen Court, we are of the opinion as long as they leave us alone we will do the same. I have heard of the ruckus that Ekossigan got up to on our behalf. There is definitely a heavy anti-Danor faction within the court."

The Risuri Minister of Agriculture makes his way over to Rognar and says, "I heard you are a fellow Shalean is that correct?"

Claude Waithe M Human Sorcerer (6) AC 15+2/14t/13+2ff, HP 53/53, Fort+6, Ref+5, Will+6, Init+7, Perc+4

Johnathan nods, apparently satisfied enough. "Skyseer visions can be...symbolic, you have to interpret them. Maybe seeing Risur become more like Danor was 'Risur being destroyed', just because it changed," he looks at the nearby painting, a glowing scene of Danor's industry, with men and women working hard under reddish purple skies. "I hope I haven't offended you. You and Cretien are my two favorite people," Johnathan tries a hopeful smile.

She says, "The heavens present us with many possible outcomes. How Mavisha interracts with Apet have an effect on us down here on Lanjyr. Magic is a good thing but it can also be a crutch. We don't have magic in Danor and magic on the Yerasol Archipelago is unpredictable. Danor needed technology to compete. Some folks are afraid about change. Technology brings employment."

"I-I feel like we're talking past each other. I'm going to...go...have a drink. I um--it was wonderful to see you," Johnathan hurries away before he embarrasses himself further.

He spots Rognar and takes a moment standing behind him to think about what he'll say.

"Hello!" he blurts, then mutters something to himself--and seems to answer his own muttering immediately with a harsh whisper. It is not reassuring.

"I um--do you always trust your visions?"

Iva moves around the room. She listens for any conversations about law and government she might join. She quietly keeps an eye on the King throughout all her wandering.

"Yes of course the Treaty causes issues, but it will come to it's natural conclusion at some point, and we will all be better for it." she responds to a question fro a minister of something or other. She didn't pay attention to who it was. The conversations are just cover.

"Oh! I'm so sorry," Johnathan says when he realizes he just interrupted a conversation and promptly turns and hurries away in a brisk walk without stopping, red-faced.

He slumps back into his chair at the dining table and pokes at the remains of some kind of shellfish on his plate, trying not to cause any more embarrassment.

The bell sounds for the next section of the banquet.

The third course of the banquet consists of renowned meat samplings brought
to Flint via magical transportation from the Risuri capital of Slate. Three plates are
put on the table, each of them filled with a selection of finely spiced and thinly
sliced meat meant as a preparatory appetizer for the guests.

When the attendees begin to eat, the topic of conversation changes to
a discussion about the start of the peace talks. Sovereign Jierre and King Aodhan give every impression of resuming an ongoing conversation
about specifics of the talks, and they supply one another hints on how
to handle some of their more difficult advisors and councilors. The tone of the conversation between the two sovereigns is open and friendly, you get a sense that both rulers are generally looking forward to the talks and bear no ill will towards one another.

The King says, "What about allowing Risuri fishermen to fish off the Yerasol Archipelago?"

The Sovereign says, "As a general rule, I have nothing against the idea, mon amis. But you may wish to consult with Besmala."

You notice another conversation spring of between Brakken from Ber, PM Lee and Lya Jierre.

Brakken says, "PM Lee, what do you think is the largest hurdle to overcome regarding the peace between your two nations."

Lee says, "I gather that for the citizenry, people outside of Flint are somewhat leary on the idea of industrialization run amok. How much cooperation between our two countries."

Brakkan says, "What is your takes on that constables?"

Johnathan waits to speak up, thinking. He listens to Rognar, listens to Femi, and Cretien... then raises his voice quietly. "I...want both to be able to exist...I never had a choice with magic, it was forced on me. I like watching Cretien--Constable Dufrene. Pursuing what he loves by choice and doing amazing things with it. I don't want the people of Risur to not have a choice. To be stuck with magic like I am, or to be stuck without it. Magic can be beautiful...sometimes."

He smiles sadly to Cretien then looks away at something that apparently only he can see, his brow furrowing slightly.

PM says, "Eloquently put."

The large minotaur representative from Ber says, "Ministrix Jierre, what do you feel is the largest obstacle to peace betwixt your two nations"

She thinks on it for about a minute and says, " I feel there is some lingering animosity between our two nations, especially on the side of the Danoran populace. They feel there has been some transgression that might never be forgiven. I hope our nations can heal together."

The fourth course consists of a haunch of specially bred boar from distant Ber,
a personal gift from Vairday Bruse, King of Ber. The meat is accompanied by a selection of varied fruits from Elfaivar, sliced into bite-sized chunks, and everything
is glazed with a sweet honey-based sauce.

Conversation switches again, and Roland Stanfield, the governor you saved from the Dwarven radicals this morning, begins to talk
about the several changes that have come to Flint as a result of Risur’s
new industrial revolution. The governor feathers his own nest by saying, "You need to understand Flint has made some serious progress under my tutelage, we literally just finished the first phase of the subrail system, built scores of various factories in the Parity Lake district, and, of course this marvel where the summit is taking place, the Hotel Aurum. Constables, thank you from earlier, what do you think about the strides we have made?"

"I think we seem to be headed in the right direction, but I must admit a certain naiveté with this sort of expanded view. I tend to be focused on the small things - who broke what law and can we catch 'em. As they say, it's hard to see the forest for the trees. I'm impressed by you who can step back, and see the big picture."

"It has not been without its setbacks. We need to increase security." Cretien says gruffly, alluding to the fact that the rail he just mentioned was bombed severely and nearly bombed again, and the factories that overflowed with witch oil.

The Governor is quickly confronted by the Danoran Minister of War,
Eloise Duffet. She brings up several problems that have confronted Flint
recently, saying "Governor Stanfield, as no doubt you are aware things have not been so peachy as you would have inclined to believe, as I believe the professor is alluding to the corruption and suicide of Mayor Reed MacBannin who unleashed witchoil onto the city just this past Summer, also arsonist attacks, and the events of the past few days—which I have learned of only after arriving in the city today. The bombing of subrail. Did you not have a naval exercise two days ago in the middle of the night? Odd if you ask me. What do you think of those events, constables?"

Labyrinth HP 47/47; AC 15/14/11; Saves 4/5/7; Init +3; Perc +10; Sense Motive +2

Femi nods, "There are crimes in any large city, and with things of such import as we are seeing now, a certain element seems forthcoming."

He takes a sip of wine and continues, "But we have things in hand so far so I wouldn't worry too much." He sincerely hopes he won't have to eat those words...

Even, in the case of the rail bombing, attempt to make their point while destroying what others have worked so hard for. It's very unfortunate."

Governor Stanfield nods at what Iva says and then lets loose a soft chuckle at what Johnathan says and then in a smooth manner, he says, "“Every society has to find its balance after a transition, but we are committed
to ensuring the safety of our citizens and our guests. You have my promise that if
you had been in any danger neither I nor the king would have kept that information from you.”

Duffet then scratches her chin and turns to you specifically and asks, "I have heard some very good things from your group but of course conjecture is nice but hearing it from the horses' mouths is a might more interesting, nay? What have you done to maintain the security
in the city? See, our capital of Cherage has been
