A very helpful guide to this sort of game! It helped me get into it and is still one of the best bits of advice out there for playing in a forum format.

Actual question: I've noticed a swear filter for the message boards? I was curious if it was something like RPoL where labeling a game as "mature" or "adult" disabled such a filter, or if it's just something that kind of permeates the Paizo boards.

Male Human Gamer 3/DM 3

Sorry. It's impossible to turn off. It's fairly easy to work around.

Posting to keep track of the thread.

One note to mention to all players. You all get to start the game with three Bennies. For those that don't know, you can spend one to get a re-roll on anything other than damage rolls, remove certain status effects (Shaken is the big one), and a few other small things.

Keep track of them, because they're useful to have on your side when in a tight spot. Since we don't have sessions, I'll award extras for good roleplay and finishing major plot points.

Alright, notes for a potential house rule. This is mostly for Veronica, but opinions from everyone are helpful.

I'm thinking that I'll keep the other Martial Arts Edges as is, so to get better unarmed damage, you need to take Superior Kung Fu and eventually Celestial Kung Fu.

However, I would be remove the requirement of Arcane Background (Chi Mastery), letting them be available without gaining Chi Powers. In exchange I would add the requirement of Seasoned Rank to Superior Kung Fu to represent the training time necessary to learn more advanced fighting techniques. Celestial Kung Fu remains pretty much exactly the same. Other martial arts or unarmed combat edges will have to be looked at individually to see what makes sense without Chi Powers and what could only be taken by a true supernatural martial artist.

I mean, it makes sense to me. It makes it way easier to keep the Edges as representing "true" martial arts while also allowing the person playing the character to flavor it as the fact that they are just really good at punching you in the goddamn face, which seems to be more Veronica's style.

I'm not on my laptop at the moment, so I don't remember all the other requirements, but dropping Chi Mastery seems like the obvious choice to me.

Male Human Gamer 3/DM 3

Pretty much exactly what I'm going for. You don't need to learn Chi Magic to hit people really hard or really well, but learning an actual style is better than just punching dudes without training.

It all makes a good deal of sense to me as well. Lets those of us with less spiritual inclinations still get good at throwing a punch or two.

...Is it weird the Blessed included himself in "less spiritual inclinations"?

Male Human Gamer 3/DM 3

Not when your a smokin', drinkin', shootin' western preacher with god whispering in one ear and death whispering in the other.

So, I found some pretty good character art for Drake; I uploaded it to his character page. That said, some of my descriptions of his apparel don't really mesh with the image, so I updated his sheet to reflect that. If looking back and you're confused, assuming that "duster" is instead referring to "poncho", and also he has a hat.

Male Human Gamer 3/DM 3

I apologize for the delay in updating the gameplay thread. I just want everyone on board before moving on to another scene and I haven't heard or seen anything of Veronica in a while. Has anyone heard from her?

Rachel keeps meaning to post in, but her older sister just graduated college, so she's been a bit busy. I'll remind her tomorrow, and then we should be good to go.

Male Human Gamer 3/DM 3

No sweat. Just want to make sure everyone's here before doing something important.

Sorry about that. I just got settled back into the dorm. I'll post in soon.

Male Human Gamer 3/DM 3

Alright, quick thing to remember for PBP games since I know some people are still getting used to them. This is probably obvious, but I feel the need to play Captain Obvious anyway.

Anything I post in a spoiler with a character's name attached is something only that character is supposed to know and is usually private to that character. If you must check something that doesn't have your character's name on it, keep it as player knowledge please.

So uhh... is anyone still keeping track of this game? We've kind of died out.

Male Human Gamer 3/DM 3

Well, I'm still watching it, but there's not much I can do if people aren't posting.

Male Human Warpriest 1 | HP 14/14 | AC 17, touch 11, FF 16, CMD 14 | Fort +4, Ref +1, Will +4 | Init +2, Perception +2

I'm keeping an eye on things, but I'm trying to refrain from posting instantly every time Sean does--I'd rather not it become a one-on-one post session that everyone else pops in to discover the next day, because I know from my experience that things can get strained when one or two player posts a whole lot without others giving input.

That said, it can become difficult to track the game if I look at a new post and don't do anything, because I'll sometimes forget to check on things if a notification doesn't show up on my campaigns page. All in all, though, I think that we're missing some folks posting on a regular basis here.

Male Human Gamer 3/DM 3

Yeah. I'm considering implementing a 'post every x days or I'll bot you' rule, but I have no idea how often people are even checking so who knows if anyone would actually listen.

Male Human Warpriest 1 | HP 14/14 | AC 17, touch 11, FF 16, CMD 14 | Fort +4, Ref +1, Will +4 | Init +2, Perception +2

Yeah. Hopefully people will check back in and things can pick up before too long. Maybe contact them outside of the site through texting or something?

Male Human Gamer 3/DM 3

I don't have number for a lot of people. I don't think I have Veronica or Henry's numbers.

male human

Sorry there was nothing happening for a while so I forgot to check my b

I'm really sorry I've had trouble remembering to post. Work is really busy and I'm actually getting ready for a trip to Costa Rica in a week or so. By time I get home, I'm super tired. I'll try to keep on top of it.

Male Human Gamer 3/DM 3

It's alright. Let's just try to keep the campaign moving so things don't die out.

Male Human Warpriest 1 | HP 14/14 | AC 17, touch 11, FF 16, CMD 14 | Fort +4, Ref +1, Will +4 | Init +2, Perception +2

Is this Costa Rica trip going to count for your GO?

Nope. I went to a workshop about leaf cutter ants and I got a full scholarship so I didn't have to pay anything. Still have yet to figure out what I want to do for my GO -_-

Universal Buffs: Nothing right now

Hey guys. I have to ask. Are we still interested in getting this going again? If we are, I'll start it once Leon is back from his trip.

I was talking to Rachel on Skype when I saw this pop up, and we're down to get it going again. Now, I'd be down to run just the three of us or pick up some others, perhaps from our friends in other SW games. Others may have a different opinion on that, but I know we're down to do this.

Hey Sean, are you still planning to get this up and running?

Universal Buffs: Nothing right now

I was. I didn't know if people were ready to start it or not.
