Hey, Nohwear? Could you maybe fill in the environment a bit more? I see what you're doing, but I don't have a clear enough picture of where the the PCs are supposed to be to post. Are we in an auditorium? A lecture hall? Are there lots of other students present? Just a few? I don't need more than a couple of sentences, but I do need a little more to know what I should be doing.
Also, before I post anything, I want to be clear about something.
My character Jeff's initial thoughts regarding the other PCs might be pretty rude. Nothing worse than you'd see or hear in a PG-rated movie, but definitely judgmental enough to offend. My idea for his character arc is the old "starts out as a bit of a heel, turns out to have more going on than people think, ends up a trusted ally" one. Think Cordelia Chase from Buffy and Angel, or maybe Sawyer from Lost, and you'll get the general idea - though Jeff is more of an insincere sleaze than an outright jerkbag.
All that being said, if Jeff's unenlightened attitude ends up seriously bothering anyone, they should feel free to tell me, and I'll tone it down. While I welcome conflicts between Jeff and the other PCs, I don't want to hurt the feelings of the people portraying them, you know?

Hey GM,... As per Jen's note I've added the Danger sense edge to Mattie. More than happy if you'd prefer i change it to a different one though.
Also,... In RL i'm from Australia where for e.g. drinking laws are a bit different from the USA. In this kind of getting-to-know-you mixer in Australia there'd be drinks (e.g. drinking age is 18 here)... I'll follow others' leads on what university is like in the U.S.
Where is the GM, anyway? Dude(ette)'s been pretty quiet...

That'd be great. However, that still requires Nohwear to confirm or deny his/her ability to run it, which hasn't happened. I even PMed Nohwear about it three or four days ago and still haven't recieved a response. It's frustrating.
