Nearly 20 savage primates are holding court here around a small wood idol. The primates are snarling, spitting and cavorting madly about the ziggurat. A terrifying howl shatters the revelry after you arrive and the primates scatter into the mists, making way for their champion, a large ape. The large ape engages you as while the other monkey cohorts scream and pound museum objects on the floor and walls of the room.

I was under the impression that the elf was bound at the top of the Ziggurat? If so, then Filios will attempt to climb to his aid, if indeed a climb check is required? If a climb is not required, or the elf is near the bottom, Filios will move to untie him.

Seeing Astarton chasing after the apes with the idol, the Illusionist moves to reduce the crowd for him. He moves up to the edge of them and pulls a small scoop of black sand out of a pouch. He flings it and speaks another arcane phrase. A rippling cone of shadows blasts into the shrewdness Yup, that's what a group of Apes is called :D, aimed to miss Astarton and hit as many apes as possible.

The half elf speaks up, hoping to smooth over the fact that Filios had just smashed the curator in the head a couple of times with the butt of his sword. "You had a problem with a cursed item, and your friends at the Pathfinder Society have come to rescue what we could. Many of your staff had turned into feral apes due to the foul mists this idol produced. Our resident scholar here has determined that the effect can be countermanded by a specific chant, of which you should use if you want to display it again."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Filios unties the remainder of the curator's bonds, and he assists him down the Ziggurat, of course, failing to mention the knocks on his head.
Let's get you down to safety.

Zazu gives the sack a couple of thumps with his quarterstaff for good measure. "Yes, here is the text." he says, offering the bark with the chant on it. "I'm going to take a sample from this idol. Perhaps we can determine what sort of powers it possesses and figure out how to make it safe." he adds.
He will, without taking the idol out of the bag, shave a small chip off it and stow it in a vial for later study.

Vahn walks over to Zazu and goes to take a sample as well. "Very good idea. It will be worth studying I think. Should we check out the rest of the museum to ensure no other ill effects are afoot?"
