That is how we have always played it too. Medium range. Line of sight and line of effect required. Standard action. Usually the oracle will link who he wants linked in the morning since dropping any and all of them links is a free action that can happen before incoming damage happens.
The spell can then work almost as a status spell. If someone gets hurt you will know shortly when damage comes your way.

I am back. We had a training day yesterday because of the bank holiday, so I'm just now getting back into the office and getting settled.

Perhaps a silly question but does the boat have a name? I could have Cor ask but I figure by this point our characters would know it.
Actually it doesn't, which is strange for a boat. It's simply referred to as Bloodtusk's Keelboat in the AP.
I'm making ready for a holiday. I will be gone to Walt Disney World from Nov 10 through Nov 18 and will not have access during this time (okay, more correctly, I will have access, but do not intend to check in). If you are playing in one of my games, please excuse the untimely delay. I will have a gameplay post up today after lunch, but I wanted to make everyone aware that starting tomorrow I will be out for the rest of the week and will be attending a convention this weekend. Because of that I cannot be sure I will have time to post any updates. My plan is to try and check in once or twice during my trip, but I cannot be sure how my schedule will pan out.

Just to echo Corentin's in character comment, we should see if we can come up with a way of getting ahead of our mystery attacker. They're either on the ship or close enough to be able to access it fairly easily. The ship isn't a big place and there's only 10 or so crew so there should be some way of narrowing it down. (detect magic scans, setup a watch, etc). The lock was taken so it may be somewhere (perhaps thrown in the river), not sure if that sheep was regular feeding or now (we should talk with the guy who the rowers say feeds him), the rail was cut with something so perhaps we could track that down.
Just some thoughts.
I would follow both of them, but Jaghal is not the best option to sneak in someone's quarters to find stuff. Plus, if we all sleep in the same place that means it would be easy to incriminate someone else. I say we go with the obvious and question this guy who was seen there.
We can easily scan the entire ship for magical auras.
I'm not entirely sold on the idea that is a member of the crew. Though Svasha and Giz took the worst of it, the acts of sabotage could easily have resulted in the deaths of the crew.
I don't think it's a crew member either, or at least don't think it's likely as there was a lot of potential for collateral damage and the captain trusts them. Also since they've all been onboard for some time they'd have to just happen to have been affiliated with the Twisted Heart and connected enough to know about our mission. It's possible but again seems unlikely.
There's always the possibility for coercion of course (magical or mundane). Whomever it is would have to have gotten word of our plans and acted pretty quickly. It could be that they followed us from Trunau or were alerted by someone there but in either case it's a pretty tight timeframe as we left within a few days of getting our orders.
I'm back from my convention weekend and should be posting something today. I'm a bit buried with catching up with work emails and meetings, so please hang in there till I have time to get a post up.

No worries, this time of year is usually a slow time for pbp games because there is so much going on with everyone. We will move forward as best we can, but I totally understand folks being busy. I'm guilty of that as well! :)

With the onset of the Christmas season, my life just became undeniably hectic (or rather, moreso). Until January, almost every day on my schedule is filled. While I will try to check in at least once a day, my posting rate during this time is not guaranteed to be regular.
If you are in a game I am running, please be patient and I will try to keep somewhat regular.
If I am in your game, I will try to check in daily when possible. If I am slowing things up, please bot me as necessary.
Remember where I said earlier that my life was getting more hectic? Well, I'm at a convention this weekend and will likely not be available Friday through Sunday.
Guys, sorry for my absence Friday and Monday, things are coming to a head here with our new branch that is opening tomorrow and I've been under the gun to get all of the last minute testing and changes completed on time.
As an aside, with the rest of my week consisting of working remotely, and then the following week being a holiday for most folks, I want to put my games on pause until the holiday season shakes out. I will have the usual family commitments to deal with as well as an odd work schedule over the two holidays. We have several other folks who have been mostly away due to the season, so I think this will work out best for everyone.
So as of now, we are on PbP break until Jan 4th, when we will fire everything back up. Hopefully that works for everyone and I appreciate your understanding.

I agree. The past few months have been a pain in my rump at work and they have killed my usual ability to post several times a day. The good news is that most of that vanishes as of 10am this morning when we cut the ribbon here and things are finally complete. I'll have a week or two of dealing with on off problems, but by the time the new year rolls around I should be back in my old routine. Fingers crossed!
