I don't believe anyone is yet Szacha. My recommendation would be to give it to Johan however.

![]() |

Johan has a Resist Energy spell memorized that will last 40 minutes. But while he has a shot he feels like he should take it. Bless would be great and even continued use of Guidance would help. And if I am the only archer/ranged person then a use of that Cat's Grace Wand will add +1 to hit.
I fear that any short term spells we put up can be thwarted by the whisp running away for the duration.

Martok, Dwarf Flame Shaman |

GM: I hope you have something planned because if diplomacy won't work and we only hit on a natural 20, this is going to be one long, drawn out fight, which in PBP could take weeks of real time. :(

GM Captain Trips |

I'm hoping someone will put on their thinking cap and put one and one together. There is an answer to this encounter, but it hasn't dawned on anyone yet. I can't solve your problems for you however :)
And the reason its not attacking is because its natural defenses have been foiled. If it could attack normally it wouldn't be flying around waiting. That glitterdust caused it to go into turtle mode until the spell fades.

First, I am back. Had to help my daughter move. Long car ride up to Indiana and back. Expected I could post but her new place had no internet yet. Installation tomorrow.
Second, while its only been a few days for the PCs its been months for us. We were given the lantern but I thought we had to kill the wisp to power it.

Martok, Dwarf Flame Shaman |

I fear you failed the concentration check though. Should be a 21 for a first level spell, right? Or was that for riding?
It was for casting while mounted, which I'm not even sure I needed to roll because the mount wasn't moving. That is I cast and then the mount moved (or not) since you're controlling the mount.

![]() |

At most he is 5' stepping just so I can get a cleaner shot. I was not sure if there was any cover between Johan who was tall from being mounted and the tall giant.

Corentin the Younger |

Is it reasonable for Corentin to have stood up last round? He would have been tripped during his move and had a standard left. Granted if he's got another AoO he could have used it will provoke. I know he AoO'ed Sasha after so if it throws things off too much just let me know.

![]() |

Unless he can see in the fog the AOOs should not be a problem any more as I am pretty sure concealment negates AOOs, right? Man, there are too many rules to keep up with.

GM Captain Trips |

Wanted to let everyone know that I will be running a convention this weekend in Ohio, and after noon today I will be away from the boards. Hopefully we will find out before then what Giz has summoned so I can post an update before I take off for the weekend. I'll be back on Monday for our regularly scheduled beatdown. :)

Corentin the Younger |

Sasha rolls to her feet and wipes a line of blood from her nose. "Now we have a quarrrel," she mutters, striking back.
Sasha is now my hero :)

GM Captain Trips |

Sorry all, was busy preparing for an audit yesterday at work and more of the same for the next couple days. When I tried to make an update last night I kept getting errors from the Paizo site. My updates until late next week will either come pretty early in the morning or later in the afternoon.

Corentin the Younger |

It would be a nice time to use tactician but in this case I don't see it being too useful as I'd be sharing Distracting Charge and I don't think we'll be charging :(

Corentin the Younger |

Charge off the bridge! It will be awesome! :)
Just give me a target :)
I assume the rotted vegetation makes for a soft landing.

Martok, Dwarf Flame Shaman |

I will out for a few days on vacation with very limited internet access. My last post will be tomorrow morning and I won't be back and posting until late Monday night (April 4th).
Feel free to use Martok as best suits the story. :)

Gizsmith Glitterbyte |

Pretty much ready whenever.
Giz is mostly magically depleted at the moment, so don't expect much help from his corner.

Corentin the Younger |

Hi guys,
Our dear Captain Trips asked me to let you know he's offsite today and won't be able to post. Hopefully be back in action soon.

GM Captain Trips |

Sorry for the delay folks. Nightmare at work yesterday pulled me away, and I was tied up this morning picking up the pieces.
On a side note, I received a message from Martok's player stating that he was dropping the game on account of the speed of play. Unfortunately my work schedule has kept me limited to about one post per day, so most of that is my fault. If anyone else is becoming bored with the slow pace by all means let me know. Sadly this is a hobby for me, not a profession, and I can only manage so much when dealing with everything else life throws my way.
And with that, onward!

![]() |

That is sad to hear. Yes the game has slowed some. But we blasted through that first book at a rate seldom seen on these boards. He should have stuck it out I think. And after deciding to leave he certainly should have posted here to tell us himself.

Sasha the Mouse |

Very sad news about Martok. Hate to see anyone go, but some people just don't realize that PbP is inherently slower that RL.

Martok, Dwarf Flame Shaman |

Hey guys,
I didn't post here NOT because I didn't care but because I know that the GM has the most invested in the game.
That being said, I was very polite (I hope it came that way) and was not derogatory to the GM, or the game, or any of its players.
I understand that this is a hobby and no one is under the obligation to cater to my needs.
That being said, an enjoyable game pacing is different for everyone and I respect that.
I was under the understanding that this was a 1 post per day game and that has not been the case. There were 6 players plus the GM; we did not average 49 posts per week.
Again, I didn't mean to offend anyone.
Happy gaming!
PS: it goes without saying that you may do with Martok as best suits the story.

No offense taken here. I completely understand the desire for a faster game. In a different time I would have had the exact same issues you are having, so I get it. Sadly my work projects come and go in spurts, and the past quarter has been a hectic one, as it usually is for me at the start of a new year. New budget money means tons of new projects and less time to be online to keep up with posts. Usually around mid-summer things slow down and I start to haunt the boards several hours a day until the end of the year, at which point I start getting impatient with the players who are slower to post :)
I will say that for the most part we have all kept to the post per day rule. As I always make sure to be clear, I almost never post on the weekends. I have too much going on to be a slave to the boards on my time off. While there are always exceptions, namely conventions and work issues, I think everyone keeps a pretty good schedule for posting.
The toughest part is, some players post fast, some slow, and you usually wind up with both types in any given game. I can't alienate one type of player by constantly botting them around to satisfy the others, and I can't speed up play for the quick posters without doing that to the slow ones. So its a catch 22. As a GM I have to walk that fine line of balance, trying to keep everyone has happy with the speed as I can.

Sasha the Mouse |

I'll admit that I can be a little slow sometimes. The best laid plans... My life, now that I am retired, has become more hectic than it ever was while I was working. Most days, I'm out of the house doing something or other, especially on weekends. Thus. I try to keep pace (and I'm running four games of my own) but sometimes I just need a break for a day.

Szacha the Fiddler |
Well, sorry to see you go Mortak.
Now let's move on. The main issue remains healing... Skalds don't do it so very well, until level 10 at least.
Instead of recruiting, which takes time, another possibility is that one of us tweaks his character to turn it into something of a healer. I don't mind looking into this for Szacha, depending what GM Captain Trips prefer.
For Szacha, keeping the same character, but with a different class build, I could see evangelist cleric, oracle, healing bard, inquisitor...
Unrelated, the new Ultimate Intrigue has a bold schemer archetype for the skald. I would like to look into it, should we choose not to change Szacha.
Edit: If I remember correctly, there were other good applications for the role of healer when Martok was recruited...

Gizsmith Glitterbyte |

Szacha could just start taking oracle levels, instead of a full rebuild. We still have the magic items to get by without a healer, in the short term.
Oooo.... If the GM approved the archivist class from Heroes of Horror(3.5) Giz could cast divine spells with INT and then go Mystic Thurge. All the spells, all the time! (Best Idea Ever)

Walter das Sombras |

Is it "Catch twenty-two" or "catch two two"? (Yes, I've never heard that expression before)
In case you are not reopening recruitment Jaghal is available, as I mentioned before. Of course, I know I've let you down before, but those things don't usually happen to me. I'll understand if you'd rather hire someone else for the job ^_^

![]() |

My vote would be to welcome Jaghal back, with the commitment from the player to let us know before dropping out again. Life happens and we all will understand.

Corentin the Younger |

I'd be happy to see the mighty self-deified powerhouse in a little package return to the fold :)

Gizsmith Glitterbyte |

....but mystic thurge Giz....
Seriously though, Jaghal was a solid character.
