Karim steps up next to Corwin, his hand straying to the hilt of his scimitar.
"My friend here tells the truth, you should speak plainly as to your reasons for being here. Take Sarenrae's healing touch as a turning point in your life and start to better yourself. Talk"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Maaarv gives Karim a quick nod of thanks for the healing. He doesn't get much time to revel in his expertly-thrown bomb, though. Maaarv turns his attention to the bound woman. Taking the cleric's lead, Maaarv tries to help convince the woman to talk.
"Yep, my compatriots and I would love to hear your version of these events. I mean, it doesn't look good for you, but who would want this done?"
Aid Another Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 1

DM Feral |

"Okay, okay, I'll talk", the woman says.
"Du Moire brought us with him to double-cross Lubor. We killed him and he grabbed Lubor's cache and took off down through the hatch over there. He's going to flee through the Underdocks so he can get to the Fang and get out to sea where he'll be untouchable."
"He left us here to cover for him if anyone came looking for him."

![]() |

So, do we follow... or race to the ship... I am fairly certain we can cover ground faster above ground then the tunnels below
I do want to catch them, murdering is never something i am fond of... Even if Lubor wasn't so innocent himself. But there might be other dangers in the tunnels, including traps.

ThEee tuNNelS... iTsSsss THe OnlY wAY..., pronounces M'grul in a voice that sounds like the mewling of innocents interdispersed with monstrous rumbles.

DM Feral |

You enter into a gloomy, greenish twilight where scattered beams of light filter down between weathered dock planks, bouncing off seaweed covered stones that jut from the dark harbor waters.
A forest of pylons suspends the docks above where the scurrying feet of merchants, sailors, and longshoremen hammer like a muffled thunderstorm. Between the pylons, you spot small stone bunkers, ruins of older siege forts now crumbling and weathered from centuries of angry waves. A narrow set of docks traverses the rocks, connecting various locations. Eventually, all lead out to the shallow bay at the mouth of the maze. Nearby, you notice a fresh trail of muck-limned, wet footprints.
The footprints lead to a small pier where a worn skiff is tied off. Looking around, it appears to be only vessel in sight. A pair of rough looking men in dingy leather armor stand guard.
"Hey! You don't belong down here. Get lost", one of them barks.

![]() |

As the conversation winds down, and it seems that pursuit through the tunnels is the course of action, Raoul begins to search the body of the thug that he blew apart. After discovering what he can, he moves on to searching the two captives.
"Don't mind me ma'am, just making sure you don't have anything that might be useful..."
Sorry for lack of posting today. A lady from my church congregation went missing yesterday and my wife and I spent most of the day canvasing the neighborhoods trying to locate her.

Everyting is aright. Men, we just gonna pass right thru and bother nuttin. Bo'alo reassures the men as he draws closers, reaching into his spell component pouch he grabs a pinch of sand, dusts his hands off and blows it in the direction of the guards.
Cast Sleep, DC 16 due to shadowing light.

DM Feral |

Unfortunately you're in plain sight but we can go into initiative.

Preception check to see if anything is lurking about, also what weapons do these guys have?
Preception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Im pretty stealthy, what would people's thoughts be if I scouted ahead in the future, we can go with this no problem... But might be nice to do so later?

DM Feral |

Sure enough, the two guards take aggressive action.
They draw bows and fire on the spellcaster.
Bow vs Bo'alo minus Cover: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 - 4 = 19

The destitute mwangi mage crumbles to the deck with arrows in his flesh.
The party (minus Bo'alo are up).

Maaarv, feeling emboldened by his previous work with his bombs, moves past his companions towards the ruffians. He veers to the left as he reaches the dock. (Move to K8)
"Listen, we tried to ask nicely..."
With that, he mixes up another Frost Bomb and throws it emphatically at the guard in front of him.
Frost Bomb Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

M'grul watches their rear, looking for an ambush, knowing that he can do little good trying to jam into the crowded tunnel.

The spell is a one round casting time. It started when he acted in initiative. He got dropped before he could finish it in the second round.
The wounded guard steps back and both fire again.

One of the guards whistles and a sea cat cub bursts from the water and clambers onto the deck.

It waddles towards Karim and swings a scary looking claw.

this is what I was wondering since the action was declared before initiative was rolled.

With the guards down, Maaarv tries to take down the seacat that took a swipe at Karim. He throws a Frost Bomb at the creature, hoping to stagger the seacat.
Frost Bomb vs. Touch: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
DC 14 Fort save or staggered for one round. Precise Bomb discovery allows Karim to avoid splash damage. 2/5 alchemist bombs left.

I thought that the brown squares are the docks/pier and the blue squares are water, so it would be a clear shot from where I'm at to get the seacat. The seacat climbed out of the water onto the deck. But maybe I misunderstood the description.

DM Feral |

Yeah, there was no surprise so there was no way you could start your spell before combat began.
Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Corwin's large blade takes a good chunk out of the young sea cat but it just grunts in pain and glares at the fighter. Maarv's bomb pelts it wounding it further but it doesn't go down.
Bo'alo is up.

DM Feral |

The guards are unconscious but a natural 1 will miss anything.
The sea cat claws and bites madly at the two-legged land creature that wounded so badly.

Drops back and calls forth the shadow to entangle his foe yet again.
Binding Darkness, ranged touch on guard currently in melee with someone.
1d20+1
You do realize you just used a spell like ability in melee range of a creature? Very likely to go face down again due to aoo. Also need to account for firing into melee (-4) when you use range touch attacks without precise shot. I don't think a -2 is going to hit anyway.

See the emphasis above. So no I did not use a spell like ability in melee range. It was worth a shot if it paid off, though unfortunately it did not.

you had nowhere to 'drop back' to, except off the dock. Guess it doesn't matter. Full attack on my part.
greatsword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

bite: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (11) - 2 = 9
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

DM Feral |

Yeah, I’m not super worried about it. Technically, after five foot stepping, Ba’olo is still threatened but the sea cat is much more worried about the man-thing that crit it for half of its health.
The two tieflings’s combined attacks hit the sea cat cub hard. It falls to the deck in a bloody heap.
Combat over.

Maaarv uses his spring-loaded wrist sheath to draw his wand of Cure Light Wounds. He immediately moves to Bo'alo, touching the wand to the mwangi's chest.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
He then touches the wand to his own chest a couple of times.
"Those guards were a little tougher than I expected. Thanks for knocking them out, M'grul - again." The alchemist smiles.
2 taps of CLW: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (6, 8) + 2 = 16
Maaarv turns to the rest of the party. "Does anyone else need healing?"
Edit: I just edited my character page to reflect the uses of CLW wand.
