| Dungeon Master S |
It's an atomie.
| Dungeon Master S |
Nivik's spell draws first blood as it slams into the creature, who responds with a vicious growl. The juxtaposition of the growl in such a high pitched voice is... odd. Still, there is no doubt that this combat is deadly.
The counter is on.... 54 seconds until the sun strikes the circle.
Next round, Mikhaere.

Posting early.
Obyrn dashes around the edge of the writhing weeds, gaining on the escaping quickling. "Fine talk, from one whose mother was a hamster sniveling weasel! Hit me, you ludicrous lout!"
Does it look like either of the fey are carrying the lorestone? I know my Perception check wasn't fantastic, but can I tell anything at all?
Also, it seems that we only have 2 humans in our party, haha.
Mikhaere
|
Yeah, where's the lorestone? That kind of impacts where I'll move to...
"Not a good idea to turn plants against a druid," Mikhaere growls at the pesky fey, although he has as much trouble as anyone moving through the overgrown area. He approaches the central pillar, keeping an eye out for the lorestone.
Double move
Reflex for next turn: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
How tall is the stone in the middle, 7 feet like the others?
| Dungeon Master S |
The Lorestone seems to be in the hands of the fey on the outside edge of the circle. The middle stone is roughly 7 feet as well.
| Dungeon Master S |
Initiative Repost:
Mikhaere: Scout
Obyrn: Scout
Baddies: Done
Rom: Spearchucker
Nivik: TBD
Khamul: TBD
Nivik Klist
|
Nivik will change targets, firing another Magic Missile but instead at the creature holding the Lorestone!
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Nivik will then move out of the entangled area by going back in the direction he came.
| Dungeon Master S |
That was my bad. The initiative repost is for the next round. It should read:
Mikhaere: TBD
Obyrn: TBD
Baddies: TBD
Rom: TBD
Nivik: TBD
Khamul: TBD

Still going to chase after the lorestone with a double move.
| Dungeon Master S |
Mikhaere and Obyrn move tactically to get to the enemy. Seeing their approach the fey counter. The quickling on the outside cradles the lorestone like a baby and bolts to the southeast. The one in the middle takes stock of the tengu coming and tries a spell. The words of magic flow over Mikhaere WILL: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23, but a ruffle of feathers is the only result. The atomie curses and draws a needle looking rapier. Khamul moves to get a better angle. Meanwhile Nivik takes an unerring shot at the quickling.
Mikhaere: Move
Obyrn: Move
Baddies: Various
Rom: Current
Nivik: MM
Khamul: reposition
Quickling: 3

On his upcoming turn, Obyrn continues his chase with a double move. I now threaten, like, all the squares.

I apologize, I was at a wedding this weekend. If I understand Entangled correctly, I can enter the area, if I make my save the area is considered rough terrain. I can move at half speed and act as normal, if I end in the area, I have to make a save again, correct. I will post my actions under this assumption in a spoiler and my actions if I'm not correct in another spoiler
Reflex Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 And he is entangled. Taking a -4 to his ranged attacks.
Still he attempts to throw the javelin wear he stands.
Attack Javelin: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (19) - 2 = 17
If that hits.
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Probably a miss lol
| Dungeon Master S |
Against the odds, Rom hurls a javelin at the tiny target. He watches the trajectory even as the vines close in on his legs. They make a straining noise as the constrict against his flexed muscle. The weapon finds its mark and literally bifurcates his target. The quickling at the circle's edge cries out in anger and frustration. Apparently he didn't expect a fatal shot.
Next round, Mikhaere is up.
Quickling: 3
Atomie: DEAD
No worries about the wedding. I wasn't around much either. Wrapping up my Serpent's Skull campaign prep and getting the next AP ready.
Mikhaere
|
Mikhaere shoots the fae in the centre an obscene gesture just moments before it gets turned into a tiny pincushion. He then continues to struggle his way out of the entangling grasses and vines towards the lorestone.

Obyrn moves for his turn as above, but I forgot to mention that he keeps up an endless stream of taunting at the quickling. "Running away, eh?"
| Dungeon Master S |
Round the Next update:
Mikhaere goes straight, which is the hard way, but he makes progress towards the quickling. Obyrn moves in an now has the creature in his sights. The quickling steps in and tries to stab Obyrn with a teeny tiny rapier. ATK: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26 and stabs the rogue. DMG: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2... unfortunately the rapier is coated in poison. FORT: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4. "Not running away, killing you good!" Obyrn gets very... very sleepy. And the rogue, unceremoniously falls asleep.
48 seconds remain...
DM mistake Nivik. The magic missile launched at this guy gets absorbed into his brooch. Sorry about that.
Mikhaere: Move
Obyrn: Move
Baddies: knocks Obyrn out.
Rom: TBD
Nivik: TBD
Khamul: TBD
Quickling: 0

Ouch. My Elven Immunities ("immune to magic sleep effects") don't help because it's poison rather than magic, right?
| Dungeon Master S |
Actually no they DO help!
The quickling grunts in frustration as Obyrn ignores the poison.
Nivik Klist
|
Hmm, tricky little pest, aren't you?
Nivik, seeing that he does not have a clear path to the enemy, elects to use one of the weapons of his race, the longbow, and takes aim.
Bow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8
| Dungeon Master S |
Nivik I don't suppose you have Cold Iron arrows? It's a solid hit, the question is how badly have you injured the fey?
Nivik Klist
|
I was going to automatically say 'yes' but then I looked and crap, no I don't. Seems I forgot to get those made for this guy (he is a wizard and not an archer, after all). At least Mike was good enough to tell me about the wonders of silver blanch and blunt arrows recently so in the future I'll be prepared. However, this guy currently has neither.
Khamûl Unqualë
|
Khamul mutters in frustration as he moves to a better position around the entangling plants.
Double moving. Again. Gah, I need some ranged options for this character.
| Dungeon Master S |
Well, you still hit, just not as solidly. Rom and through the end of the round.
Quickling: 3
Rom the Unchained

Rom attempts a strength check to break free of his entangled situation
Strength Check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Probably didn't get the job done.
Weaver, a Pathfinder
|
Where did the baddy move to attack me? I assume his rapier is not a reach weapon.
| Dungeon Master S |
5' step. Map is up to date. Rom gets stuck.
Mikhaere is back up. 42 seconds remain.
Mikhaere

DMS, what I'd like to do is somewhat odd. I want to use my sticky tongue ability to grab the lorestone rather than the fey. I'm not sure if this will work or not, but I'll leave it to you to adjudicate.
Mikhaere comes up around the corner of the entanglement, annoyance in his eyes. He opens his beak wide - almost unnaturally wide - and his tongue shoots out, like a sticky tendril seeking prey. It lashes out quick as a flash, attempting to snag the lorestone from the quickling's grasp.
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
If that hits, I can make a pull attempt.
Pull: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 3 + 1 = 23
Weaver, a Pathfinder
|
Obyrn takes a 5 foot step and lashes out with his longspear, feinting to the target's left:
Bluff: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
If that succeeds, target loses Dex bonus to AC against my next attack and I get sneak damage.
| Dungeon Master S |
That's an awesome idea, and I heartily encourage it, but that's nowhere near the touch AC. Sorry! Points for the creativity.
| Dungeon Master S |
Not liking the impending pincer between the tengu and half-elf the quickling BURSTS around the circle (this does draw from Mikhaere and Obyrn.)
Party is up.
Khamûl Unqualë
|
Finally I can reach him!
With the fey finally close enough, Khamul moves in with his scythe on high.
Mwk Scythe: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
damage: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1) + 3 = 5
Poo. This character has the worst luck.
Weaver, a Pathfinder
|
I'm assuming my feint was successful? Obyrn stabs after the fleeing fey:
AoO Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 Ugh, that's probably still not enough even without Dex.
Rom the Unchained
|
Huzzah!
Rom steps out of the brambles drawing his Masterwork Falchion preparing to strike on the fleeing fey.
"Where's the stone?" He shouts.
Weaver, a Pathfinder
|
Obyrn lets out a small sigh as the foe nimbly darts away. He glances at the wound on his shoulder before rushing after the fey. Double move.
Mikhaere
|
AoO - Trip: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Mikhaere tries to trip the quickling as it runs past, shooting out his still extended tongue and snagging it around the ankles.
This provokes an AoO from it in turn, but it may stop it from getting too far away from Obyrn and I.
If my trip attempt works:
Mikhaere will again attempt to grab the lorestone away with his tongue!
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Pull: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 1 = 9
If it doesn't work:
Mikhaere will continue to chase after the quickling, muttering obscenities under his breath.
| Dungeon Master S |
The druid's attempt at tripping fails as the creature darts over his tongue. Obyrn moves in pursuit. The creature doesn't react to Rom's question, but it does clearly hold the stone. Seeing as Nivik is the only one who seems to be able to connect, he darts away again (drawing from Rom, Khamul and Obyrn.)
36 seconds remain.
Mikhaere: Move
Obyrn: Move
Baddies: meme memp zip bang!
Rom: TBD
Nivik: TBD
Khamul: TBD
Quickling: 5
Mikhaere

Likely draws from me, too; I hadn't moved my token yet.
Trip: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
"BAH!"
Weaver, a Pathfinder
|
The longspear flashes out again
Obyrn's AoO: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 but again the nimble foe evades.
Mikhaere

posting my turn early...
Frustrated with his efforts thus far, Mikhaere slurps his tongue back into his mouth and tries a different tactic. He calls out to the swamps of his homeland, requesting aid of a special kind... The ground around him suddenly writhes with a green summoning circle, like vines tangling around each other to form mysterious druidic words in the borders.
Spontaneously casting summon nature's ally I using my frostbite slot. A giant centipede will appear next turn.
