@Mohok: The penalty for forest terrain is -2 per 10 feet, so -25 after accounting for your height.
Completely missed that rule, though it makes sense. Wow, forests are complicated!
Mohok draws out his healing wand as he makes his way back to the ruined cathedral, glad they've managed to save one of their companions at least.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Puts him at 76/76 hp
He bows his head sadly by Vitruvian's side for a long moment, then lifts his eyes, a fierce gleam behind them, to the tower. "We've got some avenging to do yet," he says, "so we'd better get up there and make sure every harpy that ever visited this place is dead. Then we come back and get Zephyrus home."
Anyone got some protection from evil, in case the mama harpy is waiting for us up in the tower?

Pai has two PFE's left for the day in case they are needed.
"We could just go back and tell them that we took care of two of the harpies, but one escaped. That last one might not ever come back, you know. Then we gather The Physician and get him raised."

I'm healed up. Also casting Heightened Awareness for the +4 initiative when the next fight starts.

How about we assume everyone will heal, and can roll for it in their next post? That way DMBS can get us going up the stairs.
Mohok lays a meaty hand on his chest and mutters a few words in his bass voice, then says, "Okay, everyone ready? Let's get up there."
Cast barkskin.
Pai - do you mind putting a PfE on Mohok? I'd hate to have him sidelined for this fight.

![]() |

Pai uses one of her PFE spell's on Mohok.
Who wants the other one?
As the group starts heading up the stairs, Pai casts Invisibility Sphere, which should catch the whole group, if they walk close together. "Try to be quiet while we investigate. We might be able to sneak up on whatever else is up there."

How about we assume everyone will heal, and can roll for it in their next post? That way DMBS can get us going up the stairs.
This is the assumption.
You climb the stairs and boldly stride into the upper room as you find the belfry. The bell tower stands 30 feet high and it’s belfry is open to sky. An enormous iron bell hangs attached to a great moveable frame of stout wooden beams, controlled by a winch on the side. Three large nests composed of straw, shredded fabric, and furs rest near beams holding up a cracked dome.
The small flock of harpies makes this bell tower their home, choosing to nest in the open air. On the top floor of the tower, movement is a bit cramped and the squares where the nests sit act as difficult terrain. The roof long ago rotted away and so the belfry is open to the elements. There are six window-like openings in the walls surrounding the bell—each is empty and open to the elements.
In front of you stands a bold harpy, clad in full plate. She erupts into song, expecting you after the spells cast in the lower room to heal and buff. The falchion in her hand shines brilliantly but the razor-sharp edge is coated with dried blood.
All need to make a DC 20 Will save or be fascinated.

The opening of the door that gave the harpy the signal to start singing seems to pay off as The Physician falls under her sway and it looks like Pai might as well, though the harpy can't see that due to the hallway and the Invisibility spell, but the Physician strides up to the harpy and patiently stares at her in rapt attention leaving the bubble.

@DM, My plan was to Fly at ground level, but because I move so fast, but need to stay within about 50ft of my Summon Monster Hound Archon, I am purposefully trying to not move too far.

Based on reading and re-reading my Protection from Evil versus the entry for a harpy, the spell should shield me from this. I can roll if needed, though.

@Kryssa: Protection from Evil doesn't protect from a fascinate effect in my opinion or that of some other prominent PbPers. The FAQ released states that the creature must be able to 'exercise control' over the target. The harpy isn't controlling your actions like a Dominate or Command spell would, so is just so beguiling beautiful at singing that you inherently follow her around in rapt attention. There is a mind-affecting aspect, but the ability seems closer to Confusion or Sleep than to the prior listed spells. This is the case to me because you can also have fascinate effects from non-enchantment spells, like Hypnotic Pattern.
@Pai: Ah, I think I pulled up the Reply part before you refreshed with the reroll, yes?
Pai uses her Pathfinder luck to break the spell of the harpy over her as the creature continues to serenade the party, but still can only see the Physician after he moved from Pai's illusory sphere.

I never knew that about the casting time. That's fine though, as that's what I've got. Hopefully the other three can beat up the harpy while I keep Ole doc from dying.

Please update the map guys.
Kryssa, Yanos and Pai gather low level magic to aid themselves as Mohok decides to take the harpy by the feather, smashing into her with his falchion. She scowls as you draws blood, but returns with three blows of her own.

@Mohok: Unless you have some way to add your Buckler AC while using a two-handed weapon, then your AC is 27, I believe. "You can also use your shield arm to wield a weapon (whether you are using an offhand weapon or using your off hand to help wield a two-handed weapon), but you take a –1 penalty on attack rolls while doing so. This penalty stacks with those that may apply for fighting with your off hand and for fighting with two weapons. In any case, if you use a weapon in your off hand, you lose the buckler’s Armor Class bonus until your next turn."

Kryssa lands a crucial blow as she heavily wounds the harpy, causing its voice to falter while Mohok takes advantage of this, barely striking the winged woman due to the distraction of Kryssa.

The Doctor's body is gathered as the Physician is returned back to good health by Pai.
