As Eraith expertly slices and dices the Ghoul to it's demise, Rogar moves around the side, however his clunky armory disables him to get into a good position causing him to hold his ground and ready an attack should a ghoul approach him, which one does and he easily slices in half with his brute force. 4 festrogs remaining.

(Should we have rolled initiative? I didn't submit Kaspar's round 1 action, maybe I could have acted before the enemies. Either way, my ghouls act on their own initiative count, i.e. with the enemies. If that came before my initiative count, then I suppose they delay until they hear orders from me.)
"Ghouls! Kill every festrog in here! Do not touch or harm the non-festrogs!" commands Kaspar, leader of the three ghouls. His old voice is confident. He's done this before.
Kaspar then uses his wand on one of the festrogs pestering Seren.

Before the ghouls and festrogs even get to attack, the creatures are all dropped by the pathfinders expert fighting skills. Seren drops one festrog and badly injures the other, while Caladrel then comes in with the killing blow.
Out of combat
Where to now?
Just a refresher, what you know is there is a door further up, and a collapse chamber. To get through the rumble it requires extensive digging work, ~6 hours, with the tools that was provided by Benarry. If you choose to dig, Each character need to make a constitution check. There is a special advantage if anyone is a miner (profession)

![]() |

The moment the fight ends and Seren gains control of herself once more she has a very specific goal in mind. Her nonchalance over her bleeding bite wound fades, and she has to stifle the urge to cry out over the pain with a loud hissing. Despite covering the wound with a firm grip, rivulets of blood still run down to her fingers, and she turns a scrunched up expression towards Caladrel.
"We have a wand, fix this please? We really like my blood and it's getting everywhere." She blanches and continues to generally leak everywhere as she waits, muttering something to her shoulder about being useless, careless, and getting her hurt.

![]() |

Eraith grunts in the affirmative at Seren's words "Aye, I too would like some healing"
Turning his attention to the collapsed chamber, he gestures towards the pile of rubble "Kaspar, can you get your ghouls to clear that out?"

![]() |

It takes a brief moment for the necromancer to switch his attitude and mental state back to the normal, sage-like scholar that Kaspar is. His expression changes from the grinning lunatic to the serious and bitter face the party knows.
"Needless to say, Eraith. However, I estimate that three ghouls won't labor as hard as three men would. Short-term, yes, they are as stronger than many humans are. But they are motivated by hunger, and that," he points at the rubble, "looks time-consuming. Motivation is a key element."
"Regardless, they will labor because I say so."
(GM: So if we choose to dig (do we see an alternative?), does that mean six of us? Or do we have tools to allow more than six to dig?)
While the others are healing their wounds, Kaspar spends a short moment giving instructions to his ghouls. He introduces each of the party members ("Memorize their names and appearances."), establishes the forbidden actions ("You must not touch them, especially not with your claws or teeth."), adds a few fail-safes ("You will obey their commands, just like you would mine. However, my commands take priority over theirs. You may never harm me."), and finally, he introduces himself: "I am Kaspar Markov, a scholar of the undead, and the last true heir of the Markov family."
"Aren't intelligent undead just a lovable resource?"

![]() |

There is no other alternative through the rubble. Tools are enough for six persons only. But it may take longer if less people dig.

![]() |

Just to clarify, when you say a "door further up," that's a door separate from the rubble, right? That's what it looks like on the map. So we could either open the door or dig through the rubble.
Graxzos glares at the ghouls, blowing smoke from the end of his gun. "I don' trust 'em, magic or no. But if yer not gonna let me end 'em, they may 's well start diggin'. I'm sure the VC'll want a report on that chamber if possible."
He, meanwhile, looks over the strange, fleshy polyp in the room. "Any guesses what this mess'd be, Markov? I'm thinkin' we should investigate tha' chamber--" he points at the door, "--bu' I'm no' sure I want this weird thing at m'back!"

![]() |

(Let's try the option that doesn't take 6 hours, says I.)
"We will need all the help we can get, Graxzos, and you know that."
Kaspar looks at the pile. "That looks like a mound of pulsating flesh. Ghouls, what is this mass and how did it get here?"
(How do they answer, GM? Ghouls can speak, after all.)

Wand of CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Wand of CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
And fortunately it doesn't take much of the conversation for her get patched up, the muscle and skin of her arm as good as new. Not so much can be said for the sleeve or side of her travel gear, which is now smeared with the brownish tinge of drying blood. She makes a vague effort to clean her hands by wiping them on the same part of her clothing that's already ruined and wanders over to the discussion. "We agree with dwarfy about checking the door first. Sitting here for hours on end digging with something waiting in hiding bothers us."
She gives the weird mass of flesh a long, pensive glare."We really don't want to get close enough to do anything to that, though. It's creepy, even by our standards. And Kaspar's."

![]() |

Door it is! I'll update soon.
The Ghouls look blankly at each other and in response to Kaspar reply in common tongue. "Flesh just appear, we kill, we eat." Indicating that adventurers or washed up sailors likely ended up here, in the masses over time.

![]() |

The door opens to a very large chamber. This large chamber has a relatively low ceiling. The far southwest wall is set at an angle, and against the center of the wall sits a heap of bones and skulls resembling a large makeshift throne. To the left of the throne sits an oak and brass sea chest, carved with images of sea serpents chasing their own tails.
Sitting on the throne is another undead creature, blue of skin, sharp teeth, long ears, much like a ghoul nut scarier. This one wears a couple necklaces of what looks to be pirate gear, even a bandana and hoop earrings. On it's feet two, festrogs look at you lot with hungry eyes.
The creature speaks,"Who be it that enter my chamber? Identify yourselves and your purpose."
Kn.15 to identify the creature.
You can continue the encounter as civic folk or choose to go into combat, if you do the latter, let me know so i can update the map for combat.

She'll step out more confidently, kicking her legs with every step and twirling one of her swords more like a baton than a real weapon. "So we like you undead sorts... most of us do, anyways." She gives a look to the paladin.
"See the thing is... I was talking to my friends, and we were talking to everybody else. And we were sent here for a particular piece of treasure." Her eyes flicker over the ghast's chest and back with a furtive glance and nervous laugh. "Y'see, probably not that, we're just after this orb thing that will let us come and go from the spires when we need to... so we can explore! So we really don't want to bother you. But if you could maybe tell us where that orb is, and let us sort of explore the place a bit now and then... maybe we could do you a favor? The ghoul listens intently to Seren and licks his mouth at the words bodies, his eyes widen as well somewhere throughout the conversation. He pauses for a moment to consider the offer.
"That soundssss a mighty tempting, but that's not a bargain for a pirate like me." He clasp his bony and long claw like hands. "I tell you what, I'll make a deal with you, the bodies, one of you to leave behind as fresh meat and I'll leave you safe passage, and what is this orb you speak about? A description might help."
I'll still allow aid another for Seren's roll, it is 1 point away from improving his influence further
