Be glad it is a young winter wolf. A real winter wolf is large sized and a CR 5 monster...
That's what I was afraid Jamir had locked us into with his early attack...

![]() |

I guess we are ignoring Torvald's request to give him room to throw the bomb? Probably appropriate, although some fire would probably be pretty effective.
GM, is it possible for me to drag Craggark away from the wolf before using Rebuke Death?
BTW: Not that it matters in this fight, but I'm not sure Craggark would have been prone.
Orc Ferocity: Once per day, when a half-orc is brought below 0 hit points but not killed, he can fight on for one
more round as if disabled. At the end of his next turn, unless brought to above 0 hit points, he immediately
falls unconscious and begins dying.
That makes it sound like he simply keeps fighting for one more round, not that he stands back up. Maybe I am misreading.
Obviously my suggestion of a Withdrawl wouldn't have worked though, since he was disabled.

FYI I will not post again until all the attacks of opportunity have been posted and Torvald's readied attack is resolved. There is too much at stake and I won't roll attacks for a player unless specifically asked to bot. no need to over complicate this. 3 of you get an attack with your melee weapon and Torvald gets to throw his bomb. It does not matter which order you post..just make the attack as soon as you can please. The following people have AoO's against Rigory or readied action.
1. Jawhar AoO: gauntlet +5 to hit 1d3+3dmg. ( +2 str. +2 flank, +1 Bard song)
2. Jamir AoO: Rapier +9(+11 if he uses tactician trait) to hit 1d4+1dmg(+1 bab, +3 swashbucklers finesse, +1 size, +1 weapon focus,+1 bard song, +2 flank, +2 tactician(optional))
3. Tusk AoO: Great axe: +4 to hit 1d12+4dmg (bab+1, +2 str.,+1 bard song)
4. Torvald readied action: throw bomb: +6 to hit 1d6+6dmg (+2 dex, +1 firebug trait, +1 throw anything,+1 bard song, +1 point blank shot) Torvald you get extra dmg. from both the bard song and point blank shot for a total of 1d6+6..and remember you're only going after touch AC!

Our dice are still trying to kill us, I see.
Ya think?

![]() |

Also, Torvald, I don't know what the splash damage is from your bomb, but I bet it's less than the breath weapon does.

For those of you keeping score at home, our last three 1d20 rolls have been 4,5, and 7.

the bomb hit so no worries bout' a miss will wait for tusk until tomorrow afternoon but hint hint..looks like you'll win this fight no one dead

couple things at the end of the adventure there's some interesting "behind the curtain" things about Rigory you may be interested in..If you are interested, remind me after the adventure is over and I'll let ya'll know.
Other thing is..I'm not going to draw out or cut and paste a map for Nadlak's point, unless there's a combat sequence and even then, I might just limit it to theater of the mind. This is primarily how we played it when I was a kid (red box , 1st edition, ya know the good old days :), We usually mapped a dungeon as we explored with graph paper believe it or not! (and it was hecka fun!)

I thought the box (for the Basic set) was light blue back in the day. Or am I mixing that up with the book itself?

But your link has the blue cover I remember - right over the caption "D&D Basic Set 1st Edition Original Box" - it has a red dragon facing a magic-user and a fighter. That's the version I started with, when I was 10 or 11. The red box is further down, and labeled "D&D Basic Set 3rd Edition, the classic 'Red Box' edition" and oh good god the problem is that I am frakking older than all of you.

"Classic red box" = "Paul McCartney's old band, you know, The Wings."

![]() |

"THE Wings????"
I believe misnaming the band was part of the joke about dumb kids who don't even know about the Beatles.
Well, I have to admit, Jamir. I played with the 3rd edition originally when I was about 10, so, even though I am pretty old it looks like you got me beat by about 10 years. ;)

And yes, I am 87% certain that the Wings line is from WHEN HARRY MET SALLY.

To be frank, I don't remember what color the box was. My Mom bought it for me in a B-Dalton books store. I remember later that day we saw "Conan the Barbarian" and she covered my eyes during the sex scene. Pretty sure that was the summer of 82' I started playing D&D with my brother and some neighbor kids that same summer. I was 14..side note: later that summer, was also the first time I kissed a girl..her breath tasted like "Big Red" pretty good summer all-in-all ..

May I just say what a pleasure it is that this PBP continues even on weekends? It seems like most PBP players/GMs go on weekend-long camping trips every weekend that I'm not invited too...

lucklesshero |

that's cause I'm studying for finals like a good 48 year old school boy ..LOL the camping trips come this summer Torvald and you're invited! Don't forget to bring some of that good German beer!

Speaking of, they changed the "beer purity" laws a year or two back so now the local brew market here is flourishing. What a time to be alive.

I have only played in one other PbP game, but that was definitely my experience - not even announced plans, just complete silence for half the group from Friday afternoon until Monday morning on many weekends. I'm playing another scenario with the same group again - part 2 of a two-part scenario - and I have some hope that it will have fewer pauses this time around as we have gotten to know each other better (albeit in character).

Don't sleep on the New Zealand beer scene as well. We get lots of credit for our wines, but I personally think our beer is even better. And if you ever get a chance to try a New Zealand whiskey.....yum!
So y'all are coming to New Zealand for camping, right? Alternately, you could come for this:

Craggark I don't know where you got you were only at 7hp I believe you probably missed this heal after multiple rebuke deaths and one channel by Jawhar...there simply was only one other fight the one with Rigory..Jawhar got you conscious up to 4hp and then..
Uliyara blows out a relived sigh as she watches the Winter wolf flee. She rushes to Jawhar's and Craggark's side and says, Here, let me see if I can help. Positive energy healing magic flows from her hands into Craggarck's body knitting his flesh. Cure lt.: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
However, if you still believe I'm in error you can walk around with 3hp..:) that's why I track all your stats HP and equipment via Herolab as I go..as long as I update it each time I post I don't have to worry about it..

FYI guys: I will only have time to post once or twice (per day) in the next two days (19th&20th). Also this adventure is on the final stretch. If you want a chronicle sheet for this adventure make sure I have your email address (PM me). Also, I am taking off one more ration from each of your characters as you have spent the whole day fighting and working in the wilderness..
Don't relax though...we aren't done yet..

What?!? A Pathfinder Society scenario with a final encounter just when the party, exhausted and nearly out of resources, is ready to call it a day? I am SHOCKED, I tell you!

The short answer is YES YES it does...:)

Cha-ching!
Hey, Tusk, achievement unlocked!

![]() |

We have to choose between Bluff and Diplomacy. Jamir has +3 to each, and is happy to aid - I think Jawhar has been our primary diplomat for good reason. If we decide to bluff, Jamir may be able to pull off "Feign Harmlessness" again, but mechanically I don't know that it will help the rest of the party. Perhaps our best tactic is to aid Jawhar in diplomacy checks, and tell the story of how we saved Uliyara from an undead dwarf hellbent on vengeance who targeted her BECAUSE she is a jadwiga - the rest of us could have stood by without any danger, and instead we risked paralysis, disease, injury, and death to save her. She can back us up on it - heck, we can show them the body - and that ought to be good enough (depending on the fickle electronic dice simulator) to get us through it.
Thoughts?

![]() |

Yes, that sounds like a fine plan.
I will be unlikely to have time to write a good post until tomorrow though.
If someone else wants to do so before I can get to it, I can assist.
Casting Touch of Glory would likely be a bad idea when we are already.

![]() |

I think Diplomacy is the tact that we have been relying most heavily upon this entire scenario, and likely the one we should continue to use. Count on my AA roll.
Are we not taking the dwarf's beard bangle? It likely would help us corroborate the story...plus it is a relic. "It belongs in a museum". I can see why we would not, however. Just discussing it.

![]() |

WRT the beard bangle, I thought Torvald or Tusk had it.
Jawhar, I agree that anything that looks like casting is probably a good idea. Since you've got the best modifier, the rest of us can post the RP for our aiding between now and when you're ready - it lets you close with the final roll, but I don't see any reason why we can't play it as the rest of us softening up the Irriseni before make the big sales pitch, and that will give the entire group time to participate before the result is a foregone conclusion.
I'll post mine later this afternoon.

![]() |

35 posts in a day in a half, plus 16 discussion, i have a lotta reading to do.
Yup - we're nearing the end.

It is in my pack. I am not sure if "we are taking valuable relics from a cavern in your realm" is the right approach to take unless we want them to confiscate it (which I most definitely do not want).

I agree - I only pointed to the shield because if it is noteworthy, it is not concealable, and if it isn't anything special, it doesn't matter if they take it.

![]() |

I count +6 on our Diplomacy aid another checks so far...go team!
Also, I believe that I wield Jawhar's old wooden shield. He's got the new (old) dwarven shield. Small thing, yes - especially since we're not letting on to the fact that we looted this stuff form the ruins anyway!

![]() |

With another +14 from Uliyara, that's +20, plus Jawhar's own modifier (+6, I think, for a total of +26). But we don't know what the DC of the check is, so if Faenethor and Tusk want to take a shot at aiding before Jawhar goes, it would not be wasted effort.

I think this adventure is now winding down. I have to say this was a lot of fun. FtF PFS groups (at least in my experience) seem to actively discourage role playing and some members actually get mad if you express frustration about that.
Thanks everyone for the fun adventure and thank you especially to lucklesshero for hosting.
I am still not sure how my early game attempt to avoid getting involved in a land war in Asia got construed as "I support slavery" other than the typical activist nonsense of "If you aren't on the front lines than you are against us".
Anyway, I'll definitely be looking forward to more PbP content in the future. This was my first ever PbP and I loved it. Need to make a couple of tweaks when to this character before another game though.
