After you dismount, you close in on the clearing on foot, while Taras and Kay take care of your horses.
If someone keeps mounted, tell me please. I think Michael has the only battle-trained horse and Majet on her riding dog is good as well.
Out of the cover of the trees you look at the clearing, which is about 50ft. in diameter, in a roughly round shape.
Standing there you can count 7 Kobolds, all of which are lying on the ground, most of them wailing and moaning, one or two snoring.
They are located in the middle of a patch of what seems like radishes and have 4 baskets full of the harvested root crops nearby. But appearently they stuffed themselfes with the tubers as well.
Majet:
The kobolds haven't noticed you as of yet, they are too busy mourning their state, too stuffed to think of watching their surroundings.
Actions?
If you want to attack, surprise round.

Michael the Bastard |

Michael starts chuckling at the site of the distressed tiny lizard men, the look of amusement indicating he has no intention of fighting them while they lie on the floor. He moves to place himself next to big Ern, ready to grab the lump of lard should he decide that splattering the Kobolds is an option.

Queslin |

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Composite Longbow: to hit 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Composite Longbow: damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
As the kobolds take an aggressive stance, Queslin's ready bow launches an arrow at one of the reptilian creatures.

Michael the Bastard |

Initiative +1 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Michael starts to move over towards Big Ern to stop him squashing the defenceless Kobolds, but his reactions are too slow as the others show their murderous side and start charging forward into the clearing.
I will forgo my surprise round as I stand their in shock at the murderous intentions of a few of the others.

DM Sothal |

It's okay, I wasn't all too clear there...
Let's ignore all posts past my post asking for Ini, if you like and repost actions. I'm going to take your rolls for Initiative though.
Please repost your actions below, even if you don't want to change them.
Branomonrik has computer-troubles, I'll roll for him: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Ini so far:
Devlin: 22
Queslin: 20
Delfey: 18
Big Ern: 13
Branomonrik: 13
Michael: 11
(Kobolds: 11)
Majet: 9
Agerron: 6
Surprise round (re)starts now, Kobolds are unaware and prone.
I assume you are dismounted, weapons drawn, unless you say otherwise.
As for location, you are behind cover of trees, about 20ft. from the closest Kobold.

Queslin |

Queslin will draw a bead on one of the kobolds and fire if they take any offensive action.
Ready action for fire bow
Composite Longbow: to hit 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 w/PB Shot
Composite Longbow: damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 w/PB Shot

Majet Greenhill |

Majet facepalms at Ern's complete and utter lack of subtlety "Were trying to negotiate not threaten them." she then turns towards the Kobolds "We just wish to talk."she calls out trying to look none threatening.
Keeping her weapons sheathed since she is trying to appear none threatening. Also do you want me to keep the diplomacy score from above or roll a new one?

Michael the Bastard |

I still think Big Ern should kick them, that is so him. :-)
Michael is too slow to react to the others and can only chime in after some good and some harm has been done.
I will still move after Big Ern as in Michael's mind, he is the one most likely to start a kobold ear collection.
No weapons drawn as I was planning on trying to hold back the big guy if he drew a weapon.
"These are Kobolds right?" he asks Majet, before facing the Kobolds and trying to look none aggressive, his mouth drops open to speak, but all the etiquette training and polished language skills Hobson has taught him, flood out of his mind as he looks at the pathetic creatures groaning on the floor before him.
I have a pretty okay diplomacy score if we get to talking.
Michael just grins, trying to suppress a giggle as the small creatures grasp at their swollen bellies.
"Too many Radish will give you gut rot, but you can make a mighty fine moonshine from them that can strip the bark from a tree." he comments to the nearest none kicked Kobold.

DM Sothal |

While Devlin utters some words in the tongue of the monsters, Queslin nocks an arrow at them.
Branomonrik holds back for now, weapon in hand, but not raised to attack, he stands behind a tree, watching the scaled things moves.
Then Michael steps out of the wood onto the clearing, making his fun of their situation.
Majet calls out to the small monsters as well, but before one of the kobolds can get to his small feet Agerron strides forth and threatens them with his blades tip at the throat of a kobold.
Far to surprised and perplexed to do much more than look out for the enemies, the kobolds still lie on the ground, in between the radish patch, when one of them has his guts together to at least cry out one word:
Draconic:
Now this seems to wake all the other kobolds, as the snoring stops and every last of them looks around.
Start of round one. The kobolds are still prone and flat-footed until they can act.
Name ... Ini ... Distance to next kobold
Devlin: ... 22 ... 25ft.
Queslin: ... 20 ... 25ft.
Delfey: ... 18 ... 20ft.
Branomonrik: 13 ... 20ft.
Michael: ... 11 ... 15ft.
Kobolds: ... 11
Big Ern: ... 10 ... 20ft.
Majet: ... 9 ... 25ft.
Agerron: ... 6 ... 5ft.

DM Sothal |

Seems like everyone's waiting on the Kobolds to react. Okay then.
One of the small scaly monsters finally stands up, slowly, hands outstreched to his sides. Looking with hatred in his eyes at Majet, the gnome, he turns to Devlin then, to speak:
Draconic
What do you want?"
Middle of 1st round. All but one of the Kobolds prone, not flat-footed anymore. They have weapons close by or on their bodies, but not one did dare drawing a weapon yet.
Name ... Ini ... Distance to next kobold
Kobolds: ... 11
Devlin: ... 10 ... 25ft.
Queslin: ... 10 ... 25ft.
Delfey: ... 10 ... 20ft.
Branomonrik: 10 ... 20ft.
Michael: ... 10 ... 15ft.
Big Ern: ... 10 ... 20ft.
Majet: ... 9 ... 25ft.
Agerron: ... 6 ... 5ft.

Queslin |

Queslin will draw a bead on one of the kobolds and fire if they take any offensive action.
Ready action for fire bow
Composite Longbow: to hit 1d20+7 = 24 w/PB Shot
Composite Longbow: damage 1d8+3 = 11 w/PB Shot
I would classify going for a weapon as an offensive action.

DM Sothal |

The blue-scaled kobold that's standing replies:
Draconic:
So, what do you want? Why do you ambush us? We were just having a feast here, we didn't do you any harm!
Tell him to take away his blade!"
While the standing Kobold speaks, the others lying on the ground stir a bit, but stil none dares to reach for a weapon. They mostly just turn their faces towards the group in the trees.
The one Kobold threatened by Agerron keeps perfectly still, staring at the human above him.
These all isn't really working with Initiative...
As it is, Queslin and Agerron have actions readied.
Michael and Agerron are the only ones standing on the clearing, the rest is behind trees and bushes, visible, but behind cover.
So, should a combat erupt, I'd say, that Queslin and Agerron get their readied action in before the Kobolds would act.
I assume that Queslin's targeting the standing Kobold.

Agerron |

Majet turns to Agerron
"It is kind of hard to convince these guys we mean no harm when you have a blade at one of there throats. Oh and these are the Sootscale Kobolds we heard about"
Agerron doesn't take his eyes off of the kobold, but responds to Majet. "Who says we don't mean them harm? Not a one of you has bothered to tell the non-lizard speaking among us what's being said, and I sure as Hells don't trust them to put my sword down. Be happy I didn't just off the little gecko first and ask questions later. I'll put the sword down when I'm convinced THEY mean US no harm. And I'll warn you - I'm a tough man to convince."

Queslin |

Note: Queslin understands Draconic, but has not reacted to the conversation yet.
"Because we don't trust them. They have a reputation for lethal cunnning and dirty tricks." Queslin says without seeming to move his mouth. "Agerron, kick their weapons out of reach. Then we can surround them while Majet and Branonmonrik deal with them."

Queslin |

"Our charter requires us to act against any 'unlawful behaviour' and the Sootscale kobolds have been 'ravaging the Kamelands' lately. The only reason they're alive right now is that I know you want a chance to talk with them. I am here allow you to negotiate from a position of strength. I will try and abide by whatever arrangement you come to with them, just like I am doing with Whiner and Runner. Arguing with me will do you no good, Majet. I suggest you work out a deal with them before someone gets bored, though."
