"Aye, nice footwork."
At Jiranis mention of exploring the pit Olik responds, "Sounds good but let's give things a moment to settle. Might be that someone, or something, will come looking when it hears the trap being sprung."
With that he sheaths his sword and takes out his bow. Arrow nocked he splits his attention between the far side of the pit and the pit itself.
T10 on Perception for a 16
I'm assuming Tam is on our side of the pit.
Olik Vogenson

"Or perhaps not." the Ulfen says after a few minutes. "Shall we see if the poor souls who came before us have left anything for us?" he asks while putting away his bow and taking out some rope.
If someone will hold the rope Olik is happy to head down and take a look.
Jirani Kafr Abdu
|
Jirani holds the rope while Olik climbs down. "See if you can tell if the fall killed him. It would have been torture to wait there to die, wondering why you didn't just bring a rope and grappling hook. Which reminds me, we should probably get a grappling hook." He braces himself again when Olik waves that he's climbing back up.
Tamarie Yangrit
|
Tamarie's instincts kicked in when the floor under her begang to move, and she jumped forward, keen on doing the mission the guys entrusted her with: exploring ahead.
She looks down only half a second, but leaves the pit to the guys.
They have rope, and don't mind climbing.
She will continue to explore slightly further, once she's made certain nothing is coming from down the hall to the noise that was just created.
She suddenly has an idea.
"Olik, can you illuminate a copper coin and throw it to me. I would like something I can kick down the hall, give me a few seconds to react before being potentially bumrushed."

With Jirani's help Olik gets back out of the pit with no issue.
Not this place is pretty well illuminated from the braziers.
Tamarie Yangrit
|
Tamarie walks back to the group.
"Come ahead guys. There is a big room here with a long rectangular pool and braziers, and stairs at the end. There's even some kind of sphinx thing, but I'm not sure."
She looks at everyone standing on the opposite side, and adds: "Do you need me to hold a rope or something?"
Jirani Kafr Abdu
|
Jirani tosses one end of his rope over to Tamarie. "See if you can find someplace to tie this for extra security."
As Tamarie looks for a sconce or something to secure the rope, Jirani walks around the edge of the pit to her side. He nods back to the pit room with a smile and a chuckle, "There's an edge we could walk around safely. No need for acrobatics." He takes the rope back from Tam and finishes coiling it up, before joining the in the pool room.
Jirani Kafr Abdu
|
Jirani holds the other end of the rope while Salador rounds the pit. Afterward, looking into the pool room. "Impressive. Watch out for more traps."
He pulls out and loads his sling and begins slowly making his way down the left side of the pool, searching for traps all along.

Tamarie shudders as she sees the undead creatures. She looks at Olik to check if he has seen them.
He then turns to Malik, and says to both of them.
"Whatever happens, I do not turn out that way, yes?" befor stepping forward, drawing her arrow and waiting for the others to get into a good position.
Tamarie targets the one in the lower right position, unless it died in the meantime.

Malik advances, drawing his Morningstar as he goes. "Undead! I will use my powers to banish them..." he says, but for the moment stands and holds his weapon at the ready should one of the Skeletons advance on him.

Move action- move up / Standard throw bomb bottom right skeleton
Why is it that we always seem to get into trouble. Why can we not have some easy task to complete
Salador chuckles as he moves up throwing a bomb.

Jirani launches a stone at one but it clinks against the stone balcony not even getting close. Olik moves up, starting to sing one of his inspiring songs as Malik moves up ready to attack. Sal moves up closer tossing a bomb that detonates on the skeleton blowing it's bones all over the place.
Ref: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
The parts of the first skeleton blast into the second shattering it as well. Tam takes a shot at one of the higher ones, the arrow hits it square in the head taking it off from the body as it collapses to the ground. The other skeleton pulls out a bow and begins to fire.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
The arrow clanks against the steps as it misses its target.

Tamarie Yangrit

Tamarie moves to where she can get the clearest shot possible. The sight of the creature actually managing to wield a weapon like a bow startles her, as she feels this could have been someone she knew personally.
Good thing he couldn't shoot straight, even back then.
Don't know if the edges of the stairs/walkways will give it cover, I'll leave that up to the gm.
Atk: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 1 + 1 = 12>>1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 = 5

Will someone just bash that things skull in already
Salador looks as if he is becoming bored.
I mean I haven't even been hit yet
Laughing Salador encourages the rest of the party.

Everyone moves up almost upon the undead. Tam takes a shot but it hits the balcony not even getting close to the target. The remaining skeleton takes another shot at the closest target.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
The arrow flies true and strikes Olik.

Cursing in Ulfen Olik advances, drawing a morning star as he goes, and strikes at the creature.

Bringing his song to an end Olik reaches up and snaps off the arrow jutting from his shoulder.
"First goblins then the dead. This place is not nearly as abandoned as I'd thought it would be. Shall we see what they were guarding?"
Tamarie Yangrit
|
"Gladly!" Tamarie replies as she releases some of the tension from her bowstring.
"Jirani, want to lead the way with that pigsticker of yours?" she adds jokingly.
Malik Jiri
|
Malik draws his wand of healing and approaches Olik. He attempts to remove the arrowhead and heal his wounds.
Wand of CLW 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
"Let us get to the bottom of this." Malik says, nodding.
Jirani Kafr Abdu
|
"Yes, but let's see if these fellows have anything worthwhile on them." Jirani goes back to collect his sling. If no one else has begun searching the skeletons, he'll search them. T10 Perception = 17
Olik Vogenson
|
"Thank you." Olik responds as his wound knits. After a moment he tests his shoulder by moving his arm around and making a few test swings with his sword.
Finally he grins at Malik and says, "Ah, good as new!"
| GM Dak |
Getting to the top of the stairs a short hallway enters into a larger room. A terrible stone idol stands on a small dais in the center of this crossshaped chamber. The idol depicts a demonic being with a birdlike head and writhing serpents for legs; the eyes are fiery orange gems. Ornamental pillars surround the chamber, and an open archway leads from this chamber to the west. There are braziers burning in the room though an eerie soundlessness enwraps the entire chamber.
Map update later.
Jirani Kafr Abdu
|
Seeing Tamarie begin searching the skeletons, Jirani takes his time returning with his sling. He stops at a few blue tiles along the pool that caught his eye. He pulls out his crowbar and begins carefully pulling them up. "These might fetch a good price when we return to civilization. Real civilization, not Thornkeep."
Sense motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
"You're joking about the muffins. I guess the regret makes sense, though. If you didn't build a shrine to him..."
(I'm dropping your roll by 5 for being unlikely, at least the muffin part! :)
Jirani Kafr Abdu

How big is the idol?
Jirani takes a closer look at the statue of Hexopopoketl, paying particular attention to the eyes. "Think it's a goblin god? I tell you, I may regret it if we leave these gems behind."

"Muffins eh? As a child I recall a friend of mine regretting very much eating two dozen of the local bakers muffins. Both from the eating and the beating he got once the baker found out who'd run off with them!" the Ulfen says with a laugh.
When Jirani begins prying at the eyes Olik draws his sword. Whispering to those near him he says, "Whoever this demon is I can't imagine his followers are going to much care for this."
