"VILE ABOMINATIONS! Back to the grave with you!" Heiliger shouts as he moves into the room. He quickly steps to the north while drawing his greatsword to engage the (red) zombie. As he does so, he allows his holy power to envelope himself and two of his allies: Shef and Rook.
Shef and Rook were right behind me in the corridor, so if they don't act quickly, they might well get boxed in by these horrid things.
Heiliger, Shef, and Rook now have DR 1/-. It lasts until the end of this combat. See his character page under Special Abilities if anyone has questions about Bestow Hope.
Upon reaching the (red) zombie, he swings his sword in a mighty arc, but at the last moment his grip shifts ever so slightly, and his attack goes wide.

I'm assuming a 9 misses even their flat-footed AC.

Heiliger nearly bisects the zombie, but the foul magic that animates it keeps it moving for now. The skeleton dodges Shef's bash while Avelbane, Khoda, and Lukas team up on the other zombie, but its soft rotten flesh just absorbs all of the stabs without any apparent effect.

The skeleton avoids the brunt of Gribbl's flames, but the zombie is not so fortunate. The scorched undead swings at Khoda, then collapses into a charred pile of rotten flesh, filling the cave with a horrible odor. The remaining zombie bashes Heiliger in the chest, leaving a bit of a bruise.

Shef tries bashing the skeleton once again with his shield. Putting all the force he is capable of into the blow... and missing him completely. With so much force behind the swing and nothing to take the impact Shef spins completely around until facing the skeleton once again. Just in time to see the skeleton begin cackling uncontrollably.

Heiliger moves amongst his friends, checking to see who else is injured before approaching Avelbane and Khoda.
Scratching Khoda lightly behind the ears, he asks Avelbane, "Do you think you could use the wand from Janira's pack that Gribbl gave you earlier? Rook is still injured, as am I, and you as well if I'm not mistaken. I'd hate to run into more of these, or something worse, and not be at our best."

"I can go without that shield if someone else would like to use it. I'll stick with what I got." He taps his shield lightly. "Once we are healed up we should get a move on, no telling what else is down here."

"I'm ready to move on... after everyone is healed up of course." Heiliger - as a paladin, you could use the wand too for whoever needs it... just saying.
"I can do some magical healing, but there are those who wouldn't want the kind I do... I'm sure you're among them, Heiliger... but others may not be so picky. The offer is there."

"When the time comes for healing I'm not picky at all my froggy friend. Try and be more careful next time Rook. Keep beside me and I'll take the hits. Are we ready to continue on then?" He grabs his pack and starts looking for another tunnel to proceed down into.

As the healing energy of the wand's spell washes over him, Heiliger takes a deep breath and feels the injury to his chest vanish.
"Thank you so much, Avelbane," he says, twisting his torso a couple times to work out the last residual stiffness. "Are not Druids constrained to using only shields made of wood? Perhaps you could make the best use of this one we've found." And with that, he picks up the new found shield and presents it to her.
"Well done friends, we've cleansed this tunnel of its evil filth. Onward and let us purge the western tunnel now."

As you trek back to the main cavern, you pass Uori still kneeling in the pool. The gillman takes no notice of you passing by, and you head into the other tunnel he pointed out.
This tunnel has a number of branching passages, but a quick look shows that most of them loop back around or are blocked off by cave-ins. Following the clearest path, the persistent glow of the bluish fungi dimly lights the way deeper below the Kortos Mounts. The tunnels broaden to reveal a shallow river that bisects an immense tunnel stretching to the north and south. To the east a small passage exits the chamber at a steep incline. A pair of kobolds are busy checking out the passage as you approach.

"I hope this works. These guys don't look all that friendly though." He says back to the group from behind his shield.

Heiliger swiftly extends his holy protection to Rook and Khoda, then moves forward to the edge of the underground stream, while drawing one of his two unusual javelins. Reaching the stream, he takes a moment to concentrate on the nearer of the two small creatures, sensing whether it is evil.
Since he speaks Draconic also (Paladin of the Dragon-Slayer god!), he understands that his friends are attempting to parlay with these creatures, and adds in that tongue, "Aye, little ones, we've no intent to harm you."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
The javelin is an ammentum, which is a javelin wrapped in a leather strap, which when thrown provides some spin, increasing its range to 50' but making it a martial weapon.
He can Detect Evil on one creature as a move action.
Rook and Khoda and Heiliger have DR 1/-. Shef didn't seem to need it last time....
