Sclivian Ruttle, Esq. is, by profession, a karcist accountant. He maintains the books for nobles and concerned citizens in Korvosa. However, instead of maintaining ledgers of financial information, they contain the details of the interplay of contracts regarding the obligations, claims, and powers due on his client's souls. His records of deals inform the nobles how, precisely, they can deal with devils, and what they owe, and how to leverage these debts against each other. It is a very exacting, careful job, and one must be very careful with their dealings with Mr. Ruttle.

Sclivian Ruttle is skinny, much more used to a musty office than the field. He is often seen with a large number of esoteric wards and protective gear, mostly for show and advertising his skill as a solicitor than for actual use. He very often openly carries around an extra ledger, just to take notes of account.

Mr. Ruttle is a consummate bureaucrat. He is fully bought into the diabolist power structure, and does not, on the surface, wish for it to end. However, he recognizes that one must adjust with the times as necessary to survive. He personally looks for the strongest and most likely future power structure in play, and finds a way to align with the winner. A stickler for procedure, he would quote laws chapter and verse to assert his rights, and can call up a large number of obscure rules and regulations at the drop of a hat.

Mr. Ruttle has lived in Korvosa for the past five years, plying his trade to modest success. Looking for a better clientele, he has welcomed the opportunity to invite a cadre from Cheliax, hoping that performing well here will endear him with the Egorian elite... perhaps even House Thrune.
