Holg Redhawk |

Hello everybody and good gaming! And thanks a lot to GM Deekan for the confidence on picking Holg for his game!
Holg waves his hand to all the audience. He seems fierce and determined.
I think I will rename his nickname to Redhawk, for his original tribe.
It seems we have all roles covered, but if anyone feels someone is missing, I am open to rebuild Holg to balance the party.

Hey everyone. :)
My character: Long story short, Azalia works for Khonnir as an apprentice, and is a good friend of his daughter Val. Now that he is gone, she is determined to find him. She looks a little bit strange because she has an android arm that has been slowly "upgrading" the rest of her, but she is still recognizably human (she thinks it makes her super-human, but it is all flavor).
RE: Roleplaying, where are we starting from? Khonnir's disappearance?
When Azalia found out that Khonnir was missing, she went straight over to his house to find out what happened, and to see if Val was okay.

I don't want to give away too much, but yes shortly after Khonnir's disappearance and a few other things.
A quick update. I have all maps made. I have a campaign tracker for progress. I will get all these links up with anything else I think of hopefully by the end of the week.
1. I'm thinking a tentative start date as August 14th. This gives me time to read through it a few more times and make sure we have everything we need to start.
2. We are going to be at this for a while. You can expect me to update every 24hrs. If you post more then sometimes I will update more.
4. No sense in rushing this. Let's take our time and get everything out of this AP that we can. This is going to be fun.
I do plan on taking some short breaks in certain spots. By short I only mean a few days(5-7). This is so I can work on my other tables I have going(making chronicle sheets).
If there is anything else you can think of so we can get set and go let us know.

Checking in. Have dotted and deleted Gameplay. Have some experience with PBP GMing so happy to help if you need a hand or advice.
Graz will be classic hard-hitting barbarian with little interest or training in new tech that might be found. His motivation is simply revenge on Technic League for his years of bondage and torture. If he can free other slaves, he'd jump at that chance as well.
I read that party has already been formed, so our characters know each other, at least enough to volunteer for the rescue mission.

Azalia |

I'll have to go and read the player's companion again before we start; I still have big blanks about what to do next. If we know each other already, that helps... do we know where he was taken?

Ryder-XIII |

With Azalia being Khonnir's apprentice, it's very likely that she knows Ryder and Holg as tech-scavengers that have sold bits and pieces to Khonnir over the last few years.
Just how well she knows the pair is up for debate. I can imagine that given the nature of Azalia's arm she may have had more than a few conversations with Ryder, given that he is an android.

Azalia |

That sounds likely. :) I would have wanted to know more, and maybe even kind of secretly hero-worshipped you a little bit because I think I am turning into an android.

![]() |

The Player's Guide indicates the group has been gathered to investigate the disappearance of Khonnir in the caves below the Torch. It also says other groups have been sent, but none have returned.
It sounds like some of you may know each other prior to the AP, but Graz is an outsider in Torch, having just wandered into the area, and heard about the job.
He is a hulking half-orc with an especially toothy jaw that gives him a fearsome countenance. It also serves to keep him a bit of an outcast from normal human society. He is also criss-crossed with scars from brutal whippings while enslaved. These are mostly on his back and shoulders, but are apparent since his arms are bare.
He carries a long spiked steel chain, which he can swing to devastating effect when the mood strikes him.

Ryder-XIII |

That sounds likely. :) I would have wanted to know more, and maybe even kind of secretly hero-worshipped you a little bit because I think I am turning into an android.
She may have re-thought that hero-worship after a few conversations. Not that Ryder is mean-spirited or cruel, he simply lacks anything resembling human empathy. ;)

Azalia |

Ryder, good point. Still probably fascinated even so.
Graz, that's okay. We wanted a big green guy to hide behind anyway. ... Or was that just me? :)
Also, thanks for the reminder. I read it, really, but I think I was concentrating on figuring out a character rather than playing one. I'll review before we start though.

Brennen Timeforger |

"Hello all, sorry I am late. I found a fascinating piece of machinery in the junk yard. No skymetal though, sadly. I do hope our journey doesn't take long, I have a lot of work I need to attend to." Brennen looks at everyone briefly, then spends his time assessing junk and bits of metal in his pack.

Holg Redhawk |

Azalia-Holg-Ryder motivations to party together in this quest seem resolved.
About Graz, we have dealings with Kellid and Orc tribes from time to time (Ryder and Holg). Thus we might have come to meet Graz at some point. Another option is recently, Holg has sold his axe as a mercenary, so he might have 'worked' together with Graz. Holg knows the Technique League is behind the collapse of his tribe, and conversation with Graz might have made the Kellid interested on his plans for revenge. Ultimately when rescuing Khonnir come to the table, he might have thought on Graz, both because his abilities and so Holg can evaluate how serious the half-orc is going about revenge towards the Technique League. He proposed to join the party on this job and Graz accepted.
About Brennen, I have not that clear idea. But I guess, being a cleric of Brigh, he has probably come to know and become interest on Ryder's nature and Azalia's nano-arm.
Does it work for you? Comments? Alternative options?

Azalia |

Sounds good. Plus the community side... we need Graz's strength and Brennen's healing to save one of our own, and outsiders often want a chance to be accepted into a community. This is a big chance.

About Graz, I think the idea of meeting as mercenaries works. With Holg bringing him to the table to meet the others. Graz was not a member of any of the local tribes, as he was born into slavery and only recently escaped. Trading on his strength, he could've joined a mercenary company and met Holg there. I'm satisfied with that.

![]() |

Graz simply stares at Brennan as he arrives at the table. The dwarf's fascination with the little pieces of metal and the gadgets he made from there were incomprehensible to the barbarian, who until recently had only survival on his mind.
Looking around the table, Graz grunted to himself. A mechanical man, a magic-casting wizard, and this tinkering dwarf. Of the whole company he only trusted Holg, who knew how to deal in steel and blood if it came to that. These others, well, he just couldn't be sure. But if they needed someone to protect them while they searched for a missing pale-skin, he would do that. It meant getting back at the League, who rumor had it was behind the disappearance, plus he could put some coin in his purse and some allies at this back.
Raising the metal tankard at the Foundry to his mouth, Graz worked the cup around is elongated incisors, making a slurping sound, and spilling as much of the ale down his front as he actually got done. Caring not at all for social propriety, he drained the mug in one long draught, slamming the mug down on the table with a resounding clang. Wiping the ale from his chin with the back of his hand, he called out loudly enough to make nearby patrons jump, "MORE!"

Ryder-XIII |

At mention of the piece of machinery, Ryder's curiosity is piqued. "Oh? What made this particular piece so fascinating?" the android asks.
Seeing and hearing the disposition of the half-orc at the table, Ryder turns to Holg. Glancing back toward the half-orc, the android asks his long-time partner, "Friend of yours? His mannerisms are quite similar to what I have seen out of you."

Brennen Timeforger |

As far as motivations for working with others is concerned, beyond the possibility that you may have needed healing in the past and developed a rapport
- Holg : An interest in your arm is a good idea and probable.
- Azalia : Her abilities as a Nanite-bloodline Sorcerer are fascinating to Brennen. He believes she must be touched by Brigh
- Ryder: Ryder also fascinates Brennen, though the reason might be considered insulting. Ryder, and androids in general, are the perfect clockwork constructs and if he could discover their secrets it would be very valuable to his community in magic void Alkenstar
- Graz: This relationship has the most possibility for contention. Besides the typical Dwarf vs Ork issues, Brennen views Graz as a simple brute. Brennen is practical though and understands the need for muscle.
" It has a simple, but practical application." Brennen answers Ryder without looking up.

Azalia |

What application would that be?
Azalia enters the conversation because she too would like to know why the junk metal is fascinating. Does it have power like her arm does?

Brennen Timeforger |

"It is an ingenious device used to measure length." anyone with knowledge of actual technology understands what he has is the head of a rusty crescent wrench Brennen says as he demonstrates it to Azalia by measuring the length of her water skin. " Your water skin is 17 and 1/2 widgets in length. Its a very accurate device." Brennen declares the last part with pride.

Azalia |

Oh. Azalia says, somewhat disappointed.
That is cool, but I was hoping it would be something more... alive, like this.
<She shows him her fused android/human arm.>

Ryder-XIII |

Ryder cocks his head, trying to understand Brennen's explanation.
"I believe your assessment is in error." the android flatly says as he produces a functional version of the item in question from his pouch.

Holg Redhawk |

Holg pat's Graz's shoulders while smiling at Ryder's comparison with him "This here Ryder is Graz. Brave and strong. We have worked together in the past protecting caravans. I have seen him cutting half wolves with just one strike"
"So what's the plan?" Holg turns to Azalia "Is this true that Khonnir has disappeared? What do we know?"
As for Holg, having Graz around, I think I will focus him more on defending the battle space, rather than damage. Nothing extreme, I find AoO and reach weapons too complex in PbP, but I mean things more like pushing assault. I want to play with those kind of concepts. Advice welcome.
Azalia would you consider selecting enlarge person? This kind of spell might benefit a lot Graz and Holg at this level without dependency on enemy defences. Also, it would be great if you or Brennen could add a magic weapon scroll or similar solution. I have had bad experiences with lower level combats against DR/magic and incorporeals before. Overtime, we will also need to figure out how to bypass hardness I guess.

Azalia |

Holg,
Enlarge person would be awesome for your offensive capability; I get that... but it would also be really crappy for mine. I get *2* level one spells, man. Isn't it better to have two people able to fight than one big person and one person only able to pick her nose?

![]() |

Graz nods barely perceptibly when introduced by Holg. "Holg good friend. Holg fight strong." says the barbarian in a low voice gripping the man's shoulder with a meaty paw. "Graz will watch out for rest of you. Make sure no hurts soft ones when we go under earth." He tries to smile, but his large incisors make that more of a fearsome grimace.

Azalia |

Azalia grins at Graz's introduction, and then addresses Holg's question.
Yes, Khonnir has disappeared. That's why we're here. I don't know anything additional. He just told me and Val he was going to the caves, and then he never came back. We've been trying to keep things running...
Azalia looks briefly like she might cry, but then she glances at Ryder and visibly calms.
We're headed down to get him back.

Azalia |

That's a good question, Graz. Most of the time he went down to find things to study. He wanted to know about the people who used to live here. But this time I think he was trying to find out why the violet fires from under the earth had gone out, because the whole town's economy kind of centers around that... people can't forge skymetal now, and we have to pay the Technic League soon. I worry that he wandered farther than he usually goes, out of concern for the town, and got lost or trapped. Most don't think he is still alive after this long, but... if anyone could survive down there, he could. He knew... er, knows more than anyone about the things down there.

![]() |

At the mention of the Technic League, Graz recoils as if slapped and an involuntary growl escapes his lips which pull back in a savage looking snarl.
"The masters....Masters will pay...Graz will pay them. After we find wizard-man. Graz will pay them. You will see." he says in a dangerous low voice, eyes narrowing.
He reaches again for his re-filled mug, working it around his over-large teeth and swallows it down rapidly. The metal cup resonating as it slams back onto the tabletop with considerable force.

Azalia |

I don't like them either. The whole town is basically hostage to them. That's why he went down there and might be dead...
Azalia starts to look sad, but then the emotion switches to fervent.
I hope you do make them pay someday, Graz. I hope you do.

Ryder-XIII |

"One as single minded as Graz is likely to do just that, Azalia." Ryder comments. "That is if his mind is as one-tracked as Holg's."
In an attempt to simulate human emotion, Ryder attempts to comfort Azalia, "Khonnir has proven to be quite resourceful over the years. I imagine he is still functional...although he may need something similar to you arm."

Azalia |

That's true. Maybe we can save him, if he is only hurt. Good thought, Ryder. I need to grab some extra android parts from the workshop before we go. If the nanites could help me, they can probably help him too.

Brennen Timeforger |

Brennen puts away the rusty piece of junk and joins the conversation. "I hope Khonnir went underground to seek a remedy for the forge. The sooner I can get back to my work the better."
This beast was enslaved by the Technic League? No wonder he seems so bloodthirsty. Brennen thinks to himself as he puts distance between him and Graz.

Azalia |

He said the 14th, so very soon now. :)

Come everyone and have a seat at our table. This glorious run of Iron Gods will be officially starting tomorrow Aug 14th. Trust me I am itching to start too. I got a nesssge from Holg saying he will be traveling and be in and out for a week. To start we will go slow so we don't leave him out of anything. I will have all relevant sheets up later today. I have been looking at other GM's who are running this for some ideas on things so I'm ready to go. Expect my initial post tomorrow morning.

I will also be traveling for work this week, leaving tomorrow and returning on Thursday. I should be able to check in from hotel in the evenings most nights but may be slow to respond or absent for a day without notice.
Should be back on routine by Thursday PM

Thanks for starting the game!
I made first post and filled out the forms attached. I do like the campaign tracker, and may steal it (if you give permission) for use in my games.
Greatly looking forward to this AP which I don't really know much about.

I am traveling this week for work, and may not be able to post each day depending on schedule when I get there. Will try to find time each evening. Should return on Friday afternoon. Feel free to run Graz should such action be necessary. His combat actions are not a mystery...
