Yvell Endymion |
Doing nothing wont solve the problem either. Yvell stated logic, he cant do anymore than that. If keeping the gas down here contained is bad, then releasing it wholesale to quickly dissipate even if it happens to be here (Which is horribly elaborate for suicide) would be better.
Grammanar Gun-Runner |
No—but if we can find the pipe it vents through, we can re-route it, or make sure we're out of the area first. This isn't necessarily good player logic, but it's character logic for not wanting to disable the system until someone with the right skills makes a better case.
Yvell Endymion |
Im not going from player logic, Im going from character logic. This ruin has seal doors which seems to be keeping the place sealed and currently that gas is likely what is seeping into the area. If we find the 'pipes' there is no way to reroute it because they are fixed and in place. Yvell himself has clearly ran ruins similar to this before to your character. Every single time something like this was off or changed fixed itself when turned on or adjusted. This issue currently isnt that we don't know what will happen but with the Linguistics is saying we cant figure out the process to finish it BECAUSE of technical jargon and prompts. If the gas would vent where we are or worse I'm almost certain the area/prompt in Androffan we could figure out with a look and thus is a non-issue.
Disable device isnt likely turning it off but getting it to work and Yvell himself doesnt have Linguistics because outside of this language He's had no use for any others. most of the stuff we've run into have been self explanatory on the knowledge scale, this is perhaps the second with an unknown variable.
Yvell Endymion |
Yvell looks at Perdix work his knowledge, somewhat intrigued yet saddened by his inability to grasp anything of note. he would have to fix that later. Once it seemed to have stopped he nodded to the resourceful mage.
" Excellent work Perdix. You have vast knowledge in many a subject it seems. By the duration of your task I assume the gas is gone? "
Yvell Endymion |
" Very well, let us check those last rooms then and leave. We still need to find the spy "
Yvell moves the group to the previous sealed door and sees if it opens.
GM Demonmoose |
Moving through the door, you find several cylindrical rooms. Each room has doors at opposite ends, and seems barren. Whatever was in each room has been eaten away by something, little bits of residue remain on the floor. When you enter the last cylindrical container, a deep voice seems to echo.
"Have you word from my master?"
Yvell Endymion |
Yvell pauses for a moment hearing the deep voice. He places a hand up to signal to the group and then speaks. " And which master may that be? How long have you been waiting here? In this.. dangerous area? "
[ooc]Does the voice sound familiar? As I dont see anything. "[/b]
GM Demonmoose |
There doesn't appear to be anyone in the cylindrical rooms except the party.
The air seems to coalesce into a humanoid figure with no discernible features. It seems to constantly blow apart and have trouble keeping form.
"My master, Furkas Xoud. You are not his servants? Odd that you would come to this place without such knowledge. I have been trapped here for a while. If you would release me from this prison, I will tell you what I know. Otherwise, I will assume that you are his enemies."
Yvell Endymion |
I can't see how common would be an issue but I think i know who this might be.... and explain how the hell it survived.. y'know BEING LOCKED UP IN DEADLY GAS.
Yvell Endymion |
Yvell takes his blade setting it down in a peaceful manner. He looked around where he saw the image and nods as he begins to speak, motioning Valtyra and anyone else forward to speak as well.
" If your master is Furkas Xoud I must inform you likely that was... long ago and likely he is.. dead. Given your current form I can only assume you are the Shahasho.. the speaking wind from the.. image we discovered? If you have been kept here under some means or binding, we would gladly free you if you are cooperative. Recently we have helped another being with such a fate before. If you are nonthreatening we can likely do the same for you. However we need information as to how you are bound here. "

"I must be banished back to my plane. Furkas Xoud used a scroll of planar ally and a hefty sum of gold to keep me here. As such, I was forced to carry out his defense, but he left this place when he found his prize. So I am stuck here. Spells like Planar Shift or Dismissal can free me from this task."
Yvell Endymion |
" Very well, what did your master find here? What hazards did you encounter and why were you locked in this chamber? What can you tell us of Furkas, what did he search for? How powerful was he? I want to reassure you that unlike your master, I am a Paladin so I will keep my word. "

The elemental creature listens patiently to Yvell's barrage of questions, and does not speak until he stops.
"Furkas Xoud was obsessed with the powers of smoke. He believed it to be a means of everlasting life. In his search of the arcane, he also experimented with the Numerian ruins, the technologies that he found buried within. If he was successful, then he may still be alive in some form... While searching through this place and bypassing its traps and dangers, the wizard found an android. She had long been dead, but he found the trace of divine power within her, something alien and strange. He whisked her remains away to his Choking Tower to discover as much as he could from her corpse, and left me here to 'protect' him."
"That is all I know. Now free me from this servitude."
Yvell Endymion |
Yvell nods and looks to Perdix, " How long would it take you to do so Perdix, would you need a day of preparation? To change out your spells, could you use a scroll of such? " His Elven eyes grace Valtyra, " And what of you Valtyra? are you capable of such, could you become so? "
He seems calm and inquisitive, " For if we cannot do so now it would be rude not to ensure him that we will. he has been stuck here for likely... eons. " He doesnt as much as twitch from Muga, luckily thier exploration was likely almost over. The spy's ruin had been found and the gas gone.. evidence would be scare. The group simply needed to find the person.
Yvell Endymion |
" We will have to likely ask of such a boon from Redfang. I doubt the people would have magicks to willingly give to us as we are strangers. Unlike Torch we have little sway. Though revealing the spy might give us more clout. "
Yvell's visage softened somewhat at the mention of Perdix's ability. " Hrm, if that is the case than it falls to mass of winds. Is this appropriate for you? " He looked to Shahasho
Yvell Endymion |
Im assuming we searched every room so we got what we need. Yvell made sure the Androids are presentable
Yvell looks at the group and nods. " Lets skim anything left, then investigate those Varisians... we took whatever the spy might need but it doesnt hurt to be careful. "
Yvell guides the group back through the complex picking up anything of note they could use or otherwise would be interested by a Technic League individual. Once they got to the well entrance, he would let Phylla attach herself to his back, hold Valtyra and Autograpnel his way back up. Once they have all gotten up he makes sure they replace the boulder right over the top.
" We'll check them now and then head to Redfang for any advice or assistance "
With that he moved the group towards where the Varisian encampment was located.
GM Demonmoose |
When you are ready, the party goes to the lumber yard where the Varisian's colorful tents are displayed. The lumberjack is not there. You see five Varisians in colorful garb talking in loud voices, dancing slightly, until they see your group approach them.
A varisian woman breaks from the crowd and approaches you. Hands on her hips, she says, "What is it you want? Our people will not be harassed by strangers."
Yvell Endymion |
Yvell is somewhat taken aback by the immediate hostility as well, responding with a rose eyebrow and an evaluation of the woman's demeanor.

He only took a moment before taking his standard, firm yet not threatening tone. " I am not sure why the sudden hostilities but we came to mean you no harm. We ourselves are strangers to the town here. As such we are in no way anymore or less welcome than your own selves. Where you approached by a inhospitable individual or group recently? Ourselves as a group have no ill will but individually, as you can see, have various reasons to visit such people as you. If you can assist us it would be much appreciated. "

"We are Varisian. It seems to be the only reason people need to show us scorn. They think we are thieves and plague-bringers because we are a nomadic folk. Let them think what they like. We have no vendors or any here of any danger or import. We are merely travelers."
The rest of the Varisians gather near the edge of the lumber yard. One offers Muga a Varisian wine for a few silvers. They start to gossip about different things, mostly trivial things about the weather, town-goings-on and traveling from the west.
A large man exits the lumber house and says, "Hey. You better not be harassing my six guests! I'll wallop ya good if you try something." He is a thick bearded man with large muscles and old scars.
Muga |
"... I wonder why everyone suddenly wants to pick fights with people with swords and armor who are obviously hardened warriors."
Rejected dialogue "Also, boohoo, boohoo, hoo. Do I look like I came from next door? Never had a spot of trouble in all my travels."
Yvell Endymion |
Yvell seems to turn around counting on the top of his head there being 5 Varisians. But not a Sixth. He looks to the man asking genuinely, " Six guests? I only count five here? Has something happened to the last one? This is important, as recently we have engaged in combat with a mutated bearlike creature recently that seemed to try and prey on innocents. A Yaoguai. We killed it but... unfortunately... it claimed the man's life. Do you know if this person is safe or where they might have went? "
He speaks now to the man.

The lumberman crosses his arms and frowns at Muga, but doesn't say anything back.
"That's strange. There were definitely six of them." The lumberjack exchanges a look with the head Varisian woman.
She shakes her head. "She was not of our group. She joined just before we came into the village. We are not all the same, you know. As soon as we settled here, she disappeared. Illaris was her name."
Yvell Endymion |
Yvell looked back and forthe between the exchange and narrowed his eyes, " This Illaris, what does she look like? What did she seem to join your group for..? I have heard of nomadic persons joining and leaving on a whim but this seems odd even for that. Are you sure she was not kidnapped or there was foul play? Did she give any indication she would suddenly leave? How long ago was this? "
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (14) + 17 = 31
Grammanar Gun-Runner |
Grammanar shakes his head. "This village has had a problem with infiltration," he adds. "Maybe she ran into trouble, but maybe she was the trouble. Do you know where you lost sight of her?"
Yvell Endymion |
Yvell looks to Grammanar... he contains the urge to say much considering the knowledge of such was supposed to be not given to the population.
Valtyra Brightsong |
"Wow what beautiful colors you all have! And that dance was so elegent. You have to teach me sometime." Val says to the women with a smile.

Then she turns to the man. "We aren't harrasing anyone. I promise. Where could she ahve gone? These parts dont seem safe at present." She says with real concern in her voice.

"She was a beautiful one, aye, she was. Dark hair and definitely Varisian. Illaris came in with the others, but we haven't seen her in a few days. Her people tend to wander. Maybe she went to the inn, or tavern, or someplace else. She was somewhat curious about the old wizard's tower." The lumberjack says.
"As is our custom, our people are free to join and leave when they want. We do not keep leashes on those we trust, nor do we pry in our more intimate details. I do not know what became of Illaris. I hope only that she did not befall any hardship in this village." The Varisian woman adds.
