Round 9
Attacks from Cultist
Sword:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Damage:1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Bottlenecked at the door way the Steve and the priest continue to battle. Ducking and weaving behind the fighter and Silithid Garath fills any gap he can find with an arrow. Of his three shots only one of them seems to strike true and the cultist cries out in pain from the smoke. Lisbeth and Silitid try and finish off the man but are unable to connect with either tentacle or spell.
As the other cultist begin to cheer on their champion in the smoke you can no longer hear the voice of the Herald. Frustrated with his inability to land a blow against Steve the Cultist gives up attempting to strike him with his shield and instead lunges at the fighter with his sword. His attempt comes up short though and he does nothing more than leave another scratch on Steve's
Taking advantage of the Priest’s desperate lunge Steve lashes out at the man with his shield. The priest is quick though and the smoke just thick enough to prevent him from making contact. As he sinks back in to the smoke the priest laughs Steve’s wild swipes, What are you trying to do boy hit me or… but before he can finish his snide comment Steve lands a solid blow to the man’s face and all he can do is sputter. He curses again and spits on the floor, many of those closest to the doorway can hear the sound of what must be the man’s teeth clattering as they hit the stone floor.
Desperately tossing two more daggers into the smoke Deschain starts to edge down one of side passageways as he calls for his companions to follow.

Lisbeth, sorry about the confusion it was just flowery talk to say Silithid hit his touch AC but not his actual AC, so he hit the priest but not well enough to damage him through his armor. Also don’t forget you still have infernal healing up.

I was about to ask you the same thing Steve taunts back.
Calling back in agreement with Deschain, Gareth, take the opposite side of Deschain. Lisbeth, Silithid, back behind me. We'll draw them back until we can wait out the smoke.
Steve knows he'll still be able to keep himself between the cultists and his companions and before he makes his own retreat, he takes one last swing at anyone still hiding in the smoke.

Anticipating a retreat, Lisbeth takes a step back to accommodate her companions in the hallway, keeping her gaze trained on the smoke. Silithid moves back along with Steve, apparently unhappy that he doesn't get to hit the shiny thing anymore.
Lisbeth takes a five foot step back to R6 and readies to cast acid splash as soon as someone steps through the smoke. Silithid moves to Q6 and readies a slam attack for whoever steps into O6. Also, Lis is at full health now.

Sending one last arrow into the smoke Garath hears it thud into the barricade as he moves back taking a flanking positions to Deschain. Lisbeth leaves another puddle of acid sizzling on the floor beyond the smoke as she commands Silithid to retreat. The creature, disappointed, obeys but not before giving one last lash with its tentacle into the smoke. The time the eidolon find unprotected flesh and excitedly feels the crack of bones as the priest gives out a weak cry of pain before collapsing onto the floor in front of Steve.
The Cultists waist no time as another form steps into fill the space left by his fallen comrade and swings wildly at the fighter before him. Behind the smoke you hear a different, though similar voice barking out orders.
The last to move back Steve swings his shield viscously at the new priest in the smoke and this time connects. The Priest, seemingly unprepared for the strike gasps painfully as the shield knocks the wind from his lungs. Satisfied Steve moves back to join the rest of the party, but not be for the smoke shrouded priest make thrust with his sword.

This one flies true striking the man in the chest the acid hissing as it burns at the Priest’s unprotected neck. Unreturned he continues forward dodging nimbly past the Garath’s large sword and through Silithid’s tentacles intent on the retreating fighter. Round 12
The priest curses as his sword slides off Steve’s armor but the look of frustration in his eyes turns to one of shock as he catches a glimpse of Deschain emerging from the shadows. The rouge’s blade catches the man completely off guard and it sinks deep in to his ribs. With a painful gasp the man slides of the blade and collapses on the floor. Garath, only has a second to re adjust the swing of his greatsword, luckly he pulls the blade up and it misses the falling priest by a mere inch and continues its powerful arch towards the second priest standing directly to the west. The man doesn’t even have a chance to react as the blade nearly knocks him off his feet. Lizbeth tries to take advantage of the open target launches acid at the man but Sillithid’s excited flailing throw off her aim. Deschain though is prepares to take advantage of the opening and with a quick twist brings his bloodied sword to bear on the reeling priest. While Garath’s blade caught him high the rogue’s sword catches the priest low. Slicing through robe and armor Deschain feels his blade catch the inside of the man’s leg and with an added push sweeps the priest of his feet. Steve watches as the priest falls and is not sure if the man even hits the floor before the rogue’s other blade sinks into his stomach. In what seemed like less than a second two dead priest lye at your feet and a harsh you can hear a harsh voice call from the smoke beyond Faltore, Rennec get back here you fools it’s a trap! Faltore, Rennec…. Before any of you respond though Gareth catches the odd sounds coming from the hallway to the south, though distorted by the echoes he is almost certain it is the distant and muffled sounds of battle and cries of pain.

Actions for last turn
Great work! We have an opening now. We need to take it! With the cultists defeated and no more in sight, Steve rushes into the smoke, turning left and hoping there's nothing in his way.
Double move to K5. If all I can get is into the smoke at K6, that's fine.
If there's anyone to attack adjacent to him then he'll do that during the current turn defensively. Otherwise I'll wait to hear about what he can see if that even happens.

I put my sword away as one move action and pick up my bow as another. I'll five foot step into the hallway if able.

Lisbeth gasps despite herself as the rogue sinks his blades in to the priest's stomach. She is barely able to gather her thoughts in time to cast a quick spell on her eidolon before sending him after Steve. As soon as silithid rounds the corner he swings at the closest warm body.
Lisbeth casts resistance on Silithid, then he moves to K7 (K6 if that priest is still there) to attack K8 herald. Lis stays put for now.

The rest of the party moves to join the fighter with Silithid reaching the smoke first but unable to proceed further followed by Lisbeth and Deshain who find themselves in the same frustrating positions they were in at the start of the fight. As Gareth sheaths his sword and picks up his bow the can hear the sounds from the sound growing closer. Just as he is about to move back down the hall he hears the crash of a door being thrown open followed by the pounding of footsteps and frantic screams. A second later a disheveled acolyte rounds the corner to the sound madly swatting at his clothes, he makes it 5ft closer before he see's Gareth standing there and freezes dead in his tracks.
Distracted by the whirl of short swords around him Steve notices too late the thin blade of the Herald's sword. The blade finds a small gap in the fighter's armor and he feels the sharp sting of the metal and then the warm rush of blood. Gareth trains his bow on the stunned cultist, shouting commands and questions at the man. Just as the ranger steps back he sees a number of large black spots moving over the man’s robes, spots with lots of legs and round hairy bodies.
The cultist seems to remember that he is covered in spiders at that very instant and begins franticly swatting at the arachnids swarming over him. So the man seems to completely losses it and starts to throw himself at the walls before tearing at his robes reveling even more spiders and large red welts covering his body. While the acolyte covered in spiders is very distracting both Gareth and Deschain can hear more voices and cries of pain coming from the around the corner behind the man.
At the front of the party Steve finds himself stuck as four blades cut through the smoke all around him. Once again the Herald is able to find a gap in the fighter's armor and leaves an deep wound under Steve's right armpit.
Desperate Steve lowers his shoulder and slams into the Herald to his right. Though not a slight man the Herald is no match for the armored fighter that erupts from the smoke and Steve is able to push the man back ten feet opening up room for his allies to more forward. With out hesitation Silithid steps into the smoke and with one swing from one of its muscular limbs knocks the acolyte to its left clean off his feet and the man now lays bleeding on the stone floor at the monster’s feet.

Seeing the herald pushed out the fight and their fellow acolyte smashed to bits by the monster hidden in the smoke the three cultists back away from the fight. The two behind the barricade drop their swords and fire two bolts into the smoke, with both scoring lucky hits against the creature. The acolyte in the hall just turns-tail and runs up the stairs. With the battle turn against him the herald takes a step away from Steve and, with a grin, draws a potion and downs the contents. In a blink of an eye the man fades from view and the potion vial shatters at Steve’s feet.
The cultist covered in spiders falls back against the cell door to the south and with one last scream terror passes out. Jumping over the body of the fallen acolyte two masked priest dash into the hallway, one of them, skidding to a halt in front of Gareth, sword and shield at the ready.
Seeing his opponent disappearing Steve jumps forward, swinging his shield and fist in the area he last saw the Herald but unable to hit anthing. As the priest’s wound stiches itself back together his college charges forward slashing at Gareth.
