I'd suggest having all day jobs rolled in discussion up front. Easier to collect now than later. Just make sure that you note them in a google doc so they're with all the other information you need to make Chronicle Sheets later.
BTW, nice RP everyone!

Posting Schedule
Reply to this thread if you have a scheduled event where you know there's a chance you may miss posting for a day or more. If nothing prohibiting you posting daily in the next few weeks; no need to reply.
As for me I'm back in school at 48; so I'll be posting various times of day and don't have anything scheduled (where I might not have access to internet for any length of time), in the next few weeks.
I know that Torvald Stonecask, is playing from Germany so he has already forewarned me that he will be posting at irregular times.
I really don't see much of an issue, as long as each player is posting 1-2/day (or more!).

Thanks GM Hmm,
We'll take her advise. Could everyone (who wants to), Please give me their day job checks in the discussion forum, before we begin play?

oh, right, he has a day job.
craft alchemy: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (20) = 25 assuming I didn't already roll it, don't remember doing so

Howdy y'all. No day job check. Needed the skill points for other stuff.
I'm posting from New Zealand, so my post times will be odd as well.
Cheers, y'all.

Posting from Chicago, so my post times will be totally normal for me, if not for the rest of you. I will generally be able to post first thing in the morning and late evening.

No profession here. Skill points are far too dear to spend on the hope of a few measly gold. :)

*sigh* watch me break the winning streak. Craft (Alchemy): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

BTW Torvald I believe it's perfectly PFS legal for alchemists to copy formulae from a wizard's spellbook? If there's a spell in my book you'd like (check out my profile), just let me know!
| lucklesshero |
The nature of this adventure won't allow for Torvald to have the quiet work space needed to copy multiple spells. However, I will allow a roll at the end of the adventure to copy 1 spell from Faenethor's spellbook into Torvald's formula book. (assuming you both survive the adventure tehe!)

Yay! And I'm the only class that get's to craft! Alchemist was a good decision :)

Correction
By the way, just read discussion. The time between Pathfinder adventures is deliberately very nebulous. They should be able to copy from each other's spellbooks all they want at the end of the adventure, so long as they have the gold and can make the spellcraft checks.
GM Hmm to the rescue! I'd like to thank her for, the discretion of PMing me about this. However, as I pointed out, "I don't claim to be an expert on the rules." I'm especially green on PFS rules. So GM Hmm, assuming you continue to check in on the progress of our game from time-2-time; I invite you to post your input directly on our discussion forum (even if that input is embarrassing to a certain GM!).
Therefore, in acquiescence to the more senior GM; Torvald may copy as many spells as he likes from Faenethor's book at the end of the adventure, so long as he meets the requirements GM Hmm mentioned above.
Also always remember: It is your privilege and sometimes duty to call me out on rulings that you think I may have erred. There's no problem just posting it on this discussion forum (unless you think it may effect another players feelings). As you can see, from the posted PM above, "I do have thick skin and don't mind being addressed (politely), when I'm wrong"

I didn't want to 'backseat" GM you, Hero! I just wanted you to be aware of PFS oddities. There's a lot of things that Organized Play has eschewed or handwaived.
Don't feel bad about not knowing every PFS or CRB rule; I certainly don't! The beauty of PbP is that you can look it up as you go!

Game-play clarifications
For the purposes of this adventure you have enough animal furs&skins to keep you and your supplies dry and warm While you're on the boat or camping on the shore during your trip upstream to Dalun. These extra furs and skins, are not intended to be part of your equipment. They are simply, too burdensome to pack with you, or to be of any use as environmental protection, while you travel overland.
As for rations assume: any time spent on the boat you consume the rations packed for you. Once you depart from the boat at Dalun, you may take one days rations (each) from the supplies; leaving the rest for the return trip back to Kalsgard. Any other rations you may want/need must be purchased by individual characters.
For simplicity sake the quarter master of the Pixie can sell them nearly any mundane or alchemical gear in addition to magic items worth 2,500gp or less.

Thanks - not sure how I managed it, but Jamir had only 1 day worth of rations (I thought he had a week). I sell my single flask of acid (half value = 5gp) and buy another 7 days of trail rations for a total of 8 days and an extra 1.5 gp burning a hole in my pocket.
Craggark
|
I'll purchase a sunrod (perfect for my candle lamp) for 2gp, a candlerod (same, but weaker - but lasts longer somehow) for 1gp, and 2 packets of alchemist's kindness (one of which I use just as I board the ship the following morning).
I'll (waste) 5gp at the bath-house, no matter who decides to come with me. That leaves me with 2gp, 8sp in my mitts.
Tusk Aran

A bathhouse in D&D, this must be Los Angelas. Sorry, couldn't resist.
Anyway, 4 trail rations is what I'm buying.
| lucklesshero |
Jamir your a 1st level(new) character so no need to sell your acid at 50% it was sold at 100% bought ur rations u now should have 7gp 2sp 1cp (let me know if this jives with ur book keeping)
Craggark lets assume your "entertainment fund" covered the night at the bath-house and the morning alchemist kindness .. (we'll leave the other on your charter sheet for flavor purposes, and who knows? maybe there'll be a PFS scenario that gives you a bonus on a diplomacy check or something if you just happen to have that substance)
I put the candlerod, sunrod, and 1 alchemist's kindness on your character. He should now have 8gp 8sp
Tusk 4 rations bought...with the other adjustments we made you're not at 29pp even..
let me know if I got anything wrong and we'll go over your inventory together.

Tovald purchased 6 days' of trail-rations, leaving him with 10gp remaining. He already has three acid flasks as back-up in case the fire-bombs don't work or run out. I think I'll just leave well enough alone for now.

Does the ship have tents for us to use during the journey? If not, perhaps we should join our money to purchase a couple?
Jawhar will sell an acid and purchase some Furs that should double for extra warmth at night.

I haven't calculated my recent gold/pp since I started making purchases in this one, so if you say I have X gold, I'll take your word for it. I also only plan to buy only mundane stuff here, so it's not like I'll run out.

your group has all these items available to them on the trip up-river with the boat.(in addition the 3 tents Haltani mentioned) If you'd like to sell your acid and purchase an extra winter blanket (or something else) for the overland trip let me know. Otherwise I'll assume your needs are already met.
amended: looking at your character sheet you've no need to sell an acid to purchase a winter blanket. Let me know if you still want to purchase one in light of the information above...| lucklesshero |

Gah! Winter blanket! Jamir buys a winter blanket!
My Reign of Winter party is just spamming Endure Elements, so I haven't spent a lot of time worrying about the effect of the cold.

I too have been lurking. Jamir's and Craggarks posts are massive for me to read, not to mention all the other posts I have to read. You ain't doing anything wrong, but it makes me want to skim through it just to get it done.

Heh. You'd run into the same issue in my games, too. I have some very chatty players who love detailed posts.
Different games develop their own different posting cultures. Some go for a tighter style of posting, others are more novel-like. As the action of the story picks up, I think you'll all find your happy medium.

Heh - sorry about that, Tusk! This is only my second PbP, and my first time ever playing a character with Charisma as a primary stat, so I'm still working out his behavior. But I promise you, HMM is right - once the action starts, Jamir's posts will get tighter. Certainly that has been the case with Garduk the Unteachable in my first game.
FWIW, I have a moment of cognitive dissonance every time I see you post, as Tusk is my main profile on the Paizo forum.
And thanks, HMM and lucklesshero - I'm having a blast so far!

I'm loving this group for an additional reason: I picked up and moved from the US to New Zealand about 3.5yrs ago for work. I've since permanently settled (i.e. married a native) in my adoptive country. Gaming here is much less common, and I often pine for the fair confines of my beloved former game store and gaming crew.
One of our cast members (they know who they are, and may identify themselves if they'd like) is one of my former gaming homies from my old store - so you can imagine how excited I was when they recognised me and sent a shout-out.
Gaming with my old PF lodge mates while living half a globe away: priceless
Thanks y'all.

Very pleased everyone seems to be enjoying the game so far. Tusk I'm pleased with your contribution but, I couldn't disagree more with you about the lengthy post. This is what role playing is about for me! I love that, not one combat encounter has happened and already people are exclaiming how much they enjoy this game.
That's not to take away from the old school "kick-in-the-door" style of play. In my home game I play with a guy in his 50's who is precisely that. He doesn't delve too deeply into his characters back-story and it's tough to get him to write anything in our shared adventure journal. Yet I enjoy his company. I enjoy that he gets something out of the game. For him it's mostly just an exercise in "fantasy aggression; if you will." He just wants to see how bad-a**, his character can be and yet, he is far from an optimizer.
Point is I celebrate all styles of play in my game. If you choose to skim some of the threads...I get it. It is kinda in congruence with your character (short, to the point, maxes out his best stats). To be fair I've no problem with your style of play. However, please don't discourage others from lengthy post unless they're absolutely arbitrary(and in the world of fantasy little is.)
I've sooo much enjoyed this so far! It's like reading one of those old style, "pick-your-own adventure" books; except you're not only choosing the path you're writing it! To all my players once again Bravo! and keep them post coming!

I met Craggark a few years ago, in a live PFS game, when I was brand new to RPG! I really didn't have a handle on the "role-playing" component then, but boy do I remember how funny his character was and how fun we was to play with. Set me off on the right foot. Very glad to have now "bumped" into him again!

Woo-hoo for coincidences!
Also, I would like to throw my virtual d20 into the microwave to punish it for the steady stream of single digit rolls that I've been suffering...at least I'm not the only one.

Speaking of location my character, that does remind, I've been wanting a book that talks about all the different locations of glorian. Not sure if that means buying all the pathfinder campaign settings or if there is a single book that does that. A location guide to glorian is certainly not in the core rule book, and since that is where pathfinder takes place it would be nice if that where the case. I do own the inner sea world guide, but I think that is only one continent out of all of Glorian.
Torvald Stonecask
|
The "Inner Sea World Guide" is definitely the go-to resource, pretty much everything Paizo puts out takes place in Avistan & northern Garund (only exception I can think of for adventures is the Jade Regent AP). I also recommend this MAP, it's super helpful!
Torvald Stonecask
|
There's also the Distant Shores book that has info about the other continents, but I don't own it so I can't speak to its detail or quality.
